I think Chiwetel Ejiofor could have played a great T'Challa, but the outcome would have been the same imo. T'Challa was much more "badass" in CW because it wasn't necessarily about him, it was about Captain America. The protagonist has to have flaws and weaknesses because that's all apart of the hero journey. Black Panther is always going to be shown as vulnerable in his own movies because the lens is focused on him.
The one fight that BP loses the entire movie he loses ONLY because he is reeling in moral shock having learned that his beloved Father offed his Uncle and left his Cousin in what is objectively Hell on Earth for Black Folk.

Black Panther has officially passed Frozen to reach #10 on the All-Time WW list.
It also passed Jurassic World for the #4 spot on the all-time domestic list (should pass Titanic for the #3 spot by the end of this weekend).
Currently sits at #35 on the all-time Adjusted for inflation domestic list, having just passed Shrek 2. Should pass Ghostbusters today.

I'd point out that T'Challa no doubt felt a certain deal of empathy for Eric, seeing in him the man T'Challa might have become if he let his anger for the Winter Soldier/Zemo overtake him.

Yeah, I think the solo BP movie works so much better coming after Civil War. It allows the audience and T'Challa himself to potentially see what he potentially could have become after Civil War.

This cannot be overstated, I think many people are missing this type of context to the depiction of T'challa in his starring movie. I would have loved to see T'challa do the superhero landing while thunderclapping the **** outta all challengers but seriously i can't think of any hero that came out of the gate acing everbody on the mental and physical level simultaneously. So, i think events of the plot would have played out the same no matter the actor. All other things being equal his portrayal hit all the right switches.

This is undeniable truth right here. He was engaged in a mental battle against himself before and during the waterfall scene. And he avoided killing blows when they presented themselves.

This movie just makes it a must to celebrate black excellence. The best part for me is being able to tell folks that I was down with the King years before his movie dropped.

Yeah, T'Challa's Civil War character arc directly informs how he reacts to Killmonger.
And in story only takes place after Civil War so he was clearly still in mourning, then he meets a version of himself that had learned
none of the lessons that he had.
So that would have made him feel even worse.

I'm pretty sure I overlooked this fact or it simply was too obvious. They were both still reeling from the loss of their fathers. Killmonger's rage had consumed him the way that T'Challa vowed NOT to be. Wooooow... I swear, the more I think about the different themes running through this movie, the more love I have Coogler and his vision. This man is truly something special. No one else but him was meant to direct thus movie. Simple as that.

This new issue of Rise of The Black Panther makes me want to really see a T'Challa and Doom interact in live action.

Gotta go pick that up now. I've enjoyed the first 3 issues.

Only time Doom and Panther should interact in live action is if T’Challa gets to whoop Dooms ass soundly. None of the white supremacist wankfest that was Doomwar and none of that Pyrrhic victory bs at the end. Doom needs to be humbled.

It mostly refers to the ideology both characters have despite both of them being kings and highly intelligent people but having different motives as well [spoil] T'Challa wants to use his intelligence and resources to help the world, while doom wants to use his to rule the world which creates an interesting dichotomy between both characters[/spoil]

Rise #4
Find a comfortable seat because this is a talking issue. Good news, nothing bad or unexpected. Filler issue to move the story forward.
Got a good tech feat out if it. And a nice heartfelt moment

A very dialogue heavy issue but with a bit of intrigue attached to it imo.
