I think what bothers me the most, is that editorial has been ridiculous enough to let the x office be so petty when BP is blowing up.
"Hey BP just hit 1 billy on it's first movie! Let's add gentle to an x book and start shade throwing on the BP Mythos! That's how we will capitalize on the success!!"
I absolutely agree. It’s irritating.

I also hope that Ryan Coogler's energy level is maintained for the sequel as well. Black Panther having a shorter production schedule did him no favors I think. He needed more time to really craft that battle.
The fights in Creed are so detailed. You see examples of how detailed he is with fights during the Waterfall and Casino scene. The final battle? No so much. Everything looks rushed or they simply let the 2nd Unit director take over.
This wasn't even the best fight of the movie, but it was still incredibly well done and epic. How do we go from this

Coogler didn't suddenly go from great at shooting fights to mediocre. He needs to get the right people back shooting/editing and he needs to go back to more practical shooting locations.

I don't think it is fair to compare a boxing movie action to a super hero comic book movie action set piece involving tech, rhinos, weapons, super suits, super humans, and a train....
-
My problem with the film is how jarring the some of the technical aspects compare to everything else. People are saying Ant-Man and The Wasp's CGI is better.
The CGI was completely different. They just made stuff bigger or smaller and re-used quantum realm stuff.
Budget wise, AM's budget was tiny compared to Black Panther.
Still the fact that the audience % on RT is closer to the first two Thor movies is weird to me.
Naw, that ain't weird, we know exactly what happened lol
1. movie made certain types of people uncomfortable. Generally people don't like to feel uncomfortable at a super hero movie.
2. there was a blatant campaign to sabotage the score.
You're quite right. Somebody's going to be mad no matter what. But shouldn't you try to appeal to long time fans as well as draw in new readers instead of totally pissing off the fans who will make up the backbone of your readership?
These are the fans in it for the long haul, who've been with it through good and bad. You don't give them the middle finger.
I think new fans who would have read your BP would have been hooked.
What happens when somebody watches Avengers: Black Panther's Quest and goes dude is badass!
Then, if they decide to pick up a comic and sees a depiction of a highly advanced third world country with treehouse rape camps and entertaining dictators, they'll probably go wtf? Who is this guy and where's the dude from Black Panther's quest.
I know I would.
So in short, you are right, people are going to be pissed off, mad, etc. But you don't want to piss off the wrong group. New readers are iffy. Hardcore fans ride for life.
Give me your version all day.

I câme up up with what I call MOORE'S LAW decades ago. Basically, a new writer on a franchise must consider everything that has happened previously to have actually happened (unless Editorial is bringing you in for a hard reboot/rework). No matter what your plans are, going forward, you can't break the toys and stories people already love.
If you look at Alan Moore taking over SWAMP THING and his story ANATOMY LESSON you'll see how he did this perfectly. It is a Law I live by when out comes to existing properties.
That said, there are always character loopholes to exploit or modify but EVENTS? They stay rock solid unless you're dealing with an event like the Crisis. So, I was very happy that MARVEL ANIMATION let us make our own show in our own way because there's really no way I can think of to do anything with the current Panther book that wouldn't shatter everything Coates has done. I'm not the guy for that.
What I hope is our show will give a third alternative for Panther fans to enjoy in the same way that the HELLBOY movies, comics and toons are not the same but are still all very much HELLBOY.
When I'm reading, I'm 100% fan. When I'm writing, it's more like 30%. 70% is making sure I tell the best story possible. I never think about the fans when I'm doing that. I'm just telling the best story. You won't like EVERYTHING we did on the show (or maybe you will. I LOVE it) but, if you liked how BATMAN: TAS got the ball started for DC ANIMATION, you will be down for what Marvel let us do with PANTHER'S QUEST. It's something new. Truly.

This reminds me of that old comic series where all these Marvel heroes had their own Mecha robots :p.

Well said brother. Not only does this refer to T'Challa, but to all comic book characters. Don't piss off the ride or die fans. We will be the ones that will always love the character and follow what they are going through. This might sound corny, but some of the worst times in my life what keep me sane was reading Iron Man. I figure if Tony Stark could be with me for some of my worst days then I can do the same for him.

They need to employ the fight choreographers and stunt coordinators from "Into the Badlands" for the sequel in terms of the action.

I looked at that book in the store.....
That had to be the MOST offensive thing I have seen in a Marvel book since Mettle got killed. Especially when Gentle got slapped by Mommy. Then white savior Jean "saves" him.
And Storm just sitting there......
I will NEVER buy anything with them in it. Until a house cleaning is done.

Rise of the Black Panther sales proved there are enough hardcore Black Panther floppy buyers to keep a title alive by ourselves if you give them something they don't despise lol

That is a bold statement. TAS "is" Batman. When people ask who is Batman, TAS is where people should point you to.
"The Batman" was a divergence from TAS and it took a couple of seasons to get going.

I think between EMH and this cartoon we've pretty much gotten a definitive animated T'Challa (and EMH was the Batman: TAS of Avengers cartoons).
Hopefully this will be able to do the same treatment for Panther's villains and supporting cast.
-
EMH is my first or second favorite T'challa (movie version is in contention).
EMH T'challa is why I became a T'challa fanboy and started reading BP comics.
