They probably took stuff out so they can put it back in for their super ultimate special championship edition, or whatever it will be called.
Yeah I know a lot of people who said they're just gonna wait for the inevitable special edition with all the DLC and whatnot so they don't have to spend all the money now.
Anyway, I wonder if they plan to have the cape show up in the movie.
Im ok with that as for me the Injustice storyline is a huge turd and has done no favors to the popularity of a lot of characters including those linked to "almighty" Batman
I'm not lol, because as Batman-centric as the 1st Injustice game was (never played the 2nd, bc they killed off John Stewart after not including him in the 1st game, and i've had enough) it was more enjoyable than MvC:I, which was cringe worthy to my eyes and ears. They wanted fighting casuals (like myself) to play the game but they got a rude awakening when they couldn't just superglue some crap together, tease some paywall DLC, and think we'd see it as lemonade instead of urine.
All they cared about was getting some of the casuals but majority of the FGC. At the heart of all of Capcom's fighters are the mechanics with some window dressing. It looks like going by what's been done with Street Fighter V they're playing the long game and aren't really expecting it to blow open doors out the gate, just comparing the DBZ beta and the MVCI demo the DBZ game has a whole lot to work out before next year and the hilarious thing is it played just like MvC2 set to easy mode
I think they thought they could have both. They went out of their way to make an Injustice-style story and boasted that they had a treat for us in that respect. Then there were the rumors of not only being told by Marvel to not include x-men or F4 characters but to also make the Capcom characters be uglier and less powerful than the Marvel ones. Marvel was trying for my pockets but i slapped their wrist way and gave them the Dikembe finger-wag
I think it's the classic function vs fashion argument.
Capes hinder him movement wise. .. but he'said got the scary Batman vibe wearing it. And I know some aren't big fans of the Batmsn comparisons, but visually a long black cloak can be scary. T'challa under Priest really made it work.
But it wasn't a Batman look because it wasn't a long cape but a short one. Honestly when I see the cape I don't think Batman, I actually think Spawn due to how it's designed. Which to me makes it look more intimidating then Batman.
MVC has never been popular in Japan so that's not that big a deal. The UK sales are more worrying though. Capcom mishandled the game badly between the lack of new characters, omitting fan favorites like the X-Men and Doom, and going for an uninspired visual style. I don't know who at Marvel Corporate thought this was gonna go down well.
Maybe so, but it still ugly lol
Japan:
MvC 3 - 22k First week (2011)
MvC:I - 8k First week
SF5 - 44k First Week (2016)
Japanese people were not amused.
That's Starbrand and Nightmask numbers!
I wonder what them American #s will look like... will they be meh-centric like the Brits?
So far DB FighterZ has taken a lot of their hype. It doesn't help that it seems to deliberately have kept in things people liked from the previous games (assists, 3-on-3 fights, cartoony visual style) that Infinite got rid of. There were a lot of bad decisions that went into Infinite, but FighterZ coming in to look like it was courting people turned off by Infinite's changes made it even worse.
Capcom and Marvel basically set up a bunch of challenges for themselves they could have really easily avoided, but didn't for some reason.
A lot of flash and pizazz in that DBZ game. A lot of MvC3 elements but it actually reminded me of when i used to play DBZ Budokai 3 in the dorm rooms

And yea, what's with the Batman stuff?
When i see the cape I think Spawn or Dracula or some demon thing. It's the design of the cape, the top half, that makes it unique and "scary".
Frak Batman!

I don't buy that they purposefully made the Capcom characters ugly and less powerful (EVERYONE looks ugly) but yeah. They seemed to think they had the fighting game on lock but then FighterZ came and stole their thunder, so now that's in question. It's funny to see just how quickly the community turned on Capcom.
I'm just interested to see how T'Challa plays in the game. I could see him fighting similar to Sabretooth in the older games, but with more tech.

Honestly I'm assuming they were somewhat lazy about it and just used Sabretooth or Wolverine with a different skin, since they're all sort of claw themed. But maybe I'm selling Capcom short. We'll see.

Exactly, at no point did I ever think Batman. Always Spawn Given the cape design and his mask. Especially when he made his cape long
I never liked the cape because it doesn't fit well with a character who is so focused on flips and acrobatics. The suit should be sleek as possible, imo.
Although I remember reading past comic books where Batman was running around doing back flips and side flips and all types of flips and all types of acrobatics in his battles with various foes while wearing his cape. If it's not a problem for him (which I've never seen it be), then it shouldn't be a problem for Black Panther...especially in a comic book about a guy running around with powers of any sort.

If it weren't for the fact that it's grandfathered in by this point I'm sure more people would think that's stupid too. Panther's cape is less iconic (didn't it get ditched right before he first joined the Avengers?) so the nostalgia level isn't the same. I can see why it's not used frequently.

There are actually a couple practical reasons for the cape in Batmans case too.
It offers additional protection (bullets and fire) and on a few occasions can be converted into a glider.
He's also stated before that it somewhat hides his body, making it harder for opponents to know where to strike him.
BP's cape, as far as I know, is just a cape. But in theory they could incorporate more tech options with it if they wanted to.

It would be cool if they emphasized something tech based about the cape if it were to show up in the MCU down the line, but otherwise I don't mind it simply being ceremonial or for intimidation, because that concept art with the MCU suit is cool as hell

I will always be pro-cape because it makes T'Challa look regal as heck.
When he's going into battle? sure take it off then, but when he's in king mode? keep it on.
