If Marvel could ever get their animated side on par with DC, they would kill it. And I'm not talking about just the TV shows. DC does a good job of releasing animated movies of some of their best comic stories. I'd love to see a few BP stories get featured in an animated movie.
I'm pretty much meh on DC about everything.
Yeah, Marvel animated films have been lackluster while DC has been dropping BOMBS! Its because DC actually takes time and makes their animated basically for adults. Marvel can also try and not be lazy when it comes to video games. With the success of Arkham series you would have thought they would want to have similar success. I hope the Spider-Man game made by Sony for the PS4 does well so Marvel can MAKE GOOD video games. Video Games is where DC destroys Marvel just like with animated films.
After this film I don't think Black Panther needs an animated movie. But an R rated Blade movie would be VERY good. Also Blue Marvel, Monica and Brother Voodoo NEED to get in animated whether TV shows or movies. Because I feel these three are the next Marvel Black heros to take Black Panther, Storm and Luke Cage spot in B-lister when those three graduate to being A-listers.

I'm only reading Deathstroke and Justice League because of Priest. Deathstroke's been very good and I'm interested in his take on DC's flagship team.
lol! Same for me. Like Priest and DS. But i MAY check out that Batman story of him marrying Catwoman. Seems good. *shrugs*
Thats how you know DC is lazy. How do you have a BLACK Spider-Man and a whole roster of potentially great Black characters and yet drop the ball so bad? Is there a way for Milestone to officially leave DC?
I'll probably leave DC when Milestone actually starts publishing books. They already undid McDuffie merger by establishing earth m. We just haven't seen it yet.

So McDuffie was against Milestone characters having their own universe? What if Milestone moves to Marvel? I mean if Static was integrated into the Marvel U nothing would really change. There have been no stories that set place in Dakota.
But anyways Milestone should become their own Publisher if they have the financial means.
Good point. But like you said Black characters do not work in DC. The Static Shock shows was a BIG HIT, it was basically like Spider-Man and when he interacted with Superman, Batman, Stewart, JL, and other DC characters they liked him. Yet DC not only treats him like a D-lister(thats putting it fair), they keep him in the back of the bus with the other Black characters.
We'll see how the Black Lightening show goes.
I wouldn't say that black heroes don't work in the DC Universe, they have a number of interesting minority characters. But they do struggle in making those characters sell in today's comic book market. I still think that a lot of the good will that Marvel got with the All New All Different banner and their "diversity" push, DC could have gotten with their nu52 minority/female led titles but DC's has such a poor PR dept.
2. The most advanced nation in Africa in DC is a freaking Gorilla country. That should tell you something. So there isn't really any room to do a "Wakanda" in DC unless we do some retcons.
Wow. I never took note of that before............I'm so disgusted with DC.
It's so sad.
And yes, Static is the only other character with the clout and rogues for black folks to get behind. That cartoon had a long reach and cemented him in the minds of many. Again, as long as he's solely in the hands of the Milestone people.

No. DC doesn't have good Black characters period. They have boring powers, origins, clones of the white ones with hand me down mantles, they don't have swagger(like Panther, Storm, Blade, Luke, etc), they're bland and they don't have any cool mythos. It has nothing to do with "not selling in todays market."

Black readers are just NOW finding out about DC. I still like DC but NOT for Black characters. The universe is too Eurocentric. I really do hope Milestone becomes their own Publishing company and GROWS.

I want both for BP. Just like they do with Batman. More product means more exposure means more opportunities means more exposure. And they could actually have some of those characters you mentioned in a BP animated movie. Hudlin used all of them in his stories.
A Doctor Voodoo animated series would be cool. Some Sci-Fi horror stuff. I hope Monica and BM get on an Avengers or some other high-profile team. Too powerful to be left hanging around in limbo

I'm curious which stories would you like to see animated? Maybe "Panther's Rage", "See Wakanda and Die", perhaps "Enemy of the State"?

Panther's rage not so much. The others are good choices along with EOS II, Sturm und Drang and Most Dangerous Man Alive.

The problem is that DC doesn't treat them like they matter. They have no important roles in any stories or events. They're just there. Cyborg has been irrelevant. Vixen has no clout. John Stewart is given a "rank" but it means nothing when no matter what DC won't allow him to do more than Jordan.
Black Lightning should be their big fish, but as you can see, in the comics he receives very little promo. TV actually gives him love though.

Good point. It will only solidify him as an A-lister and Marvel's leading Black character. They can do an animated Black Panther movie on when he became the Black Panther. I swear Black Panther can become like Lion King or Star Wars for Black people. Love or Hate Disney they are freaking smart.

Prefer a Doctor Voodoo Netflix show in New Orleans OR Haiti( :) ) to get him started. I understand BM as he is very new but Monica should have BEEN appeared in animation.
Blue Marvel if promoted can be BIG... Especially for Blacks. May not as big as Black Panther but still BIG. He acts as a BLACK counter to Superman and will empower little kids. This is why I can't stand when people say, "Blue Marvel is too powerful." in the right hands Blue Marvel can be big whether in comics or animation.

We might have to agree to disagree on that one. Black Lightning is good character, Vixen, Amanda Waller, Mr Terrific, John Stewart and yes even Cyborg are all interesting characters that could be used in fascinated ways. Now, I can easily think of examples where those characters have been misused or the comics they were in were bad, but that's not a flaw in the concept of those heroes.
Tyroc is not so great:p

I feel DC could have at least added interesting mythos to those characters like Panther, Storm, Blade, and even Luke. To me their "presence" doesn't stand out. When Black Panther, Storm or Luke enter a room you know *&^% gonna get real whether its big or small. But with Vixen? Mr. Terrific? Not trying to bash these characters.

My personal feeling is that I'm burnt out on events so I don't care if a hero I like plays and important role in some big gimmick crossover. BP was in Age of Ultron and look what good that did him LOL. I will admit that DC totally screwed up nu52 Cyborg. Vixen is getting a push so to speak in other media that will probably reach more eyes than a comic will, but I do wish she had a solo. The new Black Lightning comic is actually really good.
