Nick Spencer, Reggie Hudlin, or David Walker would be my top picks. But lord it would be something if Christopher Priest came back to the BP mythos.
No to David Walker.
His iteration of Nighthawk was straight garbage.
Hell no to Yost.
What is wrong with Yost? I only saw i would give him a shot because his worlds apart was surprisingly god showings for T'Challa and Wakanda, even though it was an X title.
I would like to see Mike Deodato do some art for a BP solo.

Whaaaaaaa?
I know it's a little early to be counting chickens. But in the event Coates does leave the book, who would you like to see take over the series?
I've mentioned before that I would love see Warren Ellis do a six issue run.
I've decided to give Aquaman a try, I think Dan Abnett could do a decent job.
I year ago I would have said Mark Waid, but he might be spreading myself a little thin these days.

I didn't even pick up his Nighthawk but i remember Walker on Cyborg and i wasn't impressed.

I wouldn't mind this

His Cyborg fixed much of what some fans had a problem with in nu52 Vic, but it was slightly bland. Nighthawk started out interesting, but quickly fell apart, I wonder if it's cuz he knew it was cancelled almost immediately. PMIF was better, but I think it was derailed by Civil War 2. I guess Cage isn't selling well, but so far I like the story. I really enjoyed his take on Shaft.

i felt that Nighthawk's premise would have been better as a Night Thrasher series instead.

Bro, Worlds Apart had loads of subliminal disses aimed squarely at T'Challa, Wakanda and the marriage itself.
Yost is one of the last people I'd want anywhere near the BP mythos.

I hated Walker's Nighthawk just as much as you hate Will Smith's After Earth.

That is due to who you get to work with on books.
Remember Cyborg's editor was New 52 Static's editor. You saw how that ended. Same guy under the current run and Katanna's solo.
What Walker wanted to do and that editor wanted to due gave you what you saw and still see today.
Fake fans of both those guys in PMIF used Sanford Greene as an excuse to not buy the book. Yet books with worst art got free passes.
In another time and place Nighthawk would have worked.
Cage like many books are victims of folks praying for guys to be fired and end the SJW network that is "killing" Marvel. Despite the fact the majority of complainers have not read a damn book. Like they haven't read DC the company they praise for pandering to certain segments. Never mind the growing number of ticked off fans there.
Shaft worked out because Dynamite allowed Walker to do his JOB. Like he did with Number 13 & Darius Logan Superforce.
When you have agendas and sorry narratives you get mess. Like Coates run.
No writer will work if editors want to continue to see fighting Wakanda Life Matters, get lectures from Storm, shade from the X-Office and PETS take over a book in ways that Duke Thomas will never do in Batman.

NO NO NO
Cue Namor laughing. Not that I dislike Cap, but maybe Marvel will take complaints about what a scattered and boring writer Coates is seriously when the negative feedback starts flooding in. And I'm not even talking about the inevitable complaints about his race. They are not going to reap the same amount of cash they did with him on BP. Too bad Marvel doesn't understand what he's doing to T'Challa and are allowing him to wreck Steve as well.
I know it's a little early to be counting chickens. But in the event Coates does leave the book, who would you like to see take over the series?
A Black male or & Black female comic writer that has a proper & great understanding/knowledge of BP, Shuri & Wakanda - how thet shound be shown/written.. That's also an actually fan of the concepts & has a great understanding/knowledge of Afrika..
*hands you a copy of Iron Man 2.0*

Great point my brother..

I thought Yost did a pretty good job with T'Challa in the Avengers:Earth's Mightiest Heroes cartoon too.

This plus I question his over respect of BP myths, From his writing you can see he like/respects CJP work alot & some of Kirby aswell. But other than that not so much.. Also he created the insult of character that is Gentle/Nez
No to David Walker.

I like his version of Nighthawk, JMS's version oddly enough is the one I don't like

What were the subliminal disses?
I would like to see Mike Deodato do some art for a BP solo.
I would like to see deodato on BP as well.. but personally, I want to see Rocaforts Wakanda and more of his panther. His version is my favorite after MCU panther

Yea there wemre thing's inside eyed for sure and things that seemed pretty stupid, such as gentle being banished because his mother was with a non Wakandan when history has shown that that obviously isn't an Issue. But his portrayal of Tchalla wasn't bad and I definitely Saw traces of Priest. The fear thing was stupid too.
But I see what you mean.

It was like a diet coke version of the JMS version
Nick Spencer, Reggie Hudlin, or David Walker would be my top picks. But lord it would be something if Christopher Priest came back to the BP mythos.
I honestly dont think Priest will ever again have a desire to write BP.
Now I could see Hudlin taking another crack at it. It would be more than welcome

I think they should let him write his Crew book and have Hudlin get another run, atleast 3-5 years worth. Talking to him recently he still has stories left to tell
Is it wise though? Having a writer with a successful run come back to write for the same character/franchise? It almost never turns out well

I think Priest sort of made his views about writing a character of color (or at least being offered black characters) in general. Maybe he'll change his mind down the line, but him returning to BP probably isn't happening anytime soon.
Also, I think there's sort of this understanding in comics that you usually don't return to a book that you had an iconic run on. You end up sort of competing with yourself
But I do wish there was a bit more closure to his run, as a lot of his plot threads were never really resoloved.
It was like a diet coke version of the JMS version
That was left open and out in the sun too long.
Just bland and unsatisfying.
I was very disappointed. Squadron Supreme and Nighthawk were big fails all around.

Eh Priest doesn't want to be typecast as writing only books where a Black Guy is the lead.
He has nothing against writing or using Black characters in his books...see Deathstroke yes it stars Deathstroke but we have seen plenty of Black and Asian Characters in the run.
Is it wise though? Having a writer with a successful run come back to write for the same character/franchise? It almost never turns out well
Well for Priest I would say let him write a crew book because it was cancelled before it even began and unlike Coates book it was actually pretty good. So letting him explore that a little would be cool.
For Hudlin, he has said that he in recent times that there was more he had in mind, hell his version of Doomwar would of been 100x better the the crap we got. So if Marvel greenlit him with as much support and creative freedom that Coates has been Given... I would love to see what he would of finished up with. Hell I would love to see him put together his Black Avengers team book he originally pitched at marvel before being given Black Panther
Bring on World War Wakanda.
Writer: Nnedi Okorafor with notes from JMS (to help transition to comic format, a problem I see with many novelists making the leap to comics)
Art: Afua Richardson

Afua Richardson was the cover artist and the artist of the Zenzi story.
Alitha Martinez was the main artist for WoW (which is the one I think you're talking about).

My personal vote for art duties would be Deodato.
But marvel probably wants a black creative team, which for PR reasons is somewhat understandable in the present climate.

If you want Priest writing anything you are going to have to give him a set number of issues to work with before hand.
His story endings tend not to have satisfying conclusions.
They more or less just...kinda stop.

What? Her covers were the best part about the entire series?

Ah okay my mistake. The Cover art was better and Zenzi's story was definitely better art the the rest of BP WoW1-5. but i would say for a BP solo i would say maybe have her do the cover art and be a sub in if needed but would still have someone else do the art for the book itself
What? Her covers were the best part about the entire series?
I Was mistaking Her cover art was good, but I would have her stay on covers or be a fill in for artwork if needed.

I'd like to se David Liss write a fully powerd panther with all the tech and cash at his disposal!
Some artist I want to see draw BP..
Kenneth Rocafort
Roc Upchurch
Diogenes Neves
Afua Richardson
Mike Choi
Ashley A. Woods
Kenneth Lashley (again)
Scot Eaton (again)
Clayton Cain
Jae Lee
