Pretty solid chapter:
- Vibraxas coming back was cool. Hopefully down the road he can be introduced in the MCU
- A decent fight scene, would've liked so see more
- T'Challa's both respectful and brutal with his enemies lol
- Storm was cool, she has a god complex so I see her talking like that
- Not liking the fact that this new democracy still relies on the royals so hopefully we'll see them be more proactive in later issues
- I'm cautiously hype for this new god and any potential followers he may have
Overall, pretty good.

Man you don't know how much I'm waiting in anticipation for the next issue of ultimates. Hopefully we can finally get a legit feat, because I'm loving the implication that T'Challa could be fighting a god. Though technically he already did that in Priests run, especially the part where he pimp slapped Mephisto.
Thunderball is part of the "wrecking crew". His wiki page lines up with the conversation.
oh k thanks for the clarification.

agreed. tchalla came off pretty badass in this issue imo.
and storm does not have a god complex lol.
Same. 2018 as a whole is gonna be our reward for enduring the nightmare that is the Coatesverse.
Praise the Panther God.

It's still amuses me to see T'Challa being portrayed in character and prowess everywhere else but in his own solo book where Coates has him locked into milquetoast low grade mode with every issue that drops.

Regardless of Coates, BP 2018 is coming large and in charge with no hangers on or stale relationship drama from yesteryear so I'm all good.
Queen Nakia on deck yo!

Well, let's just say that she thinks she's very elegant and powerful with a hint of divinity :p
Plus, having a god complex isn't a negative thing lol

All I know that if Coates doesn't quit being stubborn and write T'Challa as the badass king he's supposed to be, people are gonna roast him like no tomorrow by the time the movie and cartoon come out.

If he doesn't Marvel might make that choice for him
So I just read up to issue 50 of Priest's run and have no desire to read about Kasper Cole lol. A a pretty solid run for sure, but it fell off for me at the end. Any other beloved runs I should start reading? I'm trying to educate myself before the movie!

It's somewhat a given the new government would still rely on T'Challa. In comics governments almost always kinda suck. Even with the new government he's still king and it's probably important to show that he's still needed.
If he doesn't Marvel might make that choice for him
That's assuming anyone at marvel actually has a problem with it.
Of course I'm excited for the movie. But I can't wait to see what his cartoon is like. And the possibility (more like inevitability) of a BP game! I'm a big ass kid, so the suspense is killing me. T'Challa and the BP mythos is gonna rule 2018!
BP 16
Middle of the road I guess. I have some notes though.[spoil]
-The new govt. council is smaller than previous tribal councils. lol. Shouldn't there be one person from each of the 18 tribes?
-Ramonda going to have to pick a side. She contradicted herself within a few panels.
- If this is the start of new govt., they are already useless and asking BP for help.
-Agree with MoS about fights. Started good, but then went dumb. Animal senses aren't "spider sense" but still. Ezyo, I think you just won your argument with PAC about dodging vs standing still. lol
-That suit Tchalla wore in the beginning was nice. Need to find one like is ASAP.
-Talk with Thunderball was both cool and boring. It will play well in the woke community, but I could also see it costing him more readers. People similar to Diversity and Comics video guys.
-Gods... we'll see. Still not much of an attention getter[/spoil]
You saw that too.
I think that whole scene in that club might get a few riled up. Despite what a certain female said the BP in an earlier scene. And what Piledriver said could have been LEFT out-if someone had did his research about the Wrecking Crew. I think Piledriver would figure a king would talk to a doctor alone.
And what was the point of the previews showcasing Storm and she only had 5 pages? That could have been left out or actually used in a story.

A Black Panther game would be amazing. It would be cool if it were in the style of the arkham Batman games or if it were developed by square Enix ( assuming that they don't take a decade to make it).

The Storm preview segways pretty well from where the last issue stopped off.

