I'm wondering that myself. This was quite unexpected. Especially if Klaw does show up.
Really hoping the Avengers or Bucky don't show up on this one, outside of a cameo. The BP supporting cast should be getting the remainder of the screen time, imho.
I doubt they are, they aren't gonna nake another Avengers lite, this is T'Challas movie and they confirmed 90% Black cast, unless there are a ton of characters in here they won't show up except maybe a Cameo
Wow this is a surprise
Wasn't expecting both M'Baku and Kilmonger in the same movie initially, I was actually thinking they might combine characteristics of the two. As long as the offensive moniker "Man- Ape" is NEVER used or uttered I'm intrigued...
Makes me wonder if the MCU is doing away with Klaw as a T'Challa specific nemesis altogether. He hasn't appeared in any medium after Age Of Ultron and his main claim to fame was taken from him by Baron Zemo. You'd think that if a white villain were to pop up (organically) in the Black Panther film it would be Zemo.
Or maybe Kilmonger will be the main villain and M'Baku will be set up for a potential sequel villain
Klaw still has the claim to fame of getting into wakanda, getting vibranium out, and escaping their prison
And that vibranium was used to enhance a murder bot and turn a city inro a meteor
So i doubt hes well liked
Well, they've still got Achebe and White Wolf.
Given that White Wolf is his brother you'd think they would debut him in the first movie though if at all. Having him appear out of thin air (like he frankly did in the comics) in the second would be kinda weird.
-
Did not expect M'Baku at all. As long as they call by his name and ditch the costume. Just have him be leader of the Jabari tribe.
Unless he's just a throwaway character, they need to get him and Killmonger cool, bad ass costumes. With the way they designed BP's suit, which is arguably the best suit in the MCU, they need to get those same creative juices for these two. Erik and M'Baku can easily be the Deathstroke and Sabertooth to BP's Batman/Wolverine (as far as mainstream audiences would be concerned), But they gotta look cool as hell and, for M'Baku, decide how much of a brute they want to make him. i.e. turn that onesie into straight tribal body armor or something visually impressive/threatening.

I think it's more likely they'll just stick with young Shuri. Tho, i guess they could just throw them all in there and reserve some of them to tease plot points for the sequels.
That young man tall as hell

Had to wiki him before I recognized him. Holy crap, Mini!
He was an utterly convincing and intelligent bad ass in Person of Interest. Can't think of a better choice

And altho i don't know his age, he does look young, so I definitely like how they've gone with youth for both Erik and M'Baku. Makes me think they're thinking about those two for the long haul

He's not pretty good, he's excellent.
IMO, Person of Interest is one of the best written series out there, with well developed villains, protagonists and what have you. Mini/Dom's character came in late to the well developed cast, but he more than held his own

White Wolf did just kind of appear, and I know he's a scumbag, but I kind of always wanted him to get down with T'Challa and just be his anti-hero hammer doing things on BP's behalf.
-
He was excellent, the scene where he pretends to just be another thug instead of the bossman was really good. If he just gets and end credit cameo to set up a part 2 I'd be happy with it. I really liked POI for awhile, but the Shah character really got on my nerves the season after the season they killed off Carter.

If there was ever a time White Wolf was needed it's arguably now.

Klaw is also confirmed. So all three main villains in one movie.
I want Hunter in as well helping to defend wakanda
Yeah, Wilson and Coates have been low-key talking about a crossover between Ms. Marvel and Black Panther on Twitter for awhile, so I'm sure this is set up for that.
Why tho? I don't see how that would benefit T'Challa story wise? Ms. Marvel is like 13 years old.

The only way I'd be okay with them using White Wolf is if they ret-con Thor's backstory to give him an adopted black brother named Shango. Until then White Wolf can stay in limbo with all the other unused/forgotten comic book characters.

I swear if Angela basset aint in this movie tho......

100% agree. I never liked White Wolf in the comics and i want him as far away from the MCU as possible.
-
Black Panther the only character where all his best feats take place outside of his Solo Book. Where we have to depend on everyone but the supposedly "Woke Brother" to deliver peak T'Challa with all his intelligence, personality and abilities intact.

Was listening to a recent Coates interview: https://soundcloud.com/comicnoobspodcast/episode54
At 47:39, Coates mentioned that there will be an announcement soon about another BP book to be released.
Three BP books...wow.
-
Never seen an episode of Person of Interest, but it's good to hear good things about Winston Duke and his acting chops. He's certainly got the height and imagine what he'll look like if he bulks up. Hope he kills it as M'Baku. They really, really need to drop the Man-Ape title because I think the name M'Baku is pretty badass on its own. I would like to see an updated suit too, but given how they handled the Black Panther suit, I have confidence. I hope the costumes in this movie are as good, if not better, than the ones in the Doctor Strange movie.
Also if Klaw is also added to this movie as a villian I wonder how they'll juggle them. I'm really hoping we don't get one-offs. I want to trust Coogler and Feige on that.
And Marvel better cast Angela Basset as Ramonda ASAP.

