BP 2 Spoilers.
[spoil]
- T'chalal destroys an entire fleet himself. he is obviously enhanced while the others are not. NO one knows how he is doing this.
- cut to the emperor... aka movie Killmonger with a weird symbiote acting like suit. does bad guy stuff (aka kill and torture)
- they talk a bit about a prophesy of T'challa the Wise.
- the rebels were after the Mkran crystal and got it
[/spoil]
Pretty much summed this up in four sentences by the way. Read it fast before i have to work so I might hav emised somthing.
Acuna is CARRYING this book right now. THere is very little substance here. Would have been a fine "action filler" issue except... we just kinda sorta had one of those and we still don't know what is really going on other then "rebels good, empire bad."

I was going to call it a wash at around a 6 for wasting an issue, but the second half was really good. Mostly an info dump, but the art for those scenes helps to sell it.
[Spoil]It is strongly implied that Tchalla shows up claiming to be himself(lol) with his memory intact and the empire captures him and wipes his memeory. Also pushed strongly for time travel, but not confirmed.[/spoil]
Wakanda Forever: I would say her Long Live the King stuff was better. One line made me think she doesn't care what Coates does either. Lol.

If this was Sprouse or Stelfreeze or Whoever drew most the book last season, this book would be a dumpster fire.
butterflykiss I applaud the effort but you are not a Jedi yet...
Storm: "Achoo!"
A kind elder on Wakanda's council hands Storm a tissue, a towel and a blanket to wipe her nose, dry and warm herself.
Storm: "This is a madhouse I tell you... I could have died from that fall! Would you please take these mutant power dampening bracelets off my wrists so that I may dry myself off of my own power!"
King T'challa: "I survived that fall myself it could have been worse... Nakia was working you something fierce why didn't you use your lock picking skills and remove the bracelets yourself?"
Storm: "Do you mean like think under pressure and all that contingency planning you do... That's not my schtick I usually just overwhelm opponents with my drastic WHOOSH powers and keep it moving!"
King T'challa: "Your inability to adapt also affects the sales of your ongoing comic as well as your movie verse background eye candy appearances... You seem to be a difficult character to depict once you take away your WHOOSH powers!"
Storm: "Ignore the outcome of this fight... COME BACK TO ME!"
King T'challa: "Wade, could you please break the fourth wall and tell her and her fan base the problem with that very statement!"
Deadpool: "That's just lazy writing!"
King T'challa: "Thanks Wade! I think I know a way that you might stay here in Wakanda and fulfill your unrealistic dreams of being queen of a people you could give two FRAKS about... Just speak the right words and you're in!"
Storm: "No fooling... If I say those magical words I have your word as king of Wakanda that I will be queen!"
King T'challa: "You have my word... Now say it loud and proudly so that all the elders can hear you clearly!"
Storm stands defiantly dropping the blanket, towel and tissue to the floor then clears her throat placing her left arm crossed over her right arm.
King T'challa: "It's right over left... But please continue!"
Storm corrects herself and prepares for the enunciation of her life...
Storm: "WOKE FOREVER!"
King T'challa: "Nope, try again!"
Storm: "WOLVERINE FOREVER!"
King T'challa: "You got the FOREVER part right and the first word does began with a W however... Nakia!"
Nakia arrives from behind the same curtain Storm had appeared earlier, stands at attention, crosses the right arm over left and...
Nakia: "WAKANDA FOREVER!"
King T'challa: "See how she does that without hesitation and without divided loyalties elsewhere! Wakanda needs a queen ready to lay her life down for it not someone who's mind is miles away at Xavier Mansion nursing baby mutants that overshadow her!"
Storm: "I can change I swear!"
King T'challa: "Right now you are like the old chick in da club trying to do the latest dances with these young folks and stay hip and relevant but even with the buyout of FOX by Disney this relationship is getting long in the tooth!"
Storm: "WIKIPEDIA FOREVER!"
King T'challa: "Just stop... To be honest I never freeze when I see you it's over BYE FELICIA!"

storm has always had feline eyes. her character was created from mixing a previous character the xoffices were going to create called black cat but they changed it by mixing her with another character they were going to create who could control the weather:

BP is just being consistent with her aesthetic canon wise by drawing the cat eyes. it has nothing to do with bast:

To be a bit odd. I don't know why there is a need to create a victim complex here. Frankly, most people last issue said it was fine/good too and praised the art. The ones that had problems with it gave reasons and discussed why.

