The thing is why would T'Challa be inspired by these men? His background is far different than theirs. His own father should be his greatest influence. There should be minorities in the movie that come from other nations. A movie about a highly advanced African nation untouched by the West should hardly have multiple races strolling about throughout the countryside. Other races can be represented by other countries.
This would make me boycott the movie & never look back...
The key word here is escapism...
If the Black Panther starts eating bean pies while wearing a dashiki all bets are off!
My wife is South African and her worldview is vastly different than mine but has over time been mixed in with western ideals up to a point while living above the equator!
Sure the Black Panther was co-created by two Jewish guys (Lee and Kirby) but the overall elements should be away from too much influence of Judeo-Christian world views unless you are going for the whole "nothing new under the sun" aspect... Of course Wakanda could be more like Israel surrounded by it's enemies but never backing down!
Just because they spoke English in the original Star Wars and have 70's style haircuts a long time ago in a galaxy far far away it should not be implied that they are western earth based characters!
MLK and Malcolm X were fighting a struggle Wakanda knows nothing about having been undefeated for 10,000 years straight... Yes, the Black Panther has fought the KKK but that is because the writers did not think outside the box enough to work more on cosmic villains instead of street level villains!
When one thinks "black" they conjure up images of the three M's Martin, Malcolm or Mandela but to be honest my wife hardly talks about Mandela all that much herself!
The Black Panther is the escapism part where you take a hero that could have never been a slave but just so happens to be a leader of a nation that would destroy it's would be enslavers and leave their heads on the tip of spears as a warning!
Escapism is part of this nutritious breakfast...
Real as it Gets..
What I got from that interview is that they must not be showing him too many scripts and he is winging it! Lol
Even the Black Panther character in the comic was not that secretive about his plans!
With no director, no confirmed father and no confirmed direction for this character it seems like he is in a sort of cinematic limbo because usually a synopsis is formed by now so close to a movie appearance!
C'mon Marvel give that dude some teasers and at least some Klaw toys to pass out or something!
With that said as your designated personal trainer I demand everybody stand up, stretch and get your heart rate up with some Blade aerobics...

Cool down... Relax... Take a deep breathe and...
Carry on...
Thanks for the responses. I suppose my biggest fear is they'll rely too much on stereotypes, but as long as they avoid them, we may be okay in that regard. I remembered that about Wakandans speaking Hausa -- hope they get someone who knows the language to help with some of the dialogue/accent coaching. Though I'll admit to being bothered at the idea of a movie set in Africa where they spend most of their time speaking a language that's not one of the most common tongues -- it works okay on the page, but it sounds so silly live action. I say let the complainers deal with it.
I also wonder how long he'll serve as reigning king. Personally, I liked the setup of T'Challa as the superhero/scientist/adventurer/Black Panther and Shuri as the reigning queen. Him being king is alright, but I don't think most Marvel writers have used it all that well.
Welcome to the thread. :)

You don't see the DM standing over Widow's unconscious body but the next time you see Natasha after the fight, she is messed up.
It is the last page of the issue and she is talking to Tony Stark.
Her arm is in a sling, her face is busted with one of her eyes swollen shut and the first thing she says is, "It was two of them so Lay Off."
Excelsior!

Reginald Hudlin is that dude.

Marvell2100 for the win.
And even that's a very recent development. T'Challa loosened Wakanda's isolationist policy more than any previous King. Think Azzari might have been the first to allow an outsider in the country, and T'Chaka was the first to marry an outsider.
Doesn't seem like he knows much about what the plans are (though it sounds like he may be choosing to take the info as it comes). I mean, we know from that one interview that he's not the best at lying with a straight face (though I guess he may have practiced). :P

From the looks of him, some of the Mary J makes it easier to keep a straight face...
