Based on the costume, I'd say that's Karla Sofen in her Meteorite identity, although she's better known to most as Moonstone.
Physically restraining Karla is actually a descent feat, though she might be momentarily dazed or whatever. She's no push over.
The Life of Captain Marvel. Beginning of her fresh start I think. I don't know if having childhood trama turning into panic attacks is the way to go. Lol
Does anyone know which way to go with Carol?
I mean, her basic origin is being positive collateral damage, radiation being filtered through Mar-vell while getting saved. Not exactly one that screams 'girl power!'.
It kind of makes sense though. I imagine most well adjusted Wakandans would just stay in Wakanda closer to their family and attend the Wakandan school we saw in the Hunt.
Gentle was shipped off to Xaviers because his family didnt want him.
Given how bad things got with mutants around this time I honestly don't think any parent in their right mind would send their kids to Xaviers.
So I guess Prodigy's parents were nuts then? It was Xavier's or get beat down by racists everyday.
As were Synch's parents since the cops were ready to Tamir Rice him.
It doesn't make sense if he grew up around them.
It doesn't make sense the ONLY character that gets bashed based on race, sex, gender and belittled powers (According to certain fans) invites him to her wedding to Panther and has him in her team.
It doesn't make sense he stays with them after they turned his homeland into Hurricane Katrina. Even Queen Shuri would say "baby come home."
If Momma didn't want him-I am sure Wakanda got ways to take care of pregnancies. And why is HE hated and not her? She gave birth to him, laid with a non-Wakandan and accepts abuse from the Wakandan version of Chris Brown.

If you have no better option than Xaviers school thrn sure ... Go to Xaviers school.
But Wakanda had its own school, which as far as I can tell seems safer. Plus it's obviously closer to friends and family.
Yes you can argue the mom shouldn't have had the kid in the first place if she didn't want him ... But that sort of thing does happen in real life, as messed up as it is.

Thing is, Wakanda is not America. No way I. Hell would T'Challa or any Black panther be cool with letting one of their own get shipped off somewhere else, and Wakanda as a whole would definitely not say he is the welcome. See Ramonda, Kasper, Qdj.. do Again this is just x office hating on the BP Mythos and throwing shade and making the most offensive safe negro black male they could

So his Mom wasn't raped, she had an extra marital affair with a Russian explorer?

I'd assume T'challa would be reasonably okay with a Wakandan bring shipped to the school his wife works at.

Well they looked hugged up. His mother hating him makes no sense unless she woke up nine months pregnant and went into labor.

They were not married yet not even engaged.

My bad ... they didn't get married till later that year.
So I guess we gave to assume T'CHALLA ( assuming he cared enough to even be involved in the whole thing) was fine with it even without Storm entering into the equation.

First they weren't together, second, again for it makes no sense for Wakandans to not accept him because he IS Wakandan, even outsider's straight up like Ramonda were accepted. Him being half means nothing and Tchalla wouldn't be cool with his mother shipping him off and being hostile to him... Especially since she married and outsider but then hates her son? Stupid lazy writing on x office side with little care about BP's mythos. Too concerned with their safe negro castrated male nicknamed gentle...
-
It is so freaking dumb. No respect with what came before it. Anyone that accepts "Wakanda hates Gentle because xyz" is suspect.
Queen Mother is an outsider.
Shuri is only half wakanda.
Neither are hated. Both are beloved from what we have seen on panel.
In fact, the one time someone did challenge Shuri, it wasn't because she was half outsider ont he throne, it was because she had a wild streak when she was younger and was on the Kim K route.
It is crap. Typical X office crap. Use Wakandan mythos when it benefits them but never celebrate it. Always throw shade. Always.

I agree it makes no sense... but really bigotry never did.
But as far as people being discriminated against because they have some sort of mixed ethnicity... it does happen.

I don't think the idea is that ALL Wakanda hates outsiders. Just a couple bad apples in the bunch.
Take T'Chaka's first wife from Rise. People were sort of gossiping behind her back, and she was a legit Wakandan who was treated like an outsider just because she spent time away from Wakanda. And those were adults.
Gentle is likely dealing with other teens. And he's both ethnically mixed and a mutant. So anyone who might hate or fear others because they are different will hate Gentle ten times as much.
It's crap, but it happens.
