I'd agree if not for the fact that they got Robert Redford to play a one off minor villain in the last Cap film.
Apples and oranges.
Redford's leading man days are mostly done unless we are talking about a geriatric drama like The Lion in Winter or Robin and Marian.
Denzel isn't playing OLD dudes yet. Not the same way Danny Glover is now.
The lead in Equalizer was explicitly middle aged.
Besides, you don't go from just starting your own action franchise (the end of Equalizer is a set up for the character's further adventures) to be in a bit player in one of Marvel's.
Perhaps folks are thinking of how Marlon Brando (and even Russel Crowe) playing Jor-El.
I'm not sure T'Chaka will get as much screen time.
I think so too. If Denzel were to appear as T'Chaka, it'd be a bit part that he'd probably do just as a lark. Another example would be Glenn Close in GoTG movie.
Of course, i could see a scenario where if there were sequels, he could appear in flashbacks...

I agree, I don't think Denzel would consider it something above his status to do.
But back to a point I made earlier, this move has to do well overseas as well as domestic. If you're going to do a movie about an African nation, they you have to strongly consider having native African actors/actresses in key roles. Denzel in or not in the movie won't make or break the movie. Having his name recognition would be great I agree but it's not something that I think is vital for this movie to be a success.
-
Good point
but if you look at denzel's filmography, most of the time if not all he always plays the leading man in them and for them to cast him as a plot device in a marvel movie will be something ho would not be interested in. However who knows I might be wrong but time will tell
Marlon was still hot from the Godfather when he took the part. Marlon could pretty much do whatever the hell he wanted at that time.
But yeah, it would be a stretch for Denzel to play a one-off role.
The guy that played Thomas Wayne in the recent Nolan Batman films was not even an American born actor (but then, most of the actors were not even that hot black secretary), but he pretty much nailed the role.

Marvel may want to consider black thespians from Europe, too.

75% of FF7's audience were non-white. Also a large Hispanic viewership. This is why I said a Latin american or Mexican star should be cast as White Wolf. OR maybe even diversify Wakanda (yes I know it sounds silly). Money talks.

Diversifying Wakanda undercuts the very concept of the nation. I'd be fine with the white wolf being played by an actor of any race though.

The question is would they be willing to put White wolf in the film, considering the fact that T'Challa has other side characters that might overcrowd the film? S'Yan, T'Shan, Shuri, Wakabi, Omoro, Ramonda, Dora Milajes, N'Gassi and T'Chaka. They will have to be careful in putting white wolf in the film not just for diversity sake

They don't need to diversify Wakanda. They can represent other races and cultures through other nations.

I have a question. So the only possible white people in the Black Panther movie will be the villains right?
I have a question. So the only possible white people in the Black Panther movie will be the villains right?
No, I fully expect Ross to make an appearance in the film.
Though as we saw with Hudlin's series even if just one of the white characters is a villain some people will say all of the white characters are villains.
-
No, why would you think that?
Because when I watched the BP cartoon series, I didn't see white people in Wakanda.
I have a question. So the only possible white people in the Black Panther movie will be the villains right?
I'm sure plenty of white characters aside from villains can make the film. Characters like Ross for example. Also I think there are pretty good odds that parts of the film would take place outside of Wakanda.
-