Exactly, he is not trying to overwrite the story. The art does the work.
Which is the "Marvel Method"

As far as the victims mentality goes... can you honestly say you've never read a poster say or at least imply that some posters who like Coates work are "unfans?" I think that's sort of where that comes from. Perhaps not intentionally, but I do think at times the criticism of Coates work bleeds over a bit on some peoples opinions of other posters.
That said, it's hardly the mentality the majority of posters feel. Just a few here and there, so it's not as big an issue as it may feel like at times.
-
Exactly, he is not trying to overwrite the story. The art does the work.
Honestly I think comics work best when they work that way. Comic aren't novels... they are a visual medium. I think when when you can tell a story without the word balloons getting in the way of the art, you're doing it the right way.
The downside is that it can make for a quick read. But overall I think when the visuals can carry the load, a story just works better.
-

I feel it is a bit TOO simple at the moment.
I would have preferred a background issue that tells us what is going on. What is the Wakanda Empire? How did this happen? What universe are we in? Why did they go bad? ect ect.
But, at least the art is pretty and T'challa is a bad ass. Could be worse.
But every issue we have that is nothing but action means we have less time fleshing out the new characters (aka EVERYONE because it is a complete new cast), less time explaining the the Wakanda Empire, less time on the plot... it will eventually have to start rushing to conclude everything. Which is a problem the last two seasons had.

Because that mystery is sort of the heart of the story, I think they are holding off on telling us that till later. I think they are dropping bread crumbs as far as hinting on what's going on... but I doubt we'll get any concrete answers until at least halfway through the story.
-
So, T'challa... powers wise...
[spoil]it looks like he was using the Soul Stalking thing to be able to all that **** he was doing right?

I must disagree. While comics are indeed a visual medium, it is the combination of the words and the art that tells the story (with very few execeptions, mostly written by or in homage to Larry Hama). I have seen what happens when the role of the writer is downplyed and the artist is made paramount: Issue after issue of splash pages and pinup shots that went from mediocre to marvelous, but had the literary content of a laundry tag.
Or, in other words, the mid 90's. ;)
There are exceptions, of course. Artists who are also writers, or equal partners with the writers. But if there isn't SOMEBODY thinking about characterization & plot, you might as well just post the pages to DeviantArt or Tumblr.
(As for this week's issues... I find I no longer have any forks to give.)

butterflykiss this just slipped out my pocket and posted itself I swear...

