You are right, casting the two leads in Black Panther is not nearly as buzz worthy as casting a writer and director
/sarcasm
There is a time for tinfoil hats and that time isn't here yet. BP wasn't officially being worked on until Chadwick shows up on stage with Stark and Evans and Klaw showed up in AoU.
Go ask Carol or Inhuman fans if they would rather have
a: writer and director
or
b: Carol cast or Black Bolt cast and they show up ON STAGE with two of the biggest stars in the MCU for a special show just to announce them AND have the villain cast already. Oh, and Carol/Black Bolt will show up in an Avengers movie (which is what Civl War is turning into) before there solo is around.
I want a writer and director-who have a set direction for the film.
Is it an origin or stand alone or dropping hints for Avengers 3.
If it's the first 2-there is NO rule that says they had to wait 3-5 years to start. We have had film made and come out a year or two after completion.
I think BP fans just want the film MADE before someone leaves Marvel Studios and someone new comes in and SCREWS everything up.
All it takes is ONE person or event to change everything.
Masters of The Universe 2 AKA Cyborg
Conan the Barbarian sequel AKA Krull with Kevin Sorbo
Let a Static movie come out be a hit and you'll see a Miles Morales film instead BP is two seconds.

The two inhuman books and ANAD Avengers.
I just read the Black Panther 2099 one-shot and it turns out Doomwar was just following the trends. Smh.
That was really annoying ,both the story by itself and the fact that it reminded me that BP's confrontations against Doom are rarely ever definitely in his favor except maybe FF311 and 312 which isn't much of a fight and maybe that astonishing tales issue, but that's hindered by that fact that doom could have stopped BP at anytime but chose not to because he wanted to recruit him as a ally.

I'm talking about a Black Panther solo book as this is supposed to be a BP appreciation thread.

Hmmm... interesting that he kept calling him a Prince there.
Either way the nice thing about T'Challa/Doom interaction is that there's a certain inherent respect there that Doom doesn't show a lot of heroes. I'd consider that in itself a bit of a feat.

None of which was evident in Doomwar thus making your point moot in a medium where the hero is usually expected to win a clear cut victory over the villain after a worthy struggle.
To date, T'Challa has never been shown clearly besting Doom in a decisive manner.

That'd be pretty impressive since to get a Static movie out before BP begins production DC would have to have been secretly working on it for a while without announcing it.

Well of course people are. Civil War starts filming next week so the prospect of Panther in film is a topic that's probably gonna be discussed. Cinematic Black Panther is something that is definitely happening as opposed to the umpteenth discussion about who we want on a Black Panther book or how Marvel can get the character right.

I am about 75% sure Feige said origin story
or maybe that was Dr. Strange (I know he confirmed origin story for Strange but can't remember if he said teh same for BP)

I realize that, I am just saying we know nothing book wise for any character post SW yet. So, there is no way to get a BP solo announcement because we aren't gettng any announcements post SW except for 3 books.

Yeah all they've announced so far to my knowledge are All-New, All-Different Avengers, Fantastic Four, and some sort of new X-book. They haven't unveiled very many new titles yet.

He didn't directly say it, but strongly hinted at it:
Something I already showed you today contains an Easter egg that leads directly into ‘Black Panther.’ He’s a bit of a prince, he may even become a bit of a king, but it’s all about how this isolationist country meets the world. Maybe it goes well, maybe it doesn’t.”
I think that honor shall remain with Luke Cage......and I am surprised that has not been retconned.
I still believe they should wait until after BP's cinematic debut.....see the spin used on the character......and gauge the audience's response (which I believe will be positive)......before launching a solo.
Hickman totally failed in clearly defining BP's abilities in a definitive manner during this saga.
The distinctive differences of opinion in this thread is proof of that.
I would not be surprised if the KOD thing gets erased post Secret Wars.
I would not be surprised if the BP we see on screen will be similar to the one shown in the Avengers EMH animated series.
That version of BP is simple, streamlined, very cost effective, and simply works!

I don't see why we should wait for a solo (provided it is handled properly with a writer who cares and who views the character as a reward, not just a proving ground). They aren't waiting on Captain Marvel's movie to have a solo book, and judging from the Battleworld map, Dr. Strange won't be waiting much longer either.
I understand the desire to have BP's comic and film forms synch up, but I don't see why they both can't just be good representations of the character and let any discrepancies in the details slide. Even if Marvel reboots (which I don't think is what they're doing at all), it's not like the comic universe is going to match the films.
On the merchandise front one of the Avengers activity books they put out for the new movie has a small section on Panther along with the other upcoming MCU heroes like Vision and Captain Marvel.
The handbook is divided into chapters focusing on the core four Avengers: Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, and the Hulk, discussing their origins both behind the scenes and on the page. A complete roster featuring other Avengers who will soon be getting their own blockbuster films - such as Ant-Man, Captain Marvel, and Black Panther - rounds out the collection.