This...
Feige already said part of the film will be about the rest of the world being introduced to Wakanda.
I'm fine with parts of the film taking place outside of Wakanda, but i want most of it taking place within the nation. I ALWAYS hated the idea of the film primarily taking place in NY.
-
Because when I watched the BP cartoon series, I didn't see white people in Wakanda.
There were numerous white characters in the various Black Panther series who were not villains. Wakanda is an African nation that is a closed society to the rest of the world. A lack of white people appearing or living there doesn't mean they're all villains.
-
My two cents...
The diversity part of Furious 7 is that like Heath Ledger as The Joker in The Dark Knight Paul Walker passed away adding to the need to see one of his last works!
None of the other sequels did these type of numbers so it does not mean that diversity is what sells but the overall expansion of the franchise at the right particular time in history matched with the tragic loss of someone a whole lot of people liked!
Lord of The Rings/The Hobbitt still has no black people in it and does blockbuster movies regardless... What you need is a great movie whether it be all black, all white, all female or all mixed significant others!
The Hunger Games versus Catwoman is a good example of whether a female lead can sell well or not as one story was pretty decent and the other sucked all the air out of the room!
As far as Black Panther villains go they already have star quality with Andy Serkis as Klaw and possibly Raw Leiba as Killmonger if that role is still on the table but perhaps this guy as Achebe should be considered...
https://youtu.be/OCpUjERoMKI
The Black Panther is not really that hard if the right effort is put forward but overcrowding the franchise with so many nonessential characters can ruin the movie going experience!
Right now they need to look for a credible love interest either in the form of Princess Zonda, Malice or one made up on the fly too keep this film at least in the date movie category for that extra revenue!
The white people in Wakanda is the real story as Klaw could have obvious reasons for being there to move the meta plot but also The Avengers themselves showing up just to say hello!
Just as I did not demand black people in Lord of The Rings I do not demand random white people in Wakanda except for specific characters like Stark, Steve Rogers and maybe The Daily Bugle's Peter Parker doing a story on this mysterious nation!
Wakanda is set up to be something different and never before seen in cinematic history so we do not need Ross to hold our hand through the guided tour...
Hunter to me at this point falls in the MEH category and is best left in certain comic book story arcs... I would rather see Malice do what he does and set up other dynamics as a Dora gone wild than the crazy white step brother!
This was cute about a decade ago before it got old real quick...
https://youtu.be/vdpQ3fcZlKA
Don't worry about diversity for diversity's sake just be creative with what you got already!
Carry on...

I can think of several "white" people who aren't villains in the BP mythos. There's Evrett Ross and Nikki from the Priest/Hudlin runs. There's Kevin Trueblood from the McGregor run. There's Vennomm & Hunter, who've had varying levels of "villain" to them. Sofija, from Liss's run is Serbian, though I don't know if Serbian counts as "white" for Americans or if they just get slotted under "Scary Slavic Gangster" stereotype.

Hunter is a Wakandan citizen and Black Panther's step brother. He wasn't born in Wakanda nor were his parents Wakandan. He was adopted by T'Chaka.
Are there actually white people/ white Wakandans living/staying in Wakanda?
No, it's a very isolationist state with a strict immigration stance. Unless you count Hunter as an adoptee, there are no "White Wakandans". Closest thing would be the "White" Azanians.
-
There are white foreigners living in Wakanda, but besides the mixed White Wolf, there are no white Wakandans.
And even that's a very recent development. T'Challa loosened Wakanda's isolationist policy more than any previous King. Think Azzari might have been the first to allow an outsider in the country, and T'Chaka was the first to marry an outsider.

I see. Thanks a lot for your answers. :)

Neither is Tom Cruise, doesn't mean Tom doesn't look sillier and sillier as time progresses. The smartest thing Michael Caine and Jack Nicholson did (both former leading men) was understand it was time to start doing more supporting roles. It gave their careers far more longevity (and also meant they could dive back into lead roles ever so often).
Denzel would be an awesome T'Chaka. A king needs gravitas, Denzel has that in spades.

They cast Glen Close in a near pointless role. I think the buying power of Disney is pretty bloody huge.

Yann Demange
Dee Reese

No physical similarites don't matter. But I wouldn't pick Ving.
Physical similarities look like the reason Ernie Hudson may be up for the role which screams of crappy uncaring casting.

Out of that list, Ernest wins easily. He's been doing good work for the longest. Ava would be second, and then maybe Assante or Demange.
Absolutely not on Gray and Ridley though. Cary's got the skills, but I don't think he has the perspective.

I would have to disagree with you on Gray. he has done some really good movies, one of them which is the negotiator which I consider to be one of the most underrated films ever made. And also considering the fact that he was one of the front runners for cap 2 meant that marvel saw something in him that we as fans did not see, plus the Straight Outta Compton looks good so I will definitely give him a chance. Plus he has had better movies than hudlin in my opinion
