Yeah, I said the same thing. Wonder what happened to that post. Curious.
Some funny things be happening here, i've noticed.
I bought Marvel Superheroes 2 btw, and a few hours into it there's a great lego Wakanda map. But of all the interactions, there's no rape culture or rape camps present. No bumbling T'Challa who doesn't want to be King either (quite the opposite).
I wonder why the rape camps and rape culture wasn't implemented?
I wonder whether Ta-Nehisi's misogyny depictions will make it's way into the cartoons.
I'd ask Redjack but I know he's not supposed to spoil any details.
So, not in the movies, not in the video games, and we're pending on the disney cartoon. 2 for 3 so far.
Is anybody disappointed by this?

I think what I'm going to do is read this latest issue when i get home while I'm inebriated....

I would accept Daniel Craig before that..
Some choose to overlook Hudlin's run in favour of praising Priest (as if they actually cared about Priest's run in the first place.) as a subtle way of putting Hudlin's run down on the sly but the proof is in the pudding when you see how much of Hudlin's contributions to the BP mythos have made it into Coogler's BP movie.
Princess Shuri says hi to the Hudlin haters.
Really I don't understand why people try to hate on one or the other. Because without one, you can't have the other, they are two sides of the same coin. Without Priest channeling Lee's version of Tchalla we wouldn't have the modernized version we have now. Without Hudlin channeling Kirby's version, we wouldn't have had Tchalla as exposed to the greater MU and shining light on Priest masterful run m. Both versions have aspects from Their respective runs tying into the MCU, both of them had ground breaking runs, and both are equally responsible for the greatest that is going to hit the big screen in 2018. They are literally two peas in a pod
Nah, Spencer copping pleases was clearly because of the protests. Marvel promising to make Cap heroic again after the petitions was very "coincidental". i.e. No 10 year long deconstruction story like Black Panther on deck.
Oh, lets not forget Bendis and Axel promising a swift "make up" in the form of Riri was clearly because of the protests about the death of a black character (Rhodey).
Now, the pussifeid ending of Secret Empire and the groveling that took place in it?
Put it this way: if a large, racially-charged petition happened with Black Panther and everything ended up being undone/cleaned up once Ta-Nehisi left... you might be saying there's no way that wasn't a part of the plan and xpac would be butting in at the first chance to join our conversation to cosign.
It's better to protest and deal with "oh it was all a part of the master plan *wink*" rhetoric, than not protest and be however many years deep in doodoo b/c "well, nobody was complaining". I'm not one to discourage people from peacefully speaking up nor ignoring the times that Marvel/DC showed they ass and had to back track.
Like when they planned to kill John Stewart and fans found out.
Can't be better said..

I'd imagine only those who feel that an advanced African nation that's never been conquered should be taken down a peg or two. Sucks for them but they'll always have Coates' BP issues to keep them warm at night.

Coates is turning Wakanda into a Galactic Empire, so I would imagine anyone with issues of an advanced African nation probably won't be reading his book pretty either.

Yeah, lets not pretend as if Hudlin welcomed Priest fans from the start, eh?
Just ask Muddy Boots.
Priest's series lasted 60 issues in a crap market, with little to no support from Marvel itself, long before movie synergy was even a glimmer in their eye.
So it had supporters. And they were dedicated.

Actually, yes, yes they would. If you don't understand why, re-read Rumble's post that I was responding to a few times.

Well, if Coates can get people wanting an advanced African nation to be taken down to read a story about an advanced African nation forming a galactic empire, all the better.

No they would be too busy burning the book on youtube.

Yeah.. until he goes full Columbus in black face and makes Wakandans invade and colonize to make this galactic empire, filled with slaves, galactic rape camps, poverty, hunger, senseless murder, child alien soldiers, all the while having T'Challa being to "Busy"™ to do anything about it.
He has already ruined the DM, the monarch, and the history of Wakanda, to think he would do right by the empire would be foolish

There was no way that HydraCap was ever meant to be a permanent thing just like Doc Ock as Spiderman, just like Jim Gordon as mecha Batman, just like Superior Iron Man, just like dead Logan, just like JaneThor...anyone who thinks otherwise was just fooling themselves. Keep in mind this isn't the first time Steve was made a Nazi, it's like at least the third just off the top of my head.
I wouldn't discourage anyone from speaking their mind either. If folks want to sign a petition to get a better writer on BP I say go for it. My point was that Marvel was always going to make Steve heroic again. It's just part of the cycle that we see in superhero comics all the time. It really had nothing to do with so called "shit-lords" who start fights with people on twitter trying to "make comics great again".
The questionable writing on BP by Coates is a completely different kettle of fish...

xpac doesn't understand for the same reason he grits his teeth everytime he's reminded that Nakia is T'Challa's Wakandan love interest.
Or that T'Chadwick is the opposite of the black panther he champions.
Fortunately, the rest of us embrace Lupita's character, are open minded to a 007 T'Challa who wants to be king, and don't have any silly notions that it's an either or choice between having a non rapey afro-futuristic nation or some yet to be fleshed out "planet" with wakandan aliens.
Fortunately the Chadwick Bosemans, Ryan Cooglers and Kevin Fiege's of the world "understand" this. Not that it's some hard concept.

Couldn't have said it better myself. This is also why I think the movie not only will make big bank but might even break records.
