I can't stand MCU Killmonger.
I really don't understand his appeal.
He literally was that blood kin you hate having over during family gatherings because stuff comes up missing, or broke.
Things are peaceful, then he comes through running his mouth, and creates a lot of drama.
When confronted, he uses his poor circumstances as an excuse to justify bad behavior.
More & more, I just don't like sympathetic villains.
Bring me Achebe!
I would prefer stunt doubles infact everyone should unless youre jackie chan. I could care less about seeing Scarlett Johansson's face and more so about seeing black widow do a really cool kick. Had Coogler used stunt doubles which everyone should be for since stunt doubles are a major part of the industry and need work then we would have gotten much better choreographed fights. Also, people in this group need to understand that criticism of a specific point is not a complete repudiation of the entire movie. But haters going to hate right
The difference between the in suit Panther versus the waterfall fights we're very clear everyone knows those were stunt doubles. The heart-shaped herb doesn't lead to a decrease in skill and martial art Talent unless that was another change then we decided to make that I'm not aware of

You don’t need otherworldly powers to be a superhero: some superpowers include just being really rich or insanely smart. Now, you can actually be Tony Stark or Shuri with LittleBits’ Avengers Hero Inventor Kit, which was made in collaboration with Marvel. Each kit comes with interchangeable “bits,” or electronic building blocks, that attach magnetically to a transparent sleeve that kids can wear.
Using a companion app, kids can follow along with step-by-step instructions and video tutorials to receive their “hero training” from the Avengers. Each superhero teaches a different lesson: Iron Man’s activity is centered on the LED matrix; Ant-Man and the Wasp’s lesson uses the accelerometer to teach kids about speed and movement; Black Widow will teach you to go undercover with the light sensor; and Black Panther and Shuri offer the final lesson on customizing your coding inventions.
A few qualms I have with this kit is that the Iron Man arm that’s displayed in all the promotional images and on the box isn’t actually wearable. It’s just a stand to hold the transparent sleeve when you’re not using it, which is a little bit disappointing.
Also, for a toy that’s centered on gauntlets, it seems like a serious missed opportunity not to have the Infinity Gauntlet in there! I know we’re not encouraging kids to eliminate half the world’s population at the snap of their fingers, but I just felt it was worth pointing out. Maybe the educational aspect could be teaching kids about the Malthusian model?
This is LittleBits’ second collaboration with Disney, its first being the $100 Star Wars Droid Inventor Kit, which lets you create a motorized R2-D2. The Avengers Hero Inventor Kit will be available on August 24th for $150.

I mean, I love that movie. It's 1 or 2 depending on the day for my favorite comic movie ever.
But there are arguments to be made that the Russos can make you vomit from their quick cut style in that movie. Or the fact the camera jumps constantly to hide stunt doubles (oh scarlet).
I actually think Winter Soldier is a tad overrated.
Its the least flawed comicbook movie though. However, it suffers from just standard filmmaking imo. There's not a real creative flair from the directors with that movie. However the action is GOAT is status. Thanks primarily to the John Wick directors shooting the action scenes. Russos improved as directors in their last couple of films. At least visually.
Black Panther >>> in terms of acting, characters, villain, writing, direction
Winter Soldier doesn't have CGI goop and has executes its vision without a dip. It doesn't have the jarring dip in quality that BP has, but it also doesn't reach the heights (outside the highway fight)
It really is a shame they couldn't execute the final action piece on a Winter Solider level. BP might be even greater.

When is the last time you've seen the movie?
The action isn't Russo level of consistency. However, that first action scene is pretty great now that its no longer under lit.

I think a case could be made they should have kept the same guy from Civil War. Then again maybe the real issue is putting so much CGI over the stunt doubles or just replaced them with CGI models.
Just as I posted the before/after CGI Killmonger pic they clearly replaced the actors with CGI models. That was a bad decision. It made the actors look entirely too skinny imo. Killmonger's wrist looked unnatural.
The stunt double for BP is actually really good. You look at some of his moves and wonder why did they put so much CGI over the actor?

Now they put the same CGI over him in Infinity War, but it looked different. Infinity War seemed like a real actor with CGI put over him. BP seemed like it was complete CGI. Compare the opening fight scene to the final fight scene. Just way too animated, weightless.

Coogler needs to watch Mission Impossible Fallout. Call Kevin Feige and tell him that's what they should be aiming for in the sequel. Coogler can do it. T'Challa/Dora's/villain should be capable of putting in that kind of work consistently and have visually interesting set pieces.
Also as much as I love the car chase. I think it was a bad move to put the Kendrick song over it. It was great initially because of Klaue's comment about put some music on, but it took away the tension. The running with the bikes scene in Creed showed you need a harder song if you need to play over a scene. However, it would have been better if they either used just score or complete silence.

Saw the movie last Saturday and while I think the story of BP is far superior to M:I Fallout especially when the movie's plot gets convoluted, the action is just purely solid from beginning to the end and the cinematography that makes the movie immersive and heart pounding i.e. the Halo jump scene, the bathroom scene, the Paris chase where cruise was riding his bike against traffic, the helicopter chase etc. Just so many memorable scenes in that film that I really loved all due to Tom Cruise's Daredevil endeavours and it really shows.
I seriously doubt Marvel will ever reach that level especially with the tight schedule of production and the risk of actors getting injured which could affect the overall production of the film and could be more expensive for each of their films but never say never.

Only american actor that does action like Tom Cruise is Tom Cruise.

Black Panther is going to be in Captain America #3 by the way. He was in the splash page at the end.
This timeline is so messed up lol.
And Shuri is in her pure Griot look, not the new hybrid.

You watch that movie and the style/tone of it is exactly what I thought BP would be when Coogler signed on. Fallout isn't a better movie to me, but its close primarily because of the unreal action/steady tone.
I know about Tom Cruise's daredevil ways, but if T'Challa is wearing a mask they can have the stuntman do some great things. There are some things that Coogler had big ideas for, but it was contained in the Marvel box.
The BP/Killmonger falling scene could have been dope as the Halo jump in Fallout if they weren't so reliant on CGI. You're not letting Coogler really do him with the shackles on him. Especially during the 3rd act that looked like mostly 2nd unit director shots.
I really hate that the Russos introduced T'Challa with the CGI shine in Civil War. Sort of forced the next directors to carry that over and maybe they aren't as comfortable with it or get the resources for it.
Either way there's no reason BP can't have that fallout/Logan level of grit to it. Waterfall fights are proof that Coogler can make great fight scenes. Don't strip away the creativity with the CGI.
It upsets me because it won't age well. If anything the warehouse scene in BvS could have been the standard they should went for with this movie.

Technically, the rights to cartoon characters are not the same as movie rights. That being said, there seemed to be a desire for synergy.

Yeah. Im 90% sure marvel has had xmen cartoon rights, but just like with toys and gsmes, they had no interest in using them without 100% control everywhere
-
They definitely have the rights to cartoons (I think toys are more ambiguous - as long as the toys are clearly not movie-related toys, they have the rights to them too). But, yeah, they seem to have avoided using them outside of comics if they couldn't leverage the movie cross-promotion.
