Misty's super power is being fiyone as hell. So on one hand that does make her completely useless, on the other hand Natasha Romanoff Johannson gets by just fine with that super ability.. so idk. She'll be alright.
Storm... lol...
Manifold... i mean... i gotta see more of him than being a better version of Cloak. But he's cool.
Cage is cool. B/c he's like the jock bro.
Blade would be awesome. B/c he's a dick
Yes! kinda like the Group Hudlin had in his run When T'Challa, Luke, Blade and Voodoo got together for the super hero whoopass team. Man i miss that.
If Ewing hadn't made Monica bae to Blue Marvel, I think Coates would've went with Monica over Storm in The Crew for that sexual tension fulfillment. She'd be giving T'BadDecisions the "should've chose me" smirk. Like in in those old Monica / Brandi music videos.
And Monica would've been in the BP movie, no doubt. Or at the least the sequal. No movie license stuff holding her back.
The big irony, comic wise: BP and Monica had little to no history prior to the Hudlin run, while BP and Storm actually had history on more than one occasion prior to the Hudlin run. Yet, the complaints for a BP/Monica marriage would've been minimal. Such is life, lol.

Hudlin made the right decision at the time. Storm was the bigger name and BP and Storm had on panel history, via Clairemont and Priest. I don't think Hudlin anticipated the backlash and office politics that occurred, which I def don't blame him, I for sure never saw it coming.

Indeed.
That said, with Monica being with BM, who does T'Challa get with, love interest wise? It appears Storm might be in the picture again, although how far will it go this time, I'm not sure, if it even goes there (I'm confident they'll never get married ever again). Who else would be viable choices?

Either create a new character(NuHuman?) or bring back someone from the far past(Princess Zandia).
Probably best to create a new character as the options at the point are slim to none.

I'd def welcome staying in Wakanda. T'Challa never had a Wakandan love interest. Would bring something new to the table.
Inhuman would be cool too. Perhaps a Wakandan Inhuman, in this case?
I suppose it could be as simple as them deciding to occasionally work together publically so that the black community and general public can see black role models or whatever occasionally working together publicly.
Boom. There you go. Seriously, why is that so hard, or unbelievable? I mean, over the years I've seen this topic, the discussion of a hypothetical all-Black superhero team, come up and there's always this question of but WHY are they together? If they're together JUST because they're Black, then that's boring (and racist).
But why are the X-Men together? They're together just because they're all Mutants. They fight against anti-mutant bigotry, fight against "evil mutants" (Mutant-on-Mutant crime), protect innocent mutants, and present a positive image of mutants to he non-mutant community. Now replace "mutant" with "Black" and suddenly that's a problem? So I say yes, the "hook" for a team like that is that they're all Black. A bunch of Black heroes get together and say hey, there's still racism in this country, let's team up to fight it.
Heck, I'll tell you right now, if I gained super powers in real life, especially potentially world-changing powers (like the powers of Superman, or the speed of The Flash, or a got a Green Lantern power ring) then of course I would do what I could to help anyone who needed it. I'd be there for the big natural disaster, hurricanes, Earthquakes, etc., But my primary focus would be on the Black (and Brown) communities. I'd be taking out the drug dealers and gangs, the crooked cops, cleaning up neighborhoods, stuff like that. Because I'd be a BLACK superhero, first.

It's not anything about being forced. It's about a theme for this team and what challenges they want to tackle and why they choose to be together. We'd want this to last more than 10 issues. Without a strong hook and a strong creative team behind it, if this team were to get a title, it wouldn't last long.
I think i've said this in the past but an international avengers team lead by T'challa (bc more of the world trusts him moreso than say... Namor) would be fun.
ie... the international community got sick of Carol and SHIELD crossing their borders during CW using Ulysses, so the UN decides to create a sanctioned team to do it instead. Tchalla agrees to lead it. Brings in different people from different parts of the world that he trusts. And hell, put one dude he doesn't trust on the team for the sake of it
you could use Eden (australia right?), luke (US), Captain Britain, some asian dude (are there any asian sorcerers? team needs a magic dude)
Storm to represent the mutants if there not dead by then. Maybe an inhuman for funsies.
SHIELD is actually an international organization under the UN. They're kinda supposed to cross borders. But I guess the crew could be affiliated with them. Heroes working with SHIELD is nothing new.
T'Challa never had a Wakandan love interest.
That is something I would like to see. Introduce a new Wakandan civilian and have her and T'Challa get involved.
Immediately an idea popped into my head. Someone here once speculated that a possible outcome to Coates' first arc is Wakanda adopts a Parliamentary system of governance, where T'Challa remains King but now it's more of a Constitutional monarchy, as opposed to an Absolute one. This new character could be the first elected Wakandan Prime Minister. And have her and T'Challa initially interact as rivals, as she was someone who favored abolishing the Monarchy altogether and considers this an insufficient compromise. But the two of them slowly fall in love, but then have to keep their relationship secret, as many would feel that her being involved with the King hurts the Parliament's independence.
Political intrigue! Scandal! Done right, that could be a cool ongoing subplot.

