As far as I can recall vibranium returned when T'Challa remade the 'world' after Secret War which was a few years after Doomwar-publication wise. I might be wrong. There was even a Spider Man story where a character tried to make fake vibranium. Hickman also had Wakanda adapt to not having vibranium.
The problem is that re-invention often means "ignoring what made the character popular in the first place". The trick is to grow a character organically, not tear everything down and start over.
Agreed. The problem is consistency and sales. But they CAN build up the character through other titles until said character is ready for primetime if that's what editorial is worried about.

Vibranium returned before that. Hickman in his FF run pretty much hand waved all of that away. Got rid of Maeberrys deconstruction so that Wakanda would be at 100% when he proceeded to start his own deconstruction.
200% agreed. This lies at the feet of diminished editorial accountability and i think in small part a lack of respect for the character. Hopefully in the future there will be better attention paid to Panther mythos with future movies building on him.
I don't even think it's an intentional lack of respect for the character... rather I think each new BP writer sort of wants to give the characer a clean slate so that THEIR version is the one we see. Which in an of itself is a sort of disrespect to the previous continuity of the character... but I don't think it's intentionally meant as a slight. I think writers just wanna to give themselves a clean slate so they can do whatever they want. But long term doing that repeatedly is harmful, intentional or not.

still reading the hudlin run. it is really enjoyable reading stories for the first time after other people read it years ago /it is fun being the virgin for a spell/.
enjoyed the civil war arc and the stories were t'challa and storm led the ff. onto the skrulls next!
Honestly I dislike how Black Panther's world revolves entirely around just having more vibranium (not that shadow physics didn't have anything to do with it). It would just be nice for Wakanda to have a bit more than, "Ayyy... Vibranium!"
They do have more that Vb. That is a Mayberry invented trap that everyone runs with. Which is funny because in Mayberry's Shuri mini, he says WK has non Vb based tech. But the art was so bad I don't think anybody read it. lol

Just a side note, that is written by Jason Aaron. Still good though.

Oh your in for a real treat now. For an extra treat, get Dwayne McDuffies bFF run because he also has stories with Tchalla and Storm on some adventures same time Hudlins run was going too

they used bits of vibranium to build various stuff in hickman's NA i do believe
It's more than confusing... I think it's potentially hurtful. If the BP writers themselves are pretty much ignoring his gear other writers using the character will do the same, and effectively BP just because an acrobatic martial artists.
THe vibranium suit at least has stuck. But almost everything else seems hit and miss, because BP writers can't seem to standardize his toolset. If every writer after Priest just kept his toolset intact and REGULARLY used his gear, I think the character would be set. But instead we get this endless cycle of adding and subtracting.
Not potentially, it's down right damaging to a character. Every writer wants to come along and deconstruct a character to tell their own redemption story. Why not build off of what came before instead of dismissing it.
And as far as tech and abilities, T'Challa has had a steady regression in his tech. He's doing inspector gadget stuff like he's still in Hell's Kitchen when he has the most advanced tech at his disposal.

As long as Jason Aaron doesn't cancel Saturday, I should have them signed by that evening.
BP movie worked its magic for me. I had my BP first appearance rated with CGC. Only a 3.5 out of 10, but that is going for almost $500 on mycomicshop.com. I only paid $75
So right, i remember the endless gifs that just seem to add umph solid ass debates\ battles that took place in here. The edge has been removed conversation and i think that vibe is muted up in here.
Add to that the subtle trolling that's gone unchecked in here for more than a hot minute wherein the thread gets hijacked by a minority of posters who aren't even actual BP appreciators and you have a recipe for pure tedium on your hands.
Just look at the amount of pages that were wasted where justifications were being postulated as to why the Adversary was such a "major" threat to Wakanda when said big bad has routinely been contained by mutants on the odd occasion that he rears his misshapen head.
And all of this juxtaposed against downplaying T'Challa's documented victories over Mephisto and outright defeat and subjugation of the Tiger God.
Any BP enthusiast going into a non BP related thread to run down whichever character was being appreciated in said thread, would've been shut down with a quickness.,but here, anyone can drop bait posts designed to rile up BP enthusiasts, with impunity.

Speaking of which... The Adversary. Was it me or did anybody else think that was an out of left field enemy for the Panther to fight? Did I miss a run or two where the Adversary was a Wakanda themed villain?

You didn't miss anything. Even the article reviews were saying Coates messed that one up. Dropping a character last minute that would leave a wide portion of the audience going to Wikipedia. lol
