I have to admit, reading this issue T'Challa was beating fools left and right, almost felt like Jason Bourne reincarnated.
As for the rest of the book, its not as bad as I thought it will be. Maybe one of the few Coates Issue that I like but despite this, the premise is still something I may have to adjust to.
I’d remain cautious if I were you. Coates had one issue last season where T’Challa was in full boss mode while he was a chump in pretty much every other issue. I got burned by Coates once and I’ll be damned if I let it happen again.
Thanos can't even use the gems the right way. Thor without one gem tanked all the gems and Thanos. Thor was about to kill that trash villain. By the way this is bad writing Thor should not tank all the gems even with a new hammer.
Thanos didn't have Starlin there protecting him. I fail to see how that's a bad thing.
Can't wait for Ta-Nehisi Coates new Black Panther #1. Best Black Panther writer. Great at world building.
Well that was a plot twist.
what civilians? by the time the movie opened they were all dead. Heimdal Loki and Hulk were the only others still breathing. There were just dead bodies everywhere.
And by then, Thor was already beat down. Movie starts with him already taking a beating and then Thanos tortures him with the power stone some more.
I haven't read it yet, but the premise just feels like fun pulp Sci-Fi. I'm trying to think of the closest analogy. Maybe a John Carter of Mars or something like that. If you read X-Factor back in the day, the story Judgment War would be an example of what I'm talking about.
I think the biggest issue with the premise was expectations. Getting teased about a Wakandan Space Colony only for them to be slave-having colonizers lol.
If T'challa get some feats and a good story out of it, I don't really care. i don't really like Space stories anyway. But, I know a lot of people really had high hopes for a more Galactic based BP/Wakanda and it is likely a let down to them.

So I just read Black Panther #1 Spoiler Free Thoughts:
Great issue! Good Balance of dialogue, and action! Very interested in where this story is going and what it could potentially set up for BP stories moving forward! My guess is Coates may not do a Season 4, so I hope who ever takes over after him is respectful of the world building and sense of continuity Coates has brought back to BP.
-
Lol where was this Coates at first?
Very good issue ...

People said these exact words the first two issues of season 2 (including me)

I'd say it's feels like an average Image comic. Moves fast, but lacks any shock value. Decent action, but I was disappointed with the background art.
[Spoil]First issue is a slavery analog with specific words used for that effect. Should be articles coming out dissecting it[/spoil]

It does, and I actually consider it a good thing because even the typical Image comic is better than most of what comes out of the Big 2.
I was expecting the worst, but I enjoyed it and my interest is piqued. Hopefully, Coates can keep it up.
-
I really enjoyed the #1. Acuna's art was on point.

What do you guys think if T'Challa & co were to remain cosmic and fully leave Earth behind?
Is that an absolute "No" or would you be down with it?

If they colonized a planet and set up a Shadow Teleporter in the WK embassy to participate in Avenger adeventures, I'd be cool with that.

Absolution no. Firstly I don't think it would make sense for them to abandon Wakanda. And secondly because making him a cosmic character essentially removes him from the main action and puts him in a niche setting.
Let csmc characters be cosmic characters. T'Challa should stay on earth. He can go into space from time to time. Avengers do that too.

The Panther should be both cosmic and Earth based. he's got the technology to do both and then some.

Issa no for me as far as fully leaving earth behind goes. But I am down for the Space Story for the next 12 issues, and a PS4 Game based around this concept.
I think Coates may be using this story to: Re-Fuel Wakanda's supply of vibranium, Re-Introduce characters like Nakia and M'baku , and reinforce the idea that Wakanda is the most advanced civilization on the planet.

You think he'll bring those two back with him from this reality?
You think he'll bring those two back with him from this reality?
I don't see a point of re-introducing M'baku. 616 version is alive, can easiily become like the MCU if they want (just need a redemption story). No reason to make it convoluted.
Nakia I can see. But then... it would just put Coates at odds with himself since he loves Storm. There is no reason to bring back a different Nakia unless you are going the MCU Queen Nakia route.

BP was in the Hulk book again today. This is pretty much all he did. (I don't think those were "his" nano bots but I don't remember the previous issue well enough to be sure)

Naw. But him as a recurring cast member o something like then Ultimates (with an actual focus on the team and proactively taking down threats) and that's good enough. There aren't enough space stories happening and like said above, it will take him out of the action on earth where 95% of stuff is happening
You think he'll bring those two back with him from this reality?
I think if we'really getting alternate reality versions of those cgaeacters, they will end up ruling the Wakandan space empire while T'Challa end up going home.

If this is 616 it would be really hacky if they have the names of characters already in the universe. Lol

Apparently Donald Glover is rumoured to have a role in BP2 and Killmonger might return.

Trevor Noah is the voice of the computer when Ross remote pilots the talon fighter.

Black Panther 1 was intriguing.
Issue was obviously carried by the art and my goodness... i forgot what A list talent was like. Hit's had weight. T'challa looked enhanced.
Seems like it is going to be a "Dimension Z" type story. Where time moves "normal" in this reality but when he gets back to the 616, only like a day has passed or something.
A lot of the names were rather convenient I suppose lol. I hope tchalla and nakia fall in love and he brings her back to the 616 but I know that won't happen.
I am looking forward to more Acuna art than I am to the story honestly.
The slave metaphor was about as subtle as Mjolnir

It kinda read like an Evans issue with bits of Coates sprinkled in. Like that issue Rise where Chang pops in for no reason.

KM should return & Donald would make an excellent addition to the cast

I don't see what else you can do with Killmonger at this point.
His whole life was leading up to what he did and he caught a spear to the gut for it.
-
After Avengers 4 I guess Marvels going full in on death not mattering

Reviews out already. Cliff notes, it's confusing, but the action saves it.

I thought Donald Glover was playing the Prowler and MCU actors cant play two characters.

If Killmonger returns I think it’ll be in the ancestral plane. Other than that he can stay dead.

SPACE SLAVE REBELLION #1...
Choppy storytelling. Characters who are names and faces, nothing else. And a story so generic, you could change the character, place, and mineral names and drop it into any of a dozen sci-fi universes.
Not worth the hype, even if this IS 616!T'Challa. But I'm sure some folks will gush over how original and mysterious it is.

Alfre Woodard played two. She’s Black Mariah in Luke Cage and a grieving mother in Captain America: Civil War

That was such an odd decision. At first I was like "Did no one bring this up or did she forget that she had played another character in Marvel"
Then I realized this is most likely a result of the TV and Film division not communicating. I'd say it would be stranger to have 1 person play 2 movie roles than have someone play a role in TV and Film because sadly, the TV universe, or at least the Netflix shows, might as well be in their own universe.

miscommunication.
remember when killmonger's gf was supposed to be Tilda Johnson? But Tilda was supposed to be in Luke Cage 2?
That got changed REAL quick and unceremoniously.

If Ryan Coogler wants Killmonger back best believe he will be back. Trevor noah is Shuri's computers voice.