Anytime you use an existing character outside of the franchise there's a possibility that can happen though. Yeah it's far less likely to happen to Monica but there's always a chance. Ewing for example might prefer him with Adam.
Generally it's best to just use a home grown character if you're looking for something permanent.

Right, I considered that at first, but that was only one story I believe. At best a fling, not to mention it was never brought up again by any of the subsequent writers.
It is safe to say that T'Challa has had long-term relationships with only foreigners. He hasn't had one yet with a Wakandan, which is...kinda weird actually lol.
Uh, Monica Lynne, not Monica Rambeau - the one introduced, iirc, in Avengers and then extended to McGregor's run. In Panther's Prey, he proposed to her.
I (and the others too, I believe) was referring to Monica Rambeau, not Monica Lynne. T'Challa and Monica Lynne went very far, as we all know. T'Challa and Monica Rambeau barely interacted on panel, if at all, prior to the Hudlin run.
If T'Challa and Monica Rambeau were paired up during the Hudlin run, I'm confident that they would've still been together, unlike T'Challa and Storm.

Good point there, lol.
Well, at the least Monica Rambeau would've been able to make an appearance in the BP films, either the first solo or a sequel. The love interest question would've been clear from the start.
Makes me curious on how the MCU is going to address Nakia's portrayal and how close are they going to stick to the comics.

I think too many writers liked to play up on Wakanda's isolationist views by having T'Challa winding up with foreign girlfriends.
Since Coates is playing up the role of women in Wakanda, why doesn't he create a female Wakandan scientist as a love interest for T'Challa(one that isn't plotting a revolution)?

Its not about race
Its about a king working on threats with 2 street level heroes and a pretend goddess who should be leading her people away from extinction
That is the "why?"
Look at ultimates... it doesnt have one straight white male and is diverse as f. No ones asked "y" bc we know why.

I think T'Challa teaming up with Luke blade and voodoo was one of my favorite arcs in his run. Seriously yes they were charismatic as hell and the interactions were great. Had comedy too. Hell could even throw misty snd Monica I n there to have the original group there. That Would be awesome.
I would 110% support that if Hudlin came back specifically to write that group.
Also I would like to add, I Dunno why T'Challa can't be married And stay that way. He isn't the type of character that has random flings, he is a king he is looking for a queen. So what's wrong with giving him one? It would be great because the type of character he is would be no issue.
Need that team
Blade and voodoo show up in wakanda due to blade sensing a mystical threat
Cage and misty just happen to be there to visit tchalla
Go team darkness go!
...that is something I sincerely can see Coates doing, from the constitutional monarchy to T'Challa getting with the new Prime minister and keeping it on the low.

It may have been you whom I first saw bring up that possibility? I'm torn as well. Again, speaking as someone who mostly enjoys Coates' run, I do see his side that, on the surface, a hereditary Absolute Monarchy (especially one where the only way for it to change hands to a non-family member is via an MMA tournament) is the worst form of government. So Wakanda, being the "most scientifically advanced" nation on the planet should realistically have voluntarily abolished that centuries ago.
Then again, I should put "realistically" in quotes, as this is a comic-book, and like all superhero comic-books it requires various levels of Willing Suspension of Disbelief. After all, Wakanda also has a real, honest to goodness "God" looking over it, and blessing their royal leader, so that certainly changes things.
And personally I do like the idea that T'Challa is also a King. That feels like an intrinsic part of his character, as much as Clark Kent being a reporter, or Bruce Wayne being a rich businessman. Changing something like that feels like it's basically creating a new character. So while I'm enjoying the idea of this storyline showing some political unrest in Wakanda, with citizens losing faith in their leader, I am hoping that it ends with their faith restored, and showing why T'Challa is worthy of being King. And especially with the movie coming out, where he will be King, it seems like it would be a mistake to remove that in the comics.
I do think a Constitutional Monarchy could be a decent compromise. He'd still be King, his family would still be a Royal Family, and with a Parliament in place it actually gives a justification for T'Challa's various superhero adventures in America and elsewhere, as we'll know that Wakanda has a stable government running the day to day operations, with T'Challa only being needed for various ceremonial duties.
Of course, if I recall, in Priests run there was some kind of "Tribal Council" that had some kind of governing power in Wakanda, so it's not a totally unprecedented idea.
T'Challa
Blade
Monica
Voodoo
Misty
Luke
Frenzy
The Magnificant Seven.
