i am so glad m'baku made it to the movies. his courage to stand for his country /even if he did not agree with the current ruler/, spoke volumes about the character. the chants that his tribe made whenever they appeared gave me shivers.
thank you again for continuing to post this recaps of old stories. after this run ends, what run do you plan to do next?
Well, the immediate plan is to take a break (after the Marvel Premiere issues). I typically read at least a comic a day, but the responsibility to make sure I'm reading and reviewing a comic a day does add a lot of pressure to my routine. But the plan is to read the Black Panther Vol. 2 mini and maybe a few guest appearances (I'm leaning towards Iron Man Annual 5 and Cable 54). I also want to read Panther's Prey to finish out the McGregor trilogy.
I also want to do the same thing with Christopher Priest's run at some point but, realistically, it won't be an issue a day. If I had to guess, it would be a story arc a month or something like that.
read some more of the 1st hudlin tpb today, i am up to issue 16.
whoa, i thought the first 6 issues were good, but the newer ones with luck cage, bro. voodoo, shang chi, blade, and all the rest are out of this world. i simply really enjoyed these stories more than any other modern bp stories i have read /so far/. why did this writer leave? will he ever come back?
the part were luke tells t'challa he should at least take shang's sister on a date, and the no comment look that the artist drew of t'challa had me laughing out loud! good stuff! :)
I'm really glad you're getting a chance on enjoying Reginald Hudlin's BP run.
It's not as dense as Christopher Priest's run and has a pure comic book vibrancy that made for entertain reading across the board.
Your 4th point gets to the heart of what i think the consistent problem is. Why is another character key to the plot resolution? Why is Storm getting any kind of serious development over T'challa? This is HIS damn book!!! Let me see T'challa acsend to Godhood and be redefined while we view him in a different capacity. Let me see where he is vital to final victory in his nation. You get nothing but stink from me if reading Fantastic Four arc Captain America is made the savior.
I think I explained this already but her powerset made her uniquely fit to deal with a threat such as adversary. and this is his exeife, his best friend, and his current lover. why would he not reach out to her?
Black Panther: "This guy has a weakness to metal. I know, let's call in Storm."
Any kindergartener: "None of y'all got a paper clip?"

Honestly calling Storm is a no brainer. At the start of the book, Wakanda had weather related problems. T'CHalla's girlfriend controls the weather. He would almost look stupid for not thinking of asking Storm for assistance.

Oh Sh**t. I just looked that up. He does have a weakness to metal. Tchalla could have scienced this one. Lol. A vibranuium energy cell probably would have done the trick. Hell if Coates was clever, Tchalla would have turned Revibranium Klaw into a weapon against him.
#### this story was dumb.

He's also fought Wolverine and Colossus though, so it's not like metal is his kryptonite. He can be hurt by a metal attack up to a point, but for the most part straight up beating him usually took some sort of plot device.

But then Coates wouldn't have been able to complete his Storm fanfic. Also let's not forget T'Challa could've joined with the Tiger God again and curbstomp Adversary like he did Logos.

yes he does have weakness against metal but that wouldn't be enough to stop him. when colossus attacked him it revealed his true form:

remember as I said a few pages back adversary is a demon (universal threat) who cant be defeated by physical means.

the only way forge could defeat adversary was using a spell that required the xmen soul and resulted in them dying to seal him in a portal. therefore, yes metal can hurt him but it wont ultimately beat him which coates demonstrated when tchalla used vibranium to attack adversary:

coates story actually was almost a mirror retelling of the xmen original encounter with him so trying to criticize him here is well off the mark.
moral of the story, reading the actual story is fundamental to understanding contextually why tchalla could not defeat him, even with scirnce.

exactly. why is this even up for debate lol

the tiger god isnt even a wakandan god. why would he involve himself with what is happening there?

But almost never took a goddess. Hell, before this story, Addy was last defeated by the fact that Doctor Nemesis has a stronger mind than Forge. And Nemesis isn't even psychic... he's just pretentious. :D
So, Rise Of The Black Panther #6.…
I have good news and bad news.
The good news is, Narcisse is a better writer than Coates, and this issue is probably the strongest of the mini. It holds together pretty well, although there's a bit of handwaving, and the ending is soft. I'm sure some of you will like the feats Evan has T'Challa & Shuri pull off.
The bad news is, it's still not a very good story. Taken as a whole, it reads like a laundry list of cameos and Easter Eggs. There was literally no need for Namor, Doom, or Storm (for example) to appear in this tale at all, other than a desire to portray as many BP supporting characters and rogues as possible. In fact, there are 4 characters that probably SHOULD have been in this, but were foisted off with dialogue.
I would have been much happier if the Killmonger plot had taken center stage more, and there were fewer bits designed to appeal to long-term fans (or folks who liek to memorize handbooks & wiki pages :D )
Anyway, I'm not sure I'd follow him to an ongoing. Dude needs more seasoning. But the point is moot, I guess, as TNC has a stranglehold on the main title (Galley Slaves of the Galaxy, and the only spin-off is that Wakanda Forever mini written by Nnedi Okorafor (who I don't particularly care for). So I'm basically done with comics for a while.
Laters, brothers.

Because the Adversary has been in more than one story:
