I cut cable over a year ago but if Smoov-E says buy a season pass bc it speaks louder for support, then I guess i'm buying a season pass to speak loudly my support

New badass poster and a new solo cartoon series!! Coates is looking more and more irrelevant day by day.

Amen. I wonder what villains they're gonna use for the series. Hopefully Madame Slay or Achebe will show up. Killmonger and Klaw are obvious locks due to the movie.

He was irrelevant from day one.

So we're getting a Black Panther mini-series for the next Avengers season, which I guess is more practical then just giving him a full-on animated series but just as awesome .
I hope Disney coughs up the money for some good budget and animation. The Black Panther deserves a cartoon that doesn't look like the other Marvel cartoons as much as the movie has already proven it won't look like your average Marvel movie.
Geoffrey Thorne as the showrunner is a good start.
I'm also expecting Cree Summer and Kimberly Brooks will probably end up in the cast for this :p.

Maybe it's a potential backdoor pilot for his own series if it's well received. Fingers crossed.

Geoffrey Thorne as show runner can't be mentioned enough as he is a top tier writer
Lane then announced after Season 4 of Avengers, there will be Avengers: Black Panther Quest. Two 13-episode series that will be a Black Panther series,
I took that as two thirteen ep series that will make the Black Panther series, since the Avengers seasons are typically 26 eps.
Not that i give a shit either way lol

I thought the wording was kinda odd. Should've just said 26... it's already common knowledge that they take long breaks midseason... or really at any random moment.
Hell they debuted the 2 parter for season 3 a month ago and we still haven't gotten episode 3 yet smh.
Now if there's a time gap or something major at the end of 13, then i guess i'd understand
I cut cable over a year ago but if Smoov-E says buy a season pass bc it speaks louder for support, then I guess i'm buying a season pass to speak loudly my support
A lot of people are cutting cable in favor of streaming as for example both Sony and Microsoft offer cable-esq packages for their respective game consoles( I tried the Sony one and while it's good I already pay for stuff to not need this ) but it's been documented that streaming services have paid big money to get shows and that a lot of companies like Disney have been getting a whole lot of money from digital sales as you'll notice cartoons lately don't get a full season DVD/blu ray release.
We don't have the main comic anymore but we got a lot of better alternatives fam, what a time to be alive
-
I don't think Marvel truly meant the extra Doc series to be long lasting. I think it's like you said, "Here's material for trades".
Fair point.
Why should long term Black Panther enthusiasts who actually give a damn about the mythos, have to "manage" in the face of Coates continued dimishment of T'Challa's character and Wakanda as an intellectual concept?
Is settling for milquetoast the new real now?
It's not about settling. All I'm saying is that there will be more than enough BP material in many mediums to satisfy our BP fix. In the eyes of the general audience, the BP-verse will be defined by that.
The comics will be what they will be, at this point. If Coates improves, great. If he doesn't, it unfortunately is what it is. Same principle will apply to the next writer.

An animated TV series? Praise be to Bast! I'm hoping it's of good, non-Coates quality
An animated TV series? Praise be to Bast! I'm hoping it's of good, non-Coates quality
These people said the series will show why Black Panther is the greatest superhero of all. That alone tells be Coates bullshit won't be present here.
-
Maybe the greatest hero of all. Well, duh. BP focused for 13 episodes is cool news. Next step, his own series.
-
It's just so incredible. We have a movie coming out next year and our man is going to get an epic showing in Ifinity War on top of that. We also have an animated series coming out as well. Disney is really seeing the potential for Black Panther and are going all out with his franchise and meanwhile Coates still can't seem to get the character right.
-
Black Panther getting his own series is the dopest news I've heard from SDCC so far
-

Two sets of 13 episodes, they like to take breaks in the middle of a season and the seasons have been running at 26 episodes

Storm could be there again. Just like BP's first animated series which I really love. :)
-
I know the showrunner has written the mosaic book but can anyone give more info and insight about him and if he is a good choice for the series?
-
author=MindofShadow
This is just bonkers.
You got a movie coming that looks insane
BP leading new avenger in cartoon
BP gonna be in tge biggest super hero movie of all tine with IW
And his own freaking cartoon?? Where they say "greatest suoer hero of all time"
Its hilarious that the stuff disney is directly involved in sees the potential of the BP franchise while the f*cking comics treat him like a c list chatscter

Couldn't have said it better

Are the Avengers cartoons these days any good? I sort of quit on it the first season.

Highly doubt it. Besides didn't Marvel give Fox the green light in terms of X-Men tv rights?
-
Are the Avengers cartoons these days any good? I sort of quit on it the first season.
Well thankfully Black panther has consistently been the best part of the new avengers cartoon, heck they even got his voice actor from EMH to reprise his role.
-
I clicked on the link and got scared through animation was going to be done in that Spiderman artwork.
Personally like the Assemable artwork and design if that's the route their going, hopefully with better scripting.
I know the showrunner has written the mosaic book but can anyone give more info and insight about him and if he is a good choice for the series?
He's written episodes for Star Trek TNG and novels in that franchise, Ben 10 Omniverse & Ultimate Alien, Law & Order, Leverage, The Librarians. Comic wise he's done Knight Rider and various series for Dark Horse.
Thorne is one of those writers who is one of your fav writere's fav writer as the man can hit all the story beats and can slide in and out of any genre with ease
-
And who knows? If they play their cards right, maybe this new BP show can be one of the all time greatest animated superhero shows.
-
Geoffrey Thorne as show runner can't be mentioned enough as he is a top tier writer
A little while ago in another thread on here Thorne said he was one of 3 writers up for the BP book. Marvel editorial chose Coates.
This makes me think Thorne's ideas for the comic will be incorporated into the show.

And if they're better by far and away what is going on in Coates comic then more than ever we can look at Coates and Marvel Editorial like this

Yeah. I only know him through his writing of Mosaic, but that alone has me interested for this even though Marvel has not had a good track record for animated in awhile, imo.