Dear God... It will not end!

What do you guys hope the third book will be about?
I want it to be about past black panthers and their struggles.
This could be their chance to flesh out a female Panther.

No idea what it could be about. A previous panthers story would be cool, although I'm not sure how much it would sell.
Three BP books though. To think not long ago we were stuck with only New Avengers for BP content.

Shuri is the obvious choice for a third

That's what high BP sales leads to ... it leads to more BP.
As far as what the book might be ... Black Panther and the Crew would be pretty cool. Coates is essentially teasing that idea now.
Shura is another possibility. He's doing a lot with her now. Maybe the second book will be about her running Wakanda while the main BP book focus on T'Calla off doing super hero stuff.

Kamala comes to Wakanda to see her friend, super hero activities break out, MM and BP team up to stop it. MM earns BP's respect, BP drops superhero vet knowledge, the end
typical superhero team up stuff.

This is kind of bizarre.
Comic killmonger and M'baku don't mesh.
Killmonger and Klaw have teamed up once before, but Killmonger hates him in the comic universe.
So this is a bizarre trio of villains to have int he movie without a lot of re-imagining.
Killmonger doesn't really NEED a henchmen to fight T'challa... he does it himself.
So... idk. I am fine with movie re-imagining but... odd trio. Unless one of them is being written as part of T'challa's inner circle who could betray him the next movie,...
*shrug*

Kamala is a great character to play off T'Challa. It could be a lot of fun, which is something Coates book could use a bit more of.

Again just speculating but it's possible Wakanda could be housing several Avengers at the moment. If that's the case (and it might not be) multiple super villains could be necessary to level the playing field. If even Cap and Bucky are still around they might want their own dance partners.
-

You could argue the same about Priests version of M'Baku. They both have different visions of Wajanda. Funnily enough theirs just happen to be diametrically opposing views. They're almost more likely to fight each other than T'Challa if they were ever to meet.
-
Shuri is the obvious choice for a third
It's either that or a "Crew" book, like Xpac mentioned. I'm not sure what other direction they would go that would make sense business wise.
The previous Panthers, for example, can be focused on a future BP: WoW arc, rather than a different book.

Black Panther: The Crew
Announced shortly (and coincidentally) after that highly anticipated netflix series about that one guy with the unique epidermis condition who befriends this handicap chick with an appendage operation. Which is also around the time the team debuts in the solo book... which will do massive numbers.
It's the most obvious, shameless money grab route to take (50k+ a month) and allows Coates to play in the mainstream marvel sandbox when he and Gay aren't in their Wakandan one.
Either that, or "Shuri: Leader of the Wakandan Amazons" (working title)

Cap wont' be in the movie unless his contract is massively redone. He is at 5 movies now of a 6 movie deal (Thor2 didn't count towards his contract)

A crew book with that roster would shatter The CompleX though...
and IDK if I really want Storm and Panther glaring at each other month after month
Cage and T'challa buddy time though would be legit
Would be weird AF for T'challa to be on a Thanos beating team and a street level- esque team (depending on how Storm is written) at the same time lol
Why can't the man just get on an Avengers team for crying out loud. Screw the "crew" name... Put him on Avengers with Sam, Luke, T'challa, real Thor, Peter, and Shulk and call it a day please

I'm not sure how street level a book with Storm in it would be.
But assuming that's the case, I suppose T'Calla being on the Ultimates at the same time isn't that different than Batman in the JKA. On Tuesday the guy is stopping bank robberies in Gotham and on Thursday he's in Apocalips fighting Darkseid. That's what Bats week can look like.

I'm mean, it's 2016. I'm pretty sure BP can download microsoft outlook on his kimoyo card to keep track of all pending meeting obligations, install the skype or tango app for any that require face time, and cc Uber-Manifold for meetings stacked back to back.
Bp got this.
-
Quick question everyone: by becoming the BP in vol. 5, was Shuri the first black female superhero in comics to have her own solo?
I'm pretty confident she's the first in Marvel to do so, but I'm not sure about DC. Vixen may have had one, I think.
EDIT: Vixen had a five issue limited series a year before BP vol. 5, #7 came out. I guess that counts?

Sorta, kinda?
In his early appearances, Killmonger worked with characters like Sombre, Madam Slay, Malice and King Cadaver.
So they are just using the bigger Panther villains to work with KM, instead of those guys.

I skipped ahead to that part of the interview, It kinda sounds like its going to be based around Wakanda still in their own area, I dont know if it would be a crew book unless for some reason Luke, Misty, and Storm have a reason to have an extended stay in Wakanda