After watching the digital display fade back into the Kimoyo bead Storm righted herself.
Queen Romonda: "That video says it all... Thank you for having tea with me."
Storm: "Queen mother I..."
Queen Mother: "I'm not your queen anymore than you are a loyal Wakandan but it appears that you are more in love with this Logan fellow than my son."
Storm: "It's complicated."
Queen Mother: "It's actually not complicated you don't belong here and deep down you really don't even want to be here. I'm sure all those allegories of Charles Xavier as Dr. King and Magneto as Malcolm X has you longing for some type of 'integration' with an assumed outside society intrigues you but that's only when it a certain number of a particular fan base even really cares."
Storm: "But..."
Queen Mother: "I'm not finished... Look, my son is a key part of a franchise that did 1.3 billion dollars in sales on one movie alone while your attached franchise would have to combine it's total grosses since the year 2000 to compete with that. Do the math... Black folks were dancing in the aisles at screenings and are now doing Wakandan salutes worldwide even at major sporting events. Wake up sister the only place your relationship actually exists is from a WOKE writer trying desperately to feature something both fan bases left behind after the Hudlin years. This is bad even by Romeo and Juliet standards no one is checking for a white haired, blue eyed love interest in a heavy African based sci-fi fantasy."
http://www.boxofficemojo.com/search/?q=x%20men
Queen Mother looks down and stirs her tea and then looks back up at Storm...
Queen Mother: "Even light skinned actresses stepped aside so as not to interfere with this project what's your excuse?"
https://www.bet.com/celebrities/news/2018/03/01/young-starlet-turned-down-black-panther-light-skinned.html
Queen Mother: "Everybody gets it but you... Are you a stalker now?"
Storm: "No, I never meant..."
Queen Mother: "It's okay girlfriend it's just me and you talking trying to reason this out. Why upset two sets of fans with this dead-up-in-da-streets issue and drag it on indefinitely? You can't sell an ongoing comic by yourself and you appear to be nothing more than this Logan's side chick when Miss Jean Grey is not at his disposal. What value do you bring in revenue to my sons franchise? Are you a homeless intellectual property or what?"
Queen Mother sips her tea and then sets the authentic BP Disney mug down, smiles warmly and waits for a valid answer.
Strom: "But... But... There are Wakandans who worship me as a living god what about what they want!"
Queen Mother: "THEM N!&&@$ OVER THERE... SHEEEEEEEEit you talking crazay nobodyy FRAKS with those primitive idiots way out there this is downtown Wakanda where we have running water and internet access! For that matter we could just as easily worship Thor or Silver Surfer who are way more powerful than you. You are looking for a reason to stick around here because there are no real plans for you back where you came from."
Queen Mother squeezes a little honey into her tea, stirs and sips again.
Queen Mother: "I'm not necessarily kicking you out or saying you have to leave Wakanda right at this very moment but... Bye Felicia!"

Not great or spectacular, but good ( I give it a 6.8) also zero shade/disses thur at BP.. while not amazing writer comic so far, the BP franchise would have been a lot better off if she would have wrote world of wakanda versus the trash we get..

I really applaud you for taking time out to politely speak out on the reverse psychology victim Hood that passes for commentary in this thread from time to time.
butterflykiss this just slipped out my pocket and posted itself I swear...

Queen Mother looks down and stirs her tea and then looks back up at Storm...
Queen Mother: "Even light skinned actresses stepped aside so as not to interfere with this project what's your excuse?"

Storm aka Coat tail rider.
Majority of people actually like it..
It's the the loud minority in certain BP groups that will complain
No matter what..
They simply don't like Coates ..
You mean the ones who were here DAY ONE?
Who struggled with Priest to keep this book afloat?
Who supported this book when Hudlin did stuff like a certain marriage and other stuff?
Who supported Shuri while BOssman was asleep?
Who endured the nonstop trolling from Namor, X-Men and unfans after the marriage got Diary of a Mad Black Woman by Jason Aaron-that got this thread shutdown MANY times.
Who supported Black Panther acting like Daredevil in a silly storyline?
Who went through the period of no Black Panther solo and instead of attacking/lying about folks like Moon Girl, Draken, Carol Danvers, Inhumans, Red Wolf, Starbrand & so on as the reasons why he could't have one-with MORE respect than a LOT of so-called fans.
Who did not set fire to books
Who did not chase fans out stores
Who did not call Disney to get Axel, Joe and other fired because we weren't being pandered to
Who did not chase creators off of Twitter
Who did not create HATE to go after Kyle.. I mean Storm or Midnight Angels.
Who did not troll threads of we want Ted or Rich.
Who ALL have Coates a chance. And like a REAL comic book fan SHOULD act-if we don't like what we see-we don't BUY IT.
Complaint is defined as "I can't read a book about Bruce Banner because MOON GIRL has a book."
What you are seeing here is criticism-"Based on what I have read........"
Lets learn the difference.
