BP is doing well because its a very good to great movie..
No other MCU movie had to deal with fake trolls ratings etc...
Yet its one of the best rated and Top Grossing films of all time.
I wasn't aware that pointing out areas that were problematic in the movie for me as a viewer qualifies as being "negative" but hey, what do I know.
I'm the "negative nancy" who went to the theatre to watch the movie twice and have been a BP enthusiast for roughly four decades.
Sorry for not being overly eager to leave critical analysis in the dust.
Might as well call me an Unfan next.
I don't think Ezyo was talking about you. There where some seriously negitve post earlier from a new account which I dont see anymore. But the responses to it are still present.
I expect more from the character a movie is centered around.
I got more from the supporting cast than I did from the primary and the fact that a lot of folks not even remotely familiar with T'Challa as a character, are saying the same thing, says a lot.
I've watched this movie twuce now and will be buying the Bluray once that drops so my credentials as a BP enthusiast, are unquestionable.
I expected to see T'Challa as dominant in this movie as his counterparts such as Iron Man, Thor and Captain America were in their respective movies.
Hell, a T'Challa as clinically efficient and deadly as the one who showed up in the Russo's Civil War would have been awesome complete with clearky delineated fight scenes but what we got in the BP solo movie was a BP who was just there for his entire supporting cast to overshadow in much the same way as is case in Coates run.
That's my opinion as an enthusiast and someone who's watched the movie on more than one occassion.
I was alot more invested in Erik Killmonger's journey than I was T'Challa's and that's something I find quite problematic for a plethora of reasons.
It’s one thing to personally expect more but it’s another to state outright that T’Challa had zero feats.
Him jumping one story without the suit.
Him being able to run fast enough to keep the momontum of running up the side of a building. Then jumping with enough strength to cover what looks to be 50 feet with enough momentum to catchup to a moving car that was ahead of him when he jumped.
T’Challa causing a moving car to sharply turn on two wheels requires the same or greater strength level than holding down the helicopter. If you took the physics of the feat the amount precise force required to acccomplish this is not only a strength feat but a feat requiring a mathematician. Caps feat to hold the heli just required brute strength.
T’Challa jumping 2 storeys to clear the shields
T’Challa man handling a charging Rhino.
T’Challa precisely calculating the “hell of a move”
The problem is all this was CGI, so everything felt weightless so to you it doesn’t feel like he accomplished anything. Whereas Cap’s fight scenes are CQC and actual humans on wires. So the fighting feels grounded.
The only thing we can hope for in the future is more practical effects rather than CG in the fight scenes.
In WS Cap got the shit beat out of him at the end. Bucky was outmatching him throughout the movie. It took BW, Falcon, and Cap working together to overcome Bucky.
Yet in CW, BP would inflict absolute fear into Bucky. Because T’Challa was out for blood not because he was the hero of the story.
In BP, his fathers death, the burden of a country suddenly thrust onto his shoulders, his struggle to figure out what type of King he wants to be, finding out about the lies his father kept, his father murdered his uncle, abandoned his cousin and left him to basically die, shows doesn’t matter how strong you are mentally, even the mightiest will break.
The fact that T’Challa overcame all this is a bigger feat than any hero in the MCU had to overcome.

Brotha Maj that comment wasn't directed at you. The is a difference between being constructively critical and throwing negativity. The negativity was from the new account (that Looks to be deleted now) trying to throw shade. I Know bit everyone is going to absolutely love it,
even fans of Bp, but that wasn't anything at you, but at a hater trying to get cute

Nice break down, and it's true. No other hero's in the mcu (or DCeu ) have had to go through as much stuff as Tchalla has or have half the responsibility as he does on top of being ko g of a Nation, the nost advanced on earth
title is kind of clickbaity but it is an interesting analysis

Look at Tony soon as he found out his parents were killed by Bucky. Compare and contrast what happened. T’Challa spared Zemo then prevented him from shooting himself. Whereas Tony, who is supposed to be smarter thanT’Challa couldn’t think logically enough that Bucky was mind controlled and went for blood. Then at the end of the fight breaks up his friendship with Steve and has yet to forgive either for the mistakes that weren’t even in their control. And he knows were the truth.
And people are clamouring T’Challa isn’t the hero we should look up to? It's annoying that people consider Tony a hero and T'Challa not one.
Not to mention how T’Challa puts woman ahead of him yet Tony constantly objectifies them.
That is the problem when you make political movies. People only side with what their political beliefs are rather than look at the big picture. Unfortunately BP hadn’t to be a political movie in order to introduce people to the Black Panther mythos.
The thing that really bothers me is in Homecoming really ruined the aspect of Steve on the run playing that workout video of Cap. You would think people would be pissed at Cap for abandoning his country, especially with how patriotic Americans are.

I felt he was more dominant in his story than all of those characters except Iron Man. It's been known for a long time by even people who like the films that Loki is the true star of the Thor movies and Steve Rogers has never been the most interesting character in any of the movies he's appeared in. There's a reason they made Civil War an Captain America movie even though is was a story encompassing the wider MU in the comics.
I liked Killmonger, but I feel how much spotlight he took is overblown. Then again, he is one the better Marvel villains.

In WS, Bucky held his own against Cap because he was armed to the teeth, and Cap didn't want to unleash against his best friend. When it came down to hand to hand at the end, Cap overpowered him. The Bucky Cap fought, and the one T'Challa fought were two different people.

He didn't know it was Bucky until the end of their second encounter.
