I agree it makes no sense... but really bigotry never did.
But as far as people being discriminated against because they have some sort of mixed ethnicity... it does happen.
Again I'm not talking about America. I'm talking about Wakanda, and like MoS just pointed out. There is a big Whole in the x office " Wakanda hates gentle because he is an outsider (Which he is not)" so in bit sure why you keep making blanket statements when I talking about Wakanda specifically

Frankly I think xenophobia is more likely in a small isolationist nation than it would be in America.
But we're talking about entire nations here, so obviously we won't get everything thinking one way or the other. But there are always a few extremists in any bunch. That's just how it is.
I don't think the idea is that ALL Wakanda hates outsiders. Just a couple bad apples in the bunch.
Take T'Chaka's first wife from Rise. People were sort of gossiping behind her back, and she was a legit Wakandan who was treated like an outsider just because she spent time away from Wakanda. And those were adults.
Gentle is likely dealing with other teens. And he's both ethnically mixed and a mutant. So anyone who might hate or fear others because they are different will hate Gentle ten times as much.
It's crap, but it happens.
What page was that? I saw one say a rumor about being refugee which suggest she is just not well known in the capital. Others comments were about how skinny she was and the amount of time she spent in the lab.
But Gentle is treated special. Hunter and the Queen felt like outsiders initially, but won the people over. Shuri is half Wakandan and nobody says anything. Venomm is an outsider, started as a villain then joined the military.
I don't mind the preview because it's just a flashback. I would expect by now for Gentle to be excepted like everyone else, but that doesn't happen.
Also his mother has no reason to hate him. She should have been hating on that outsider d*** if she feels that way about her son.

It'll be interesting to see if AvX effected Gentle treatment one way or the other. Him bring an Xmen at one point might have hurt his rep a bit.
But Storm was able to win back public opinion. Maybe Gentle can too, if AvX was even an issue for him.
It is so freaking dumb. No respect with what came before it. Anyone that accepts "Wakanda hates Gentle because xyz" is suspect.
Queen Mother is an outsider.
Shuri is only half wakanda.
Neither are hated. Both are beloved from what we have seen on panel.
It is crap. Typical X office crap. Use Wakandan mythos when it benefits them but never celebrate it. Always throw shade. Always.
Meanwhile the preview thread for this is more concerned about Wakandans wearing shoes in the house.
Not something that can't make sense.

Again the hole is that all of Wakanda does not accept and will never accept gentle and that he is hated there, when there are several examples of that not being the case. No one in Wakanda would hate gentle because he IS Wakandan. Yet you keep saying making vague and blanket statements and "that's just how it is" when on panel showings say otherwise.

I don't think the idea is literally everyone in Wakanda doesn't accept him. Just that some people don't. But of somewhere on panel it states that xenophobia cannot and never will exist in Wakanda then yeah .... Gentle retcons that. Apparently it can exist there, just like it theoretically can anywhere else.

The Marvel Legends Black Panther wave sold so well that they're doing a second one.

7/148 posts talk about wearing shoes inside the house.

His mother wouldn't say it that way if they weren't trying to make the point that supposedly gentle cannot stay in Wakanda.
And again like you keep glossing over, Wakanda has shown time and time again that outsiders and half Wakandans can and bare accepted there and guess what, gentle IS Wakandan.

Clearly he can stay in Wakanda, because he chose to return.
And I think the point you are missing is that there is no hive mind in Wakanda. Some people are fine with outsiders, but that doesn't mean there aren't SOME xenophobic people too. Just lie in the Xmen books there are some people cool with mutants in the States, and some aren't.

ok i don't get this crap so i'm going to ask a silly question here, how did Bruno, who is white, manage to go to college (exchange program) in Wakanda and not go through this? is the issue about being mutant or biracial?

It's not about being a mutant. It's about being a character tied to the X franchise. Lol. A few pages back someone post a scan with him saying WKs don't care that he is a mutant.
-
Let's be honest, X office REALLY wanted to say that Wakanda hates White people but didn't have the balls to go through with it (thankfully) so they just tried to dance around it as much as they could.
So they made Gentle a mutant Halfy... and then said he isn't hated because he's a mutant, and its obvious his Wakandan side isn't hated..... but keep pointing to his russian white dad and saying Wakanda doesnt like "outsiders."

Come on... this is the X-office pandering to there core base. The ones that love the minority metaphor but not actual minorities lol

Wakanda hates outsiders and white people so much they have an exchange program where they took in a white, outsider, disabled dude and another wakandan student with royal lineage broke into a facility to try and help him out.
Man, I don't know how Bruno deals with the discrimination. Sounds daunting.
