Obviously none of this dumbshit is going to stick.
It's more so the principle of what it says about Ta-Nehisi as the Jason Whitlock of comics.
T'Challa will be MCU-ized the second Ta-Nehisi walks out the door. And the history of the elves and other crappy looking "indigenous" LOTR creatures will be ignored.
What stuck:
Dagger's
Habit
Kimoyo
Claws
Shuri
Ramonda
Always prepared
Dora's
Seriously though his basic set need's to be established and Priest had that on point. That's what I wish would be figured in already
So basically all the cool **** that non-black folks find boring bc it's not actively about rape or making BP a struggle ruler of a 3rd world afrikan country?
Interesting. In retrospect, even Hickman was more woke

I'm not sure why whoever started that petition had to hamper it with some hyperbolic verbiage and Storm, but it just goes to show what happens when some people can't stick to a coherent narrative.
Based on how Coates has written Storm thus far, I'd wager thst he'd be perfect for her.
I still sign3d it though.

Echoed my thoughts.
Somewhat of a wasted opportunity since, as we saw with Hydra Cap, protesting and petitions does have an influence in this social media era. i.e. Nick Spencer immediately copping pleas to fans that Cap would turn out ok, which then led to the most pussified conclusion to Secret Empire in which Cap was alleviated of all sins and the heroes were groveling at his feet apologizing for ever doubting him. And then Marvel promising to make Cap "heroic again" moving forward.
But to have similar awareness made and catch on to social media, it would need to be a message better crafted (and better focused) than what was in that petition. He should've outsourced it to the HEF crew lol.
I still signed it tho
And that's fair. But for the people who do like it, they're not wrong or lesser fans for enjoying Coates' run.
Did anyone say they were?
Omg! This is real. Granted bad people come in all shapes, sizes, colors and creeds. But showing Wakandan men as rapists is a very real problem. That's very disturbing to me. When the truth is plainly stated a calming silence takes hold.
It's a grave problem that the only positive are that 1.) BP is too mainstream a product now to introduce rape culture (especially in this current climate) or destructive like Columbus in black face that would cause Disney any problems with BP's target audience, which is the same target audience of Black Lives Matter.
And 2.) Ta-Nehisi's run is finite and the next writer will ignore if not recton it away just to have BP full MCU-ized. Goatee beard and all.
All Black Panther fans are very lucky that this filth in the books will be easily ignored by the movies, video games and cartoons. And those who are disappointed for the lack of such inclusion...well if they're lucky maybe rape and misogyny can find it's way to Lego Wakanda in Marvel Superheroes 3. The sick fucks

Popping in to check on all you Wakandans ever since that dude became POTUS.
It does make one wonder how people can be okay with all these racial stereotypes and offensive portrayal of Africa Coates is drawing from. And there are ALOT of offensive stereotypes in here. All of which go against the mythos
I'm not suprised that there are some individuals all too willing to see Wakanda portrayed in a derogatory form.
It speaks more to their inability to envision an Africa unblemished by slavery, colonialism and the exploitation of African natural resources that continues to this very day by the West and (now) China.
That level of insecurity lends to such individuals seeing Coates as being a breath of fresh air just for bringing "reality" to a fictional intellectual concept.
Priest himself didn't think it was very popular. He said his work didn't really catch fire until Hudlins run got people looking.
Some choose to overlook Hudlin's run in favour of praising Priest (as if they actually cared about Priest's run in the first place.) as a subtle way of putting Hudlin's run down on the sly but the proof is in the pudding when you see how much of Hudlin's contributions to the BP mythos have made it into Coogler's BP movie.
Princess Shuri says hi to the Hudlin haters.

I don't think this was because of any petitions though. There's no way that this wasn't the plan all along.

Yeah, Steve was going to get off the hook and become heroic again all along. I don't see why anyone would assume otherwise. They would never completely ruin Steve Rogers. One way or another he would eventually be cleared. Marvel doesn't need petitions to know that long term Captain America shouldn't be Nazi.

Seriously the HEF I'd the place to outsource alot in a way that would be the ultimate benefit to T'Challa and his Mythos
I don't think this was because of any petitions though. There's no way that this wasn't the plan all along.
Nah, Spencer copping pleases was clearly because of the protests. Marvel promising to make Cap heroic again after the petitions was very "coincidental". i.e. No 10 year long deconstruction story like Black Panther on deck.
Oh, lets not forget Bendis and Axel promising a swift "make up" in the form of Riri was clearly because of the protests about the death of a black character (Rhodey).
Now, the pussifeid ending of Secret Empire and the groveling that took place in it?
Put it this way: if a large, racially-charged petition happened with Black Panther and everything ended up being undone/cleaned up once Ta-Nehisi left... you might be saying there's no way that wasn't a part of the plan and xpac would be butting in at the first chance to join our conversation to cosign.
It's better to protest and deal with "oh it was all a part of the master plan *wink*" rhetoric, than not protest and be however many years deep in doodoo b/c "well, nobody was complaining". I'm not one to discourage people from peacefully speaking up nor ignoring the times that Marvel/DC showed they ass and had to back track.
Like when they planned to kill John Stewart and fans found out.
