I imagine they'll keep parts of Monica's character. For one, the community activist angle is now much more relevant today than it was for a long time, so there's interesting stuff to play with there.

Yeah, I think the movie is almost obligated to address some social or political messages (without obviously turning it into an after school special or anything like that). So I think having T'Challas love interest be something like an activist would be a nice organic way to give those sort of issues a voice.
And in is case I think that's sort of the specific draw to it.
In almost every Disney Prince or Princess movie ever made, the Prince or Princess doesn't end up with another Prince or Princess. They end up with a "normal" person like you or me. And that constrast is what becomes the story. It's what brings them down to earth and makes a character like this relatable.
Personally, I don't want T'Challa to be brought "down to earth." He's been pushed to achieve excellence since childhood, and he more or less continues to do so in his adult life. His significant other, whoever she is, should reflect that.
Plus, one aspect of the T'Challa and Storm marriage I liked was that T'Challa wasn't the only dangerous person of the two, let alone the most dangerous in a lot of cases. I'd love for a similar dynamic to appear with whoever T'Challa ends up with. And hopefully she's either a super heroine, a very well-trained warrior, or someone who's exceptional in defending herself.
I better get on twitter and tell him how much I hate her then
I'd take 10 ross's instead and Im not a huge Ross fan .

I don't even want them to use the name Monica Lynne. Just move away from that completely.
I can envision a scenario where Tilda Johnson is a genius level SHIELD agent sent to be a liason to Wakanda.
This is rather interesting lol.
In the past 48 hours alone, we've seen:
-A strong Nay for Ross
-A strong Nay for QDJ
-A strong Nay for Monica Lynne
And this isn't counting the reservations expressed in the past by other users concerning supporting characters like Shuri, M'Baki, and White Wolf, among others.
Which brings the question: is there a supporting character that the BP fan base, as a whole, really like (or at the least don't have a problem with)?
I'd wager the closest to that distinction might be......T'Chaka? After him, maybe Ramonda? Zuri? Dare I say, Killmonger?
You don't see anyway that she can become a viable character other than death or dismemberment?
Well, they can fix anyone I suppose. It would take a radical departure from her portrayal by Priest though and if that is the case, is it even the same character?

Hunter and the Doras as well.
I think for the movie at least it'll be very possible he falls in love with a SHIELD agent.
Movie Jane Foster wasn't really comic Jane Foster. They just slapped the name onto whatever female love interest happened to fit the story. My guess is they'll do the exact same thing with T'Challa. Find some role fits and just slap the name Monica Lynn on her. Because there's no real fan base to the character, they'll change her as they see fit.
This x10000

Not that radical at all. Take the same energy and passion and focus it on to something else. That worked well for Shuri. Make QDJ a socio-political activist. Her brash approach would definitely ruffle feathers.

Dora's for sure. Is there anyone that doesn't like the Dora's 100%? They are one of my favorite aspects of Black Panther

Completely forgot about the Doras, they are indeed very well-liked.
I recall someone really not liking Hunter / White Wolf a while back. For the life of me I can't remember who it was. But he/she may have been the exception?

This may in part explain why so few BP supporting cast members make it to the next run of the book. The big exception is Shuri... but she definately had her fair share of criticis too.
I think ultimately it takes time to really get people investing in a supporting cast. And I don't think the effort was necessarily made to really support them. That said I suspect the movie will change that.
As far as T'Chaka... his last appearance didn't particularly win me over. Not that I'm against in anyway them using him for the movie and such... they pretty much have to. But I don't think the T'CHaka fan club really grew too much once we got to see more of him.

I don't remember any major flak about Hunter.
I think the bigger question is why so many of BP's supporting cast rarely make it over to the next transition/title like supporting casts do in other titles. There's very little consistency.

I think it's actually important to EVENTUALLY make characters like him feel like real people.
Priests Black Panther was near god like in his uberness... but I think perhaps my favorite BP scene in the run was him quietly in tears confessing to Storm that he was afraid. He builds up this near perfect poker face... maybe the best poker face in marvel. But sooner or later I think the narrative needs to allow us to see whats behind it. Of course that doesn't need to be done with a "normal" person... Priest did it with Storm. But it's more a way to make the character and situation relatable to readers.
None of which of course means they have to go that route... but it's done for the reason it's done so often because it achieves a certain effect.

I think the issue is probably that aside from Shuri most aren't super heroes.
Guys like Peter Parker and Clarke Kent are unique in that so much of their stories focus on the non-super hero aspects of their lives. So we get to see Mary Jane and Lois and Flash and Jimmy, etc. T'Challa, like most heroes have stories largely focused on punching out bad guys. And that potentially leaves out non-super supporting cast members.
Shuri was an obvious exception as she herself was a super hero. Hudlin made damn sure that the next author couldn't NOT use her.

You would think some of the Wakandan supporting cast would be easy to use though. They aren't helpless side kicks... their warriors. So, any story involving a Wakandan conflict with T'challa punching people, you could easily add them in as well, punching henchmen right beside him.
Kind of like how Shuri has her HZ protecting her and right next to her... just need to give some of them a "name" IMO. Also makes their death more meaningful when they inevitably bite it..... or take a mean back hand from T'challa
