Again, we don't knoe who they are or how they damaged the suit. The single picture doesn't tell us that. It might nit be just the bullets at work here. Something is happening that we don't have a full understanding of ... hence the need to read the actual story rather than judging the book by its cover.
I'd like to believe that based on what Coates has delivered so far, people know what to expect from him irrespective of what's on the cover.

I have to admit if anyone else was writing the title the cover wouldn't bother me at all. My assumption would be that BP is going get up and open a can of whup ass on those dudes. Now I think "Hmm. I guess T'Challa will look at them disapprovingly. Perhaps he'll really cut loose and give them a stern talking to."

Funny How all of those look dramatic without Making T'Challa look weak at all.

Why is his costume damaged in this one again?

this was the skrull planet arc where Johnny Ben and T'Challa had to fight in the arena

Lol. Yeah the cover itself doesn't bother me. I tried the first few issues of Coates' run, didn't like it and stopped reading it. I barely remember anything about it, so I don't recall all the instances of BP on his knees that someone mentioned a few posts back. So I get where Xpac is coming from and Panther in a torn costume is no big deal to me. Having said that, I have zero interest in finding out if that cover reflects the contents of the book (and if there is a reason given for bullets affecting his suit) because Coates is still the current writer.

I have a theory which I need to re-read everything to prove and feel free to correct me if Im wrong.
Because Hudlin had BP using the tech that caused weapons to explode and nobody got close enough to knife, and based on the way he removed the cowl, I have been thinking that Hudlins's BP mostly used a cloth version of the habit. When time came for real combat(Killmonger) he broke out the thrice blessed armor.

SO I watched the last two episodes of Avengers secret wars, during one scene BP went into an electronic store and put together some electro magnetic device on the fly, it was strait out of Liss's panther!

I honestly wonder if that wasn't on the cover just to make him look like Batman.

T'Challa jobbing out to threats that aren't even close to his weight class...same old same old.
Meanwhile in the MCU, bullets are still shown to be worthless against Vibranium.

That's a good point. Apart from Priests and COates, the standard outfit seemed to be cloth. Or at least the mask seemed to be.

I personally always loved the cloth, as I've made clear. That being said, once Priest went down this route, which is to make basically a bulletproof cloth armor, it doesn't make sense for him to use the standard costume.

I personally think he should always wear the vibranium suit over a cloth one as well.
But if you wanna play devils advocate about it... maybe the vibranium weave suits slow him down a LITTLE and there are some occasions where he might prefer the cloth variation. Course, the meta reasons are likely just writer/artist prefernce.

Made sense when he fought Killmonger in Priest's run, It was a ceremonial fight, and so there wasn't the use of extra protection to make it fair, he would use the ceremonial garb. So there is still use for it the ceremonial garb, but in his Day to Day, the microweave makes more sense.

There has been no mention of the weave hindering him what so ever, so there is no basis for that claim at all. It more so came down to the artist in terms of how advanced the habit looked.

Like I said, I think the meta reason is likely artist/writer preference. Because as Cville alluded to, I think pretty much all the artists under Hudlin make it seem like cloth. Does he ever mention having a vibranium suit in that run?

Considering he pulls out the Energy Daggers, and uses anti gun tech to blow up guns, And the fact that the light armor formed over his habit, suggests that its more then simply clothe. But at the same time it T'Challa specifically opted not to go with a vibranium suit (except for Hudlins run with the armors) But the point i was getting at was there has been no mention of him being hindered by the habit what so ever, so to say that he uses a clothe habit because a vibranium suit may slow him down makes little sense
