I'm sure you'll be oiling the wheels of that forward momentum with your scintillating witticisms.
I do agree with that. We've obviously hit a wall where opinions aren't going to change.
To me, it was never really about changing opinions in the first place.
It was more about seeking clarity as to why Coates introduction of rape camps, rampant misogyny, manufactured gender inequality and the Third worldification of Wakanda was preferable to the afro-futuristic aesthetic cultivated by Lee, Kirby, Priest, John's, Hudlin, Liss and Hickman?
Peace.
Which Coates completely failed to Even have him attempt. He never Once have a speech to the people of Wakanda (which would of been more meaningful then have Coat- Changamire have the speech for him while also low-key shade throwing, could of resolved the issues with the DM that way too, but he never even was shown using any type o logic or pre planning. Coates literally had Tchalla acting like a boy king who doesn't know what the fuck he is doing and is just reacting (poorly) to everything around him and needing his hand held to get anything done
I agree with this. The problem for me personally has less to do with whatever social issues that Coates brought into the comic, but more that Coates had the hero of the title acting like Mopey McJoe instead of dealing with those issues.

Ultimately, this is what i am wondering to. What is the appeal of this defeated Panther? People say he is "relatable" and "Humanized" and then get angry when he does stuff like armbar SS, yet DD kicks him off his board and there is no complaint, or DD beats Ultron with Sticks, and theres no complaint. But the minute T'Challa does something other heroes do hes called a Mary Sue. But this version of Panther, who needs help for everything almost to the point where its a stealth team book in his solo, is appealing to people.. I dont get it

Honestly, most of S1 could of stayed the same had Coates actually had T'Challa handling issues instead of appearing to not care, and making the MA come off as sympathetic rather then, as he said "Police officers using excessive force" as they were supposed to. Also while making Tetu and co actual Legitimate threats with real stakes and scale to back it up. Because right now Wakanda just looks weak AF to have struggled against such a weak force.

The whole of Coates approach to writing T'Challa, Wakanda and the BP mythos is predicated upon the premise of the stereotypical notion that Africans are incapable of innovation, social cohesion, political stability or creative innovation independent of outside influence.
Once one becomes aware of this, it becomes easier to understand why Coatesverse BP is so underwhelming and to be quite frank, insulting in its entirety.
It doesn't get simpler than that.

Oh i understand Coateverse is extremely underwhelming and insulting, however, WHY are people drawn to this defeated panther.
With things like the Wakandan rape camps, T'Challa being a secondary character in his own series, and the "extra" in the book, I was like....
.....
I just couldn't get with some of those things.

I honeestly don't care about anyone drawn to this milquetoast iteration of T'Challa.

This is for you Maj and if I didn't know who this youtube guy really is-I would have thought you did this.
To sum it up the guy was talking about getting black writers who actually care about the character (he also bought up Cyborg) and holding the editors accountable for it.
And get folks who are serious about diversity instead of having t be reminded that you have diverse characters around and stop trying to get brownie points.

Coates has a new project with Coolger & Jordan.
Director Ryan Coogler and actor Michael B. Jordan will reunite once again for an adaptation of a 2014 essay in The New Yorker titled "Wrong Answer," written by Rachel Aviv, which explores an adult standardized test cheating scandal at Atlanta Public Schools through the lens of one middle school.
If Coogler reteaming with Jordan wasn't thrilling enough, Ta-Nehisi Coates is attached to write the screenplay based on Aviv's article.
In addition, Brad Pitt's Plan B (producer on Barry Jenkins' "Moonlight," as well as "Selma," "12 Years a Slave" and more) will produce "Wrong Answer" with Coogler, Dede Gardner and Jeremy Keliner. New Regency will also produce and fully finance the picture.
I'm so hyped for BP's movie. I still can't believe I haven't finished reading Priest's run yet though.

He's probably going to be a part of the new Avengers team that comes out of Infinity War.
