Seems like the advice T'Challa received just brought him back to the beginning of all this instead of offering something new. It's funny how over in Avengers #29 they make this even more obvious by recapping Captain America's last conversation with the Illuminati.

Fast forward several incursions and either T'Challa forgot he said that or this whole thing is changing his values. Otherwise I don't see why he had to call that meeting. Seems like the past Panthers didn't either since their response was basically [spoil]Of course you better kill that whole bootleg Justice League if Wakanda's in danger. And why is the fish still breathing?!"[/spoil]

That interaction was so good. Made the entire KOTD thing worth it and I hope it sticks and lasts FOREVER. Lots of stories can be had with it. The huge guy with the panther sounded like he didn't play no games during his time lol

I think the difference between then and now is that initially they really just wanted to keep all options on the table. Steve's way of thinking was frankly stupid. As things are right now tho there's no other option than to do "The unthinkable" and T'Challa is troubled by what he knows will have to happen.
-
I don't have a problem with the past Panthers Point Of View. It is going to be interesting to see where T'challa goes morally.
-
what did I miss?
NA 18 paints a cold hard fact about Wakanda and how/why they've sustained greatness over the years that many trolls are going to attack.

Same here....All they did was kick some truth to T'Challa.
Also gotta love that [spoil]T'Chaka[/spoil] appearance.
-
As I said there's nothing to defend unless you want to hold Wakanda to higher standards than just about everyone else. As was said in the past about the whole "cancer cure" it's something that virtually every nation is guilty of doing.

We should all do our best to not get banned trying to defend it
There was a reply to that in the Black Panther annual, btw.

Its great to be back(inhales the fresh Wakandan air!), hope all is well with everyone!

That sounds like more logical thinking that trolls are capable of. I'm sure we'll see scans of the hungry and desolate outside wakandan walls run amuck soon.
T'chaka was good too. Really wish this was a Panther book and he could have more focus on interations and powers associated with the KOTD

Welcome Back. Things are going well--just wish I had my copy of NA #18 now

I haven't bought New Avengers since issue #9 but if Hickman has Black Panther kill Namor I'll buy up the back issues and jump right back in!
Do it Hickman... DO IT!!!

I have you marked down as having already signed it...are my records wrong?
Edit: Actually, I have you marked down as one of the posters I've already sent a message to about the petition, but the mark doesn't indicate whether you have signed it yet or not (since I have no way of knowing if you do or not).

I think Hickman is laying it on thick about WAKANDA FIRST and DESTROY IF THREATEN and KILL NAMOR!
I think he is setting up T'challa to be different. But T'challa has always been different than the other kings.
I have a feeling T'challa is going to be the one that stops them from killing a living world with innocent people. He is goign to stop them and make them think for a way around it at the last second.

At the very least he should be shown trying to reason with them to find a common solution, but they'll be short on time. It also has to be noted that the heroes they're facing have survived multiple incursions so while they're largely honorable they've likely got some blood on their hands too.

I don't know. We see the scene with T'Challa and the Dead Kings conferring and T'Chaka asking why Namor isn't dead yet. At that moment, T'Challa doesn't know that it was Namor who sent Thanos to Necropolis. Right after that scene, I think the Dead Kings will be the one to tell T'Challa what really happened and that's what's going to be the turning point. Namor would be directly responsible for two attacks on Wakanda.
-
Namor isn't dead yet because T'Challa still needs him to some extent. Keep in mind T'Challa said he'd kill Namor AFTER he got what he needed from him. He put the beef on hold because he sees the bigger picture.
-
Anyway...
It seems like Shuri fits in more with the old kings than does current T'challa.

Aww sorry. I was thinking more along the lines of killing the other worlds. Not Namor.
I honestly think Namor is toast now in some way or another. It is one thing to drop the hint once but to do it again 15 issues later? Hickman is either trolling us or he is going to do it
I made my one post and I'm done. You'd think that they were fans they way the follow BP.
They've gotten better. I'm just tired of seeing the same Unfans attack BP and BP fans every time his name is brought up. One person in particular does it a lot. There are a lot subtle digs and slanders at BP fans in just about every post.
If Shuri knew about the Incursions, I'm sure she'd be taking a different approach to things. Also, while he may commune with the Dead Kings, it's not as if he works for them or that the can command him to do anything. He takes their counsel for sure but that's about the extent of it. He only answers directly to Bast.

Hickman pretty much laid out what he planned to do. Anyone still not getting that idea should stop reading it right now.

Quick mod note:
Everyone is free and welcome to discuss the individual issue threads. Namor and BP may be rivals in the comic, but that doesn't mean it has to translate on to our messageboards. We are all passionate Marvel fans, that is why we are so invested in what is going on with the characters we like. So keep that in mind. If you feel certain posts are problematic then please report them. Everyone is also free to ignore posters you don't agree with. Now back to regularly scheduled Wakanda programming....

Thanks funny girl, I mean, Global.

I really enjoyed New Avengers #18. I was hoping we were going to get the names of the Panthers that were speaking with T'Challa, or at least a better idea of when they ruled.

well we got the name of at least one....
I also would have liked to have see a female Black Panther.

Global you are looking more sexier than before the CBR reboot... There is something different about you are you working out? :D
Note to Self: Pay The New Mods Off Properly This Time Around!
I'm leaning towards getting this latest New Avengers issue to see if it can convince me finally that this King of The Dead concept can work moving forward!
Pros and cons sell me on it either way... Any takers!
Which one of you is Genki and which one of you is Victor btw?
-
I haven't had a chance to read the Avenger title today yet (I was only able to sneak off and read NA at work lol), but does it look like it will effect T'challa at all? It looked like it really affected Stark...

I think it was a pro. It showed the kings of Wakanda how you would expect them to be... isolationist and all about protecting Wakanda by any means necessary.

it was minly Cap vs Tony stuff with most of it being a reprint from the issue where cap gets kicked out. He remembers and confronts only tony with a group of the avengers.
Was ok but it would have had way more gravitas if Cap showed up infront of the ENTIRE Illuminati in Necropolis with his avengers rather than just Tony.

Well, Tony is the only one that he sees every day I suppose. None of the other Illuminati are Avengers.
Can someone geographically tell me where Necropolis is in regards to Wakanda? Can you get to necropolis without going through wakanda? I doubt Shuri would like Cap just marching through Wakanda to get to the Illuminati
-
It seems like it's outside of Wakanda. Shuri banished Tchalla from Wakanda but he's free to come and go in Necropilis. And when wakanda was being attacked Tchalla was on the outside looking in before he was to turnaround and handle the bombs possibly being armed in necropilis during Thanos' invasion

It's underneath Wakanda, the main entrance they use is just on the outskirts of Wakanda.

That would have been a very bad idea for Cap and the other Avengers. They would have had to bring everyone with them.
