I want to say it was inevitable that the powers that be would step in and course correct. But they should've done that from jump instead of wasting season 1 with all that hot garbage. Better late than never but never fucking happening is better.

Although it's kinda weird hearing someone comment that no shade was thrown T'Challa's way in T'Challa's own book. It shows how low expectations had sunk when the titular character being treated with respect becomes a pleasant surprise. Maybe one day, it'll become the norm again.
I was going to say the same thing, funny how when Tchalla is written on Character and treated how every title Character gets treated by Coates, ot blows people away
Honestly I doubt editorial works that way. See Dr. Strange when his movie came out.
Strange’s movie won’t have the same cultural impact the BP movie is building too
Any idea what the soundtrack of Black Panther is gonna be like? Hearing Vince Staples in the trailer made me go, "oh, whaaat!?"
It was touched on a couple pages ago, the trailer themes have been all Disney Marketing while the movie itself will have African instruments

Maybe. But if they honestly felt his story was an issue they wouldn't have approved it in the first place. He handed the entire season 2 script in months ago. Point being the same editorial that approved the last year and a half approved the latest issue.

Not really as things change as nu52 has shown, as hype for the movie builds and they see how they don’t have the comfort of the Coates fan bubble mixed with internal changes ie Alonso Season 2 ain’t set in stone despite being green lit. Even people in film will tell you things can change on the fly with a script or anything

I just read the latest issue and I'm curious to how he will respond to the knowledge he was given. It does make things a lot more complex than what I originally thought. It was a really good issue though and it seems we are finally getting closer to the mystery as to what happened to the Wakandan gods.
I guess you can see it that but the originators attacked the founders of wakanda first and they defended themselves. They (the founders) didn't force them off their lands only until they attacked first. It's quite different from white colonialism.
Yeah, I suspect what some might call colonialism at the time, the early Wakandans would call self defense.

exactly. even with the self defense argument it seems tchalla was very disturbed by his ancestors origins. this is why I'm curious to see what will occur if he can somehow bring the Wakandan gods back. it also seems that what was occurring with the originators attacking is separate from what klaw is doing.

I havent read it but this is how bleeding cool viewed it.

I think this was a case where there are 2 sides to the story, and neither was entirely innocent. But the winners get to decide who was right in the end. That's just how history works.
Maybe the end result will be the originators living in Wakanda again. They can try to share it or whatever. Wakanda has a galactic empire anyways, so it's not like Wakanda is likely hurting for real estate.

Is there any belief that Coates is not trying to make Wakanda an unlikable place? If the first arc wasn't enough this issue should be more than enough evidence.
-
I miss the simplicity of Wakanda's origin: a nation that was never conquered by whites, nor their African neighbors. As a result, they were the one nation to develop uninterrupted in Africa. In doing so, the nation became advanced. As a side effect, many Wakandans became insulated, snobbish, and xenophobic. However, writers like Priest, & Hudlin did this with comedic sensibilities. With the discovery that Wakanda is technologically advanced, and filthy rich with Vibranium, neighboring countries, and outsiders want to take over, and exploit the land. Like any country on Earth, Wakanda is separated by competing tribes. Many of these tribes want to rule Wakanda. I can honestly see BP dealing with one coup every six months, or so. A key point of T'Challa's rule is to defend his land from internal & external threats. He also has to balance the old traditions with modern sensibilities. BP has this conflict internally due to the time he spent away from Wakanda to learn about the world.
These are enough story concepts for the BP saga.
It looks like MCU is following those concepts.
I honestly don't see the need for the horrid (and I dare say stereotypical) concepts Coates has introduced.
Damn...Bland Panther....that was epic....imo.

Not unlikable, just complicated and multi-faceted. I like Coates' portrayal of Wakanda. I'm not interested in an idealized society. I think it's more interesting to see layers to Wakanda that we haven't seen before.
Today's issue was excellent, by the way, one of the best of Coates' run.

What has Coates done? :mad::mad::mad:

The only thing left for Coates is to write Doomwar 2.
