I was referring to the CBR poll comment. Polls in general are just a representation of who/what the general interest of those who took that particular poll. On another site the poll could be very different but again at the end of the day it doesn't matter as long as people are excited about the films. It's great news.
Stop reading that hate it's depressing and focus on much more exciting things going forward...

Howard University... Okay I'm sold where do I buy my tickets?
Speaking of which if any of you can try to purchase extra tickets to support the box office numbers and make certain that your tickets actually say Black Panther on them and not Terms of Endearment 2 so that this film is accredited properly for whatever revenue it brings in!
In the past there have been situations where you bought a ticket for a particular film featuring someone black and the credit was given to another movie to show that films starring black folks don't sell very well!
And Gosh Dang Darnit Doo Hickey do not... And I repeat DO NOT try to stick Kevin Hart up in there anywhere as if you think he is needed to sell this movie just because!
This is not a comedy nor a dromedy (Comedy + Drama) but a movie with great potential for political intrigue, mystery and adventure!
And get those Gangsta (C)rappers away from the soundtrack... Quincy Jones and a bunch of jazz musicians are ready to take your call and they will need no help reaching the Hip Hop audience I can assure you of that!
Anywho...
My polls say that the Black Panther is trending 100% and the Haters are secretly loving every minute of it... You know who you be!
I'm new here and I want to read some Black Panther stuff before the movie comes out. Any suggestions, I liked him in the New Avengers Vol.1.
Priests run. There's also an essential out there. The recent runtil by Liss. MarvEl unlimited service should have it.
Priest is the definitive run
Hudlins run deserves a look too

If you're looking for trades the best stuff to get would be:
Black Panther Vol 1: The Client
Black Panther: Enemy of the State
Black Panther: Who is the Black Panther.
Black Panther: Bad Mutha
Secret Invasion: Black Panther
Avengers: Red Zone
Black Panther: The Man Without Fear
Black Panther: The Most Dangerous Man Alive
I cannot stress to people enough: If you want to read the bulk of BPs stories they are available on Marvel Unlimited along with 1000s of over books for 9.99 per month.

My friend who cosplays is talking to me about cosplaying as BP at a midnight showing
Just saying that.......this might happen

This is true, but something else needs to be said:
McDaniels was looking for a reason to water down Static. Or "un-politicize" him. He was acting up even before that poll came up.
CBR was just the smoking gun.

Yup, I still point to that CBR interview as the first clear sign of trouble. Dude straight up said what made Static unique was that he was "urban".
But enough of that foolishness.
In regards to THE BLACK PANTHER FILM....One of the things Feige mentioned that I'm most relived about is him saying the film would be about T'Challa AND Wakanda. I had been saying in this thread for yrs that I wanted the film to treat Wakanda as a character unto itself and wanted the film to be primarily set there. I'm glad Feige and the others recognize the importance of the Golden City.
I know people keep saying "ooh I think they're fighting in Wakanda in the teaser trailer". My response to that is "They better F&$#ing not be in Wakanda!!" The only black people I saw in that entire trailer were Rhodey and Nick Fury. Wakanda is supposed to be a isolationist African nation, so there shouldn't be a bunch of white people running around.
you cant keep white people out of places
in 20 years we are going to be a real pain in the ass as a minority group
i was particularly tickled to read marvel people referring to wakanda as technologically advanced

Lmao.
@Kasper.
KF also seems to hint that Wakanda is going to be powerful. Powerful enough that it is viewed as a problem/threat when it is revealed to the world in Cap. Civil War.

Yup, it's really looking like they're not going to water the concept down like many of us had feared.
In terms of the coverage of the announcement it's been mostly good though obviously just surface stuff. I've only seen one troublemaker type article, but that guy was seriously reaching.

This message is for Victor Freeman and Victor Freeman alone so put it on ignore right this very minute... Not now but right now!
Okay are you ready... Here goes!
Just say "NO" to the flippety flip style martial arts and yes to the full blown MMA style ground and pound!
(Runs out of thread quickly)
Victor Freeman: "Hey you... Get back in here I saw what you did there!"
Flex Hectic: "I know you want the whole Donnie Yen type fight scenes but it's time for something new so that after the movie plays you question whether or not Chadwick could jump up in there and get his UFC debut on!"
So what do you peeps suggest something like the Blade fight scenes or just straight Fedor Emelianenko pound all that stylistic stuff into utter unconsciousness for the sake of a quick victory end of?
The Black Panther invented his own style of fighting but if he is doing various martial arts styles on screen that are not as old as 10,000 years does it give you that off vibe like Snake Eyes doing Wushu instead of Ninjitsu?
Phone lines are open...

I actually did list "Secret Invasion" and I didn't mention the others because they're not collected in trade.
Hopefully the movie coming out will finally give Marvel the kick in the ass they need to put out the rest of Priest's run in trade.

sorry didn't see that at first
you can actually get the individual issues for the on ebay and amazon which shouldn't be too much
and new avengers should be on the list as well

Oh I know the individual issues can be found, but a lot of people simply don't like digging for individual issues. Most of the folks who've asked me about Panther stories are looking for trades. I believe Priest's run, The Panther Maxi series, and Panther's Prey are the only ones that haven't been collected in trade.
Wakandans. Bow down before your king.

This is dope!!!
I wish I had time to make a costume close the the films concept art. I think we'd see a LOT of Black Panther's this year if they had announced it sooner.
We've talked quite a bit in the past about diversity in comics, something you've been a proponent of -- knowing there is not only going to be Black Panther in "Captain America: Civil War" but that the character will get his own film a year later, has to be a proud moment for you as Editor-in-Chief.
Alonso: It's a great time to be Editor-in-Chief. Right now, we live in a world where everyone knows who Captain America, Thor, Iron Man, Hulk and Black Widow are. Pretty soon, they're going to know Black Panther, Captain Marvel, Dr. Strange and the Inhumans. That's going to be make my job easier. And not only are female fans going to have another kickass female hero to root for, when the Black Panther peels of his mask, a lot of people are going to see a bit of their own reflection. They're going to relate to him on a fundamental level.
The fact that Marvel Studios' slate is so diverse says a lot about our commitment to have our books reflect the world outside your window. The beauty of Marvel characters is that each is defined by the person inside the costume, not the powers, so there is always characters that speaks to you. Doctor Strange, Black Panther and Captain Marvel will definitely speak to new fans.
I think readers know how these things tend to go at this point -- is it fair to say there are further plans brewing for Black Panther on the publishing side, maybe a new solo series?
Alonso: I see big things for T'Challa. Big things.
With you all the way on the soundtrack, Flex. For some reason Mr. Miles Davis' All Blues goes through my head when I think of T'Challa coursing through the Wakanda jungle. Kinda incongruent I know, but..

It's Marvel, there's no way he won't be overexposed when the movie comes out.
Man, I hope they force Black Panther and Captain Marvel down people's throats.

I hope they bring back Hudlin to write the series with Greg Land on art.
And the book can be called "Black Panther: The unbeatable perfect BLACK Man" and it be about him going around the universe taking out other heroes with a kick to the shin.
People are going to give me crap about this but I actually liked Doomwar.
Except for some issue that kind of affected the bp mythos but from a storytelling point of view
I thought it was fun

Umm don't know about Hudlin but we will see
i would call it The Mysterious Black Panther if he gets a solo series
