People love that shit thought. The PROSE!!!!
I was bitching about that stuff as soon as the Tetu Poem issue came out. But people love it I guess.
IDK, I have had some serious misgivings with Coates actual writing, ignoring the plot stuff, as soon as the first "arc" ended but no one jumped on the bandwagon with me so I've been a lonely soul, hunting Bison and Squirrel all by myself, hoping I don't get sick on the Oregon Trail.
I thought maybe I was just being overly critical but its being mentioned here and there at greater frequency than before.
I thought the poem Tetu was reciting was an actual poem, so I kinda like it on it's own but I didn't like how it was used in the context. I really wish Coates will stop coming off as pretentious but I don't see that happening any time soon. I've never read any of his other works aside from this Black Panther series so what I've seen here is just complicated for complicated sake.
T'challa vs Killmonger Round 3 in Over the Edge #6
http://blackpanthermarvel.blogspot.com/2016/10/tchalla-vs-killmonger-round-3.html
This is T'challa's true, 100% victory over the real Killmonger. No saved by a kid, no re-animated corpses.
This issue gets continually ignored by, well, everyone. And hell, it took me ages to find it, after not even realized it existed for years

Plus dat Killmonger fashion sense is on point
Pretty good fight, and a good find as well. Killmonger's outfits in comics have been so over-the-top. This one probably trumps them all, lmao. I like the exchange between him and T'Challa. I like that T'Challa said he had to struggle to earn the trust of his people, which is really true for any good king.
I hope Killmonger will be sporting one of his many hairstyles in the live action movie.
I have a strange feeling he won't. I mean I can't picture MBJ in long hair or dreads. I wonder if he'll try them on though, and if he'll look good in them.
But seriously, with the Black Panther movie having T'Challa, Killmonger, M'Baku/Man-Ape, the Dora Milaje, pretty much all of Wakanda and it's citizens, soldiers and infrastructure, as well as possibly T'Chaka and other Black Panther (in flashbacks), Shuri and the Hatut Zeraze, I'm really looking forward to some high-tech African looks. Marvel Studios for the most part translate the comic book outfits to live media pretty spot on, and with how they handled Black Panther's habit in CA:CW, I'm really confident. I'm also looking forward outfits outside fighting gear, and of course all the action scenes. I'm hoping for some car/foot chases too. I wonder if Coogler has a flair for that, considering that the Russo brothers are inspired by the Bourne films.

NYCC is coming up soon. Stelfreeze, Coates, and Priest will be in attendence this Friday. I wouldn't be surprised if we get an announcement on the third BP book Coates alluded to, similar to how BP: WoW was announced in SDCC.
It's possible that Priest and Hudson were simply unaware this story took place.
But if they were I wouldn't entirely fault them for wanting to passively recon it away. Given it's the defining characteristic if a BP rogue, if the liss ever were to take place it probably should take under the pen of a BP writer in a BP book.
Sort of like how Doom bots or Thanos clones were used to protect those characters cred. I know some suggested it be done with Klaw. BP writers might want to just protect the integrity of the character.
Though again they probably just didn't know about it.
Maybe, But it doesn't matter either way. Priest would be the one to have to pay more attention to it then Hudlin as Hudlin just followed after Priests take, so no need to re retcon.
Doombots are so stupid now its comical that its used as an excuse still.
Klaw should just embrace the loses and actually come back appearing as powerful as the marvel cartoons have shown him, requiring the Avengers to gang up on him and ask for TChalla's help. But he should go on a rampage first beating the avenger's in round 1 (as well as killing freaking gold balls) and then round two he gets taken down with the help from T'Challa

I think you missed that bit of news last week. lol
Some were speculating it could be a "The Crew" book. Others think it may be a Shuri focused book since the sound byte from Coates apparently implied it may be another in-Wakanda story or something. But yea, there's a 3rd one coming.

