I'm very impressed by his work. If this keeps up, I'll be one of those hoping that he comes back to the book at some point.
I'm so hyped for BP's movie. I still can't believe I haven't finished reading Priest's run yet though.
It's dense, so forgive yourself for taking the time to enjoy it. Better to really dig in rather than rush through just to check the "Read Priest's Panther Box"
Letitia Wright talks about her role in Black Panther: http://www.interviewmagazine.com/film/letitia-wright#_
Hmmm....
She's princess of Wakanda, but also she designs all of the new technology there. She has an innovative spirit and an innovative mind, and she wants to take Wakanda to a new place. Also, she has a great fashion sense, better than mine. She's so vibrant; a beautiful spirit, but also so focused on what she does. And that's good for other people to see, especially young people to see, because it's like, "Look, there's a young black girl who loves technology and she's from Africa." It's something refreshing.
I hope this doesn't mean they are downplaying T'challa's genius. That's one of the draws of his character. Also, this could end up relegating Shuri to a "Q" type role. I'd prefer to have Shuri played as a genius in her own right but one that is more hotheaded and mentored by her older brother. That way we can show that he is equally as accomplished but is relying on her to help develop his tools as a way to groom her for the throne.
-
Yeah she better be exaggerating or not no what she is talking about otherwise Coates has infected Coogler more then we thought.
T'Challa should not be nerfed or dumbdowned to boost Shuri.

Yea, I dont mind her Designing some of the tech, or having some new gadgets that she designs for herself and even T'Challa to use, But T'Challa is the super genius and that is very important to keep and stick to the character design. during CW they never would actually say T'challa is a genius they kept it very vague, and i hope they are not going to start divvying up his character traits to prop up other characters. They are there to support T'Challa while staying true to their traits. You don't see Pepper Pots taking the credit for building Iron man suits, so they shouldn't take T'challa's intellect and give it to Shuri, and it would be very frustrating to see that happen. they are different, Shuri IS indeed smart as she had nearly the same education minus traveling outside Wakanda, but T'challa is the super genius. They can say though that she and T'challa design the Tech in Wakanda though, or that she has designed some of the day to day Tech, whereas T'Challa focused on the military and defense side of things.
He's probably going to be a part of the new Avengers team that comes out of Infinity War.
I'm glad he's been confirmed. I kinda see him, Doctor Strange, Thor (and Captain Marvel if she's in it, can't remember) to be the ones to reunite the Avengers.

I'm trying not to read into everything she's saying word for word (although she's capable of saying exactly what she means). While adding that aspect is a cool thing I think, you are both right in hoping T'Challa's genius isn't downplayed. I've always seen Shuri as the BP to use more tech/weapons since she doesn't have any powers IIRC (I might be wrong about that though). I think having T'Challa being a mentor to her and letting her design new technology can be a good way to have her carve her own path separate from him, while he's on the throne. I also like the idea of her being like his Q. T'Challa being similar to James Bond in the sense that he uses (and understands) technology designed by people including Shuri makes sense. Although I'll be honest when I say I don't want to see T'Challa use so much tech in this movie. We still haven't seen any of his enhanced senses yet.

Pretty much this. Now granted he was on Iron Man's Team nominally so he didn't get a chance to show it plus not his movie but I agree.
You don't see Stark, Thor or Rogers losing abilities to make Potts, The Warriors Three or Bucky better.
As for how much tech he should be using...well Thanos is coming so I expect more tech for infinity war.

I'll try not to be so worried (even though it is a little). The way Coogler talks about T'Challa and how much he seems to be drawing from Priest has me really confident in his portrayal. He seems to understand that T'Challa is all-encompassing

Well lets hope D23 takes care of this.

Also, new Complex interview with Nate Moore:
What’s great is that people have already met Chadwick [Boseman] in Civil War, so now we get to jump in feet first without having to tell a more traditional origin story. We meet him as his world is changing. Black Panther takes place right after the events of Civil War, so T’Challa’s father has just been killed, he has returned home to Wakanda, and T’Challa has to navigate potentially becoming the new ruler of this nation. He never intended to become the king for years because he figured his dad would be around for a long time. T’Chaka’s death is, in a lot of ways, the catalyst for everything that’s happening in Black Panther.
Definitely. I would take my time with Priest just to enjoy the complexities of plot and writing.