Now that you say that I understand. Most governments in comics (and most fiction) are incompetent and really can't take care of big stuff w/o heroes. Them looking to T'Challa for guidance, especially on issues of religion does make sense. But hopefully Coates takes time to show the government leading the Wakandan people boldly and without an over reliance on BP.
oh i know. i was being silly. I love when she goes all "goddess' mode.
Yeah love her or hate her Storm is very regal most times

This issue at hand in the scene appeared to be spiritual in nature. So his Priest status overruled his king status

A more exciting version may have been when the twins were making their racist comments, Thunderball used his wrecking ball to smack one of them into a wall when he realized the type of people he was working for.

Hudlin and Liss. Both are getting re-released later this year if you're reading the physical collections while I believe all are available digitally with possibly a question mark on Liss

Never forget about light movie synergy, look at Nick Fury Jr who currently has one of the best comic out
Read the issue
It was aight
This was the first time that Coates actually pulled a bait/switch that DID NOT end in T'Challa being punked in a fight. That scene was legitimately badass.
I have no issue with Storm's dialogue. My issue with her inclusion will always remain the same. There's too much "one-sidedness" to their romance. Except for the "date night" scene back in issue 13 they haven't shown Storm as having the same devotion to T'Challa as he has had to her. It's always HIM apologizing (bordering on groveling) HIM going after her. HIM needing her. They spent two panels this issue with T'Challa telling Ramonda how important she will always remain to him, meanwhile she's making out with Gambit...

I thought him being able to see what happened to the kidnapped character was cool, as well as him being able to move fast/teleport before that one guy could attack him were pretty nice feats. I personally thought he had great showings this issue for those who have been upset about him not doing anything.
In regards to Storm, Tchalla ended their relationship and had the marriage annulled. How does one expect someone scorned in a relationship to behave? Should she not try to move forward with her life after the love of her life crushed and broke her heart? The burden is on him to do the work if he wants them to work considering he ended it. Storm, by the way, while Tchalla was telling Ramonda how important she will remain to him and Wakanda, was risking her life trying to save the Wakandan people from a storm being generated all across Wakanda by a new god.

Hudlin (Who is the Black Panther) Gives a fresh and retconned origin story.
(Four the Hard Way) Buddy adventure with Luke Cage
Jason Aaron(See Wakanda and Die) Part of Secret Invasion, but you dont need the main story to enjoy.
Hudlin (Black to the Future) One-shot. None Cannon but a good issue.
Hudlin(Back to Wakanda) Return of Killmonger

I didnt think he moved fast. I thought Asha bent light around him to make him invisible.
But I could be wrong. Will need to re-read

You should check out Reginald Hudlin's entire BP run for the most uncompromisingly solid BP portrayal bar none I'm my humble opinion.
David Liss's Black Panther run is damn solid too and an essential part of the BP mythology.
Never forget about light movie synergy, look at Nick Fury Jr who currently has one of the best comic out
On the flip side though, look at Thor. He's got a movie around the corner and poor Odinson is without his hammer, without his name, without his arm, and is essentially a guest star in the Thor title.
I'm not saying movie synergy isn't a real thing... but I don't believe it's the controling narrative for the characters in the comics.
This issue at hand in the scene appeared to be spiritual in nature. So his Priest status overruled his king status
True, he's not just king... he's Pope. So in specific matters of religion the buck stops with him.

i would hope not. what the MCU did with Scarlet Witch is one of the things Marvel got totally wrong IMO.

Which I think will end with issue 6. Since the trade only has 1-6. At least according to the Marvel book that stores have.

Gee I thought she moved on to Wolverine's bed? Rather quickly after getting shown the door.
His burden should be his kingdom-that should have been in perfect shape after Secret Wars. But someone's pets had to screw that up and toss out a narrative that wold never be allowed under other superior writers.

In and out like a flash.
T'Challa needs the joint millstone of Coates and Ororo of his narrative neck asap.
February 2018 we await your coming with much anticipation.
Let all true believers say Asè!!!
Was it me or did he have Tchalla shift the blame for the annulment? BP said "the Priests may have annuled the marriage".
They had that conversation in AvX

Yeah didn't Storm say that T'challa is the high priest?