If the movies are stripping Klaw of arguably his greatest feat as far as killing T'Chaka I do wonder if that isn't an indicator that marvel is somewhat giving up on Klaw. But we'll see. Maybe Coates will down the line play with Klaw a little bit and try and make him more of a threat.
That look on him is pretty baller, I find it funny that it came out in 96 2 years before Priests run and its completely ignored. I mean yes his claim to fame is never being beaten, and while yes he could have still gone on because he hasn't unconcious until he got crushed. but its one of those things like they should of run with it and let T'Challa have that win. Also the pony tail he is sporting, looked odd at first but its kinda cool
I'm fairly certain that Priest knew of the story. It was hand-waved away, IIRC, as Klaw animating Killmonger's body.
Really, Killmonger's 'never been beaten by T'Challa' was only really in effect under Priest

I think Klaw should be in history's dustbin.
He's not a foil, he's a freakin' wackjob and as powerful as he is T'Challa should have his kryptonite within arms length no matter where he is.
Nobody tunes in to see Batman vs. Joe Chill round 3, but people could see Batman vs. Joker for a million times. And for a reason.

I think there was a time I'd be tempted to agree. He came off very much as a Kirby Fantastic Four villain and not a Black Panther villain for much of his history.
However, Sturm und Drang is a highlight of Priest's run to me and I thought they used Klaw quite effectively.
Now I probably wouldn't go with human mercenary retconned Klaw in the future (the BET rendition of Who is the Black Panther was probably my first in-depth intro to the character so I can't totally hate it, but I also think the Joe Chill analogy is more apt under those circumstances). That being said, we have Marvel equivalents: The Burglar (Dennis Carradine) in Spider-Man and the Fixer (Roscoe Sweeney) in Daredevil. Did you had to resort to DC? ;)

I can go either way on it.
As Klaw is T'Challa's arch nemesis with the moat personal conflict between them, I wouldn't at all be bothered with a BP writer trying to rehab him to make him a credible threat to BP.
But for a variety of reasons they match up poorly, and Klaws rep would need a LOT of work.

Replace Killmonger with Princess Zandia. I'm already doing that in my AoM fanfic.

Funny you cite Sturm Und Drang, Priest said he wanted to revamp Klaw into something better but ran into a roadblock in a lack of potential taking into account canon. In that story, Klaw was really just a blunt object, a spoiler in the chess game between leaders
I think the problems is Klaw's too klunky to work as a regular rogue, and doesn't have enough personality either. It's hard to make sympathetic a guy who invades a foreign nation and kills the leader for money.
Only take I can think of is 'White Man's Burden', lol
AS for the Batman comparison, I thought it apt with T'Challa ;)

They actually just need to have him be treated like he is in the marvel cartoons. Avenger's level threat. Someone that can throw down with Thor and hold his own. Have him steal some Shadow Physics Tech to provide protection against Vibranium weapons as well as defeat it to a certain extent. And then he is set. Hell make it a whole event. Klaw is a near cosmic level if allowed to be fully realized and the best way is to use shadow physics. Dobe in a nuanced Way. He uses some villains to be thrown as fodder to allow him to steal some Tech and with it he lays waste on the Avengers teams

Part if the reason Klaw keeps popping up might be that BP doesn't quite have the most established rogues galley in marvel. Despite Klaw loser stigma he might be the most credible of the bunch.
Man Ape unfortunately is a guy in a monkey suit that's mostly used as hired muscle.
Kill monger is kinda cool, and he track record against T'ChalLA makes him unique. But the more he's used the more likely the thing that makes him unique is going to be tossed aside.
And at least Klaw is powerful. A lot of BP rogues can't say that. So it's tempting to use Klaw just for that reason alone.

There are a lot of powerful and credible villains that could become recurring BP villains.
Klaw is washed up. He poses no credible threat and he's a joke right now. As far as Man Ape goes, Kingpin was just a fat guy in a suit before someone made him into something more.

I do think Priest made Man Ape into a pretty cool character. He made me a fan. Unfortunately he's still usually used as muscle. Hopefully that will change as T'Challis stock rises.
