that website went downhill years ago. I think it changed ownership, but the way they changed the wiki section and started insta locking threads if a mod felt like it, without any rationale killed off the board real quick. Now its just casual spam.
I don't know which of the old guard comic boards are left besides CBR. KMC still might be around, I think superherohype is gone.
Saw the movie again this past weekend. Still quite a few people in the theater for a 10am show in the 'burbs. Avengers Infinity may or may not sell more tickets, but what BP has done is nothing short of miraculous. It certainly drew in a ton of non-comicbook fans.

There's so much to appreciate about the movie. But subsequent viewings only drive home the point that some people could not be more wrong about T'Challa taking a backseat to his supporting cast. I mentioned before how his cast and the narrative all seamlessly revolve around him. It's so apparent. People mistake the rays of his blinding sunlight for their misfortune of not truly seeing him.

Even if Avengers Infinity sells more then Black Panther it does not make it more impressive then Black Panther. Black panther is a solo film. Avengers IW has everyone in it. It's unfair to compare a team up film to a solo film. No one compares Antman or Doctor strange to Avengers, don't do it with Black panther.

Yeah. Even if Avengers Infinity War sells more, it's almost not fair to compare an Avengers movie to any solo since the Avengers movie basically has everyone. So if BP can even come close to what Avengers ends up doing (or exceeds it), them it accomplished something pretty darn amazing.

Infinity War is also rumored to cost 500 million to make.
Black Panther made so much money that it isn't even fair to compare it to any other solo movie other than Iron Man 3... which had the advantage of Avengers hype + being the last of a trilogy.
Cap 3 made a billion only because it was Avengers-lite. Cap 2 was one of the best comic book movies ever and didn't even crack 750.
I am hoping that BP can climb past Deathly Hallows two (1.341 billion) so it can remain in the top ten all time after IW and Avengers 4.

People keep tryna come up with excuses for why BP outgrossed their favorite movie, and it's really sad.
I'm not watching any IW footage after the second trailer, but that gif of Panther leading the charge was nice to see.
As far as Box office goes, Black Panther made an estimated 8.43m domestically this weekend (actual numbers will be out later today), passing Titanic on the all-time domestic list. Overseas it made an estimated 4.5m, bringing it's estimated worldwide total to $1,299,855,740. We'll see if the actual numbers kick it up above $1.3b. Either way, it will definitely have crossed that mark by the end of today.
In day-to-day comparisons, BP is still beating TFA, Avengers, and JW each day domestically. I bring this up, because at this point in their release, Jurassic World had $20.6m left in its run, Avengers had $24.9m, and TFA had $30.6m. If BP follows JW, it gets to $686m domestically, Avengers would get it to $690.3m domestically, and TFA gets it to $696m domestically. All three numbers would put it above The Dark Knight on the all-time adjusted for inflation list. Beating TFA puts it really close to The Avengers.
All-Time Domestic Earners (adjusted for inflation)
29. The Avengers - $705,769,500
30. Thunderball - $686,664,000
31. The Dark Knight - $683,575,000
32. The Jungle Book (1967) - $676,381,600
33. Sleeping Beauty (1959) - $667,166,200
34. Black Panther - $665,355,740
Such domestic potential also puts Black Panther in striking range of both the #9 and #8 spots on the All-Time Worldwide List, even with minimal help from overseas #s.
7. Avengers: Age of Ultron - $1,405,403,694
8. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows Part 2 - $1,341,511,219
9. The Last Jedi - $1,332,632,945
10. Black Panther - $1,299,855,740

Well, I agree there. It's not the composition, but the content that makes a movie great. Still, it's worth acknowledging that Avengers Infinity War is projected to be another extremely successful cash bonanza for Marvel. If it happens, it's worth commending. I remember the days when you couldn't get a superhero movie made, unless it was about Superman. (Yes, I'm dating myself here.)

It's possible. It's at ~1.3 bill currently. It just needs to make 42 mil. It just got out of week 8 as well so there will likely still be about 10-12 more weeks that it's in theater's. Assuming that it stays in theater's for the same time that other movies were allowed. I also think the final week before IW drops it might help boost sales considering that it's the last movie before IW, the newest tv spot has the badass chant, and there are those who like to binge watch the marvel movies up to a new release.. I think it will do it

My hope is that BP remains in theaters through the Infinity War release. I suspect there are moviegoers who didn't see BP for whatever reason. Given a good showing by T'Challa in Avengers IW, those moviegoers are likely to rethink that decision and go back to catch the BP movie.

In my mind the themes were the main characters. All of the cast played second chair to the environments, circumstances and conflicts into which they were birthed.

Somebody call an exorcist. Lol
At least they were nice enough not to put black panther name on the cover.
