According to a random image I found on Google Search, it was originally a fan design. Supposedly, anyway.

It's obviously changed over the years, but the original design is the most appealing to me. Maybe if you swap out the brown for purple it'd be more well-received, but it just looks better to me personally.

You should read Ms. Marvel it is IMO in the top 10 of comics out now
Her Vertigo series Air was really good and is worth checking out

I honestly don't get the "need a black american actor for Black Panther" thing at all. Most blacks (and hell any american population) know so little about sub sahara africa that I don't see how 99% of american directors (black white whatever) could "relate" to T'challa and Wakanda.

With the exception of the Ant Man movie, have any other Marvel movies had similar problems securing a Director?

Not that I recall.
I don't recall Marvel approaching so many "named" actors either. They seem to be treading very carefully, for better or worse, with BP.
Which makes sense.... if they announced something like , "Peyton Reed directing Black Panther!" the twitterverse would explode negatively.
Hell, if they cast a non dark skinned person for director, I would imaget he twitterverse would still explode

So what in your opinion, could be a possible explanation as to why so many African-American film Directors have turned this project down?
