BP WOW and BP Crew aren't good examples though because those were shit books. But I get what your saying. Folks say that showing Characters down their throats garbage and when Marvel tries new ideas folks don't buy them anyways. They are more so just saying they want their comics let alone so they don't have to see it. They don't care about diversity unless it is in the books they like reading, then it's a problem all of a sudden
I wouldn't day it's that. I have heard folks say all they want to do is WALK into a store and see the same folks that they grew up seeing in the stores when they were kids.
It's not that I want to BUY a Bruce Banner Hulk book but want to see HIM versus Cho on the cover. Never mind how well Cho does in trades along with Bruce's trades.
What good is tossing Black Panther WOW when that sucker in trades was outselling a lot of books on Amazon? Motor Crush at Image was a book no store wanted to sell and LOL she was the top trade seller in June and still does well on amazon.
Actually less than him. T'Challa's book has been a lot more consistent than Diana's.
Between the book having runs that were average to outright bad since the 2010s and the mixed reception to the movie, I doubt being on the Justice League is doing her any good.
I have never seen a Justice League run pack dollar and quarter bins than Justice League since McDuffie's removal.
Talk about a book that you don't need to rush to buy-wait till it hits bins-you can the entire run for under $20 at some places here.
Ideally T'Challa should be married with children by now.
Comics-wise, that won't happen. They'd more than likely have some adult child from the future arrive and claim that T'Challa is their father.
You think Wakandans would have the option to take the parents DNA and create a child in a lab and accelerate the age to say four or five? And matrix like auto load them with a starter deck of language and basic math skills?

So essentially they’ll be like the DCEU kryptonians?

Not as a societally norm, just an option.

They'd have the option if writers wanted them too. That said I'didn't be 99% convinced you'd end up with a new super villain more than an heir.

Considering she has like 300+ more issues then Tchalla, I find that hard to believe.
With Priest writing JL I also find d that hard to believe either. On comics side. Mcu Panther is a different beast all together and he is flying high for sure

That's basically what I was saying, they want to see the characters they grew up with, if diversity is in other books that aren't the ones they read z they are good. But once cap or ironman or Thor are effected it's she this and she that, and why hate straight white males and they are doing diversity wrong and DC does it right.. it's all bs

People keep asking what counter DC has to Black Panther. They have NONE. The thing people have got to understand is that Black Panther(and his mythos) is a unique to Black character in GENERAL. Its not just the character that people like but his MYTHOS. The entirety of that. This is why Panther fans are so angry at Coates because he is DESTROYING that mythos that Black comic book readers like myself enjoy so much.
Wakanda is a richest and most advanced nation on Earth and its African. That RINGS BELLS to not just Black comic book readers but black people in DC. DC has no answer to that. No big black fictional character in general really does. Black Panther doesn't just represent "black excellence" but the idea of what we as Black people can become. of what African can become with its rich resources.
John Stewart is NOT an answer to that. And Cyborg? Don't make me laugh. Not trying to be cocky but just expressing why Black readers love him and his mythos so much. But its worse because DC can NOt create that mythos because the setting in DC is VERY Eurocentric(I'll elaborate later) which is why I agree with that poster who says minority characters don't work in DC. Its true.
In order to counter Black Panther you have to create a better mythos than Black Panther and that ^%*@ takes TIME and can not be rushed. And again(sounding like a broken record), the DC setting is very Eurocentric.

Hmmm.... maybe that's how the Wakandan Space Empire got built and developed so quickly. That would be an option.

That's basically it in a nutshell. DC has not invested a whole lot in the Black/Minority heroes over the past few decades. Marvel will give solo shots to their Black/Minority heroes, more than DC has, despite some of the lame attempts we've seen. I will give them credit for that.
There is no Black hero in DC like Panther and they really shouldn't try to find/make a comparison.
They could have made John Stewart into an A-list character but don't have the guts to pull the trigger.
They won't use Cyborg to his full potential and continue to use the same old "am I man or machine" trope. People are tired of that.

Not more realer than the gems you been dropping in this thread. But yeah Priest(giving him the credit) basically created the Black hero that BLACKS wanted and he made it come out ORGANIC and not artificial like Cyborg and other DC characters(who basically use other peoples mantle at that too. John Stewart)? Hudlin however made the Black Panther more popular to Black readers(he DESERVES that). And now its US Black reader going ham and further making Black Panther popular to finally make him an A-lister to sit next to Spider-Man, Hulk, Wolverine, Iron-Man and Captain America.
I would say Spawn maybe comes next after Black Panther in what Black readers LOVE. Storm(whether us Panther fans like her or NOT) comes third because like it or not she is the most perfectly made organic Black FEMALE hero(which is hard) and she represents the idea of what BLACK WOMEN want.. A beautiful black "goddess." That is why Storm fans go ham for her. DC doesn't even have a Storm let alone a Black Panther or Spawn.

I think Static would be second for people in my age group of 30 ish. Because of the cartoon, I knew who he was before anyone else.
DC does get partial credit for Milestone. And it is suppose to be back next year.
