So if your girlfriend was not returning your calls for a few days and you then went out with another girl and sent her a picture of it. It is just all innocent right? Just working around the continuity.
I think so. T'Challa needs information and he can't get it form Bast, so he's getting it from another god. He states on the page that he's petitioning the aid of a god without betraying his own. Maybe Bast will have a problem with it, but T'Challa at least considers what he's doing innocent enough.
Again, why is it a shot that he's communicating with other gods? He's got stuff to do and this is a way to do it. The fact that he's acknowledging Coates continuity if anything is a sign of professionalism, rather than taking petty shots for whatever reason. This is what writers SHOULD do when they're sharing characters.

Yes has done this multiple times in 616. She actually rearranges the unstable molecules in her clothes to change her attire. I have only recalled her doing this once without any clothes.

Where is Ramonda? Why had she Been gone an pretty Much Been non-existent since Coates blew her io in favor of bringing in more of his shitty pet Characters?
That the point I'm making. This isn't a true Bp Solo. It's a stealth group/spin off book with a bias feminist agenda
Fair enough. I thought you were echoing what one poster had said in that this was a Storm book. And I again won't argue you against your points about the motives purposes/objectives of his title. I doubt the dude cares like that seriously.
The dude is clearly referencing his own continuity yet again.
Because Ewing is always either riffing on stuff he already wrote somewhere else or on obscure 70's characters that
have virtually no followings.
Which is why Message Board peeps love him and his sales are crap.

Because its funny. I(Coates) go through all the trouble of writing an expositional arc about man and gods and this guy(Ewing) makes it unimportant. Since this is part of SE Im guessing it is power to fight Hydra. Because if Tchalla gets and keeps the tigers power. Bast is no longer necessary. Tear down the panther totems and put up the tigers. lol

I think that's twisting what Ewing was doing here.
I think the point is that T'Challa has potential resources outside of Bast (it would be more insulting to the BP book and franchise to imply that he doesn't), not that Bast and his gods are unimportant to the Wakandan people. Because of Basts history with Wakanda and the Black Panthers, they still likely are very important to T'Challa and his people. But strictly speaking, he doens't NEED them... he can get stuff done without them. He's proven that time and time again even when Bast wasn't in exile (or whever Bast is).
I think you're making a mountain out of the mole hill Ewing built when he had T'Challa communicating with a god other than Bast.

X-Men are the quick change artists of the MU. Between Image inducers and Storms ability to do something something with unstable molecules, they can suit up without nearby phone booths.
Though I think Storm once did it naked... not sure how she pulled that one off.

Fair enough. If Ewing ends up having T'Challa abandon being the Black Panther and becoming the White Tiger, I'll concede that it's definately throwing a pretty big curve ball not only at Coates BP book, but to Cooglers Black Panther movie and marvel in general. If things actually go that far, that is sort of a big deal.
I just see this amounting to pretty much nothing, but I could be wrong. We'll see.

None taken. I get what you are saying but blaming the lack of Tchalla and him doing noteworthy things in his book is not the result of Storm being there. If anything, Coates having her there was in reference to their relationship that they once had and did not relate much to what was happening in Wakanda. In regards to the AvX fight that Jason Aaron wrote where Tchalla used nanites to reduce her storm to nothing but a light wind was absolute and utter trash and it demonstrated how poorly Aaron understand Storm's powers. Not trying to turn this to a Storm appreciation but just quickly, Storm manipulates energy patterns that result in weather manipulation. This is why you see her being able to affect phenomenon not directly related to weather such as the earth's electromagnetic field or solar radiation from the sun or even the electrical synapses in someone's brain. Aaron believes Storm needs "weather" to use her powers, which is simply false. Anywhere there is energy that she can perceive with her energy sight, she should be able to manipulate. So in short that little stint with the nanites was PIS. That in no way should have prevented her from flash freezing him, manipulating the air pressure around him, blowing him with wind, or even simply creating a bio-electric bolt from her body. Hell, she should have theoretically been able to short out the nanites in all honesty. So if you gonna call foul where it relates to Tchalla being written poorly, that fight was an instance where she was written horribly wrong in terms of her power and how it functions.

1.) Again, I don't think anything you are saying is unfair, with the exception of situations outside his powerset. What I mean by this is when for instance when Shuri called upon the dead in battle I agree why have her do this when Tchalla can do it. From that perspective, your point makes a lot of sense. However, in regards to handling tornadoes and sporadic storms he doesn't have the ability within his powerset to challenge this. In that instance, I don't see the problem with him reaching out to a character like Storm for help.
2.) How Jason Aaroon, described her being depowered was simply not acceptable. Tchalla, during Doomwar, had a power dampening room which prevented Storm (or any mutant) from using their powers if contained within it. In this case (even though I don't think a power dampener should be able to severe her communion with nature) how she was depowered is acceptable. But for Aaron to put in place nanites that stripped away the heat from the storm which then made her powerless was poor writing. The reason it is poor writing is because he has a fundamental misunderstanding on how her powers work. She could be in the vacuum of space and her powers would still be functional as shown by McDuffie when she and Tchalla were with the FF4. I don't mind him having technology but in that example the tech explanation resulted in Storm being lowballed. Tchalla was propped up at the expense of years and years of continuity to make the playing field even. If the opposite were true BP fans would be in arms. I think your frustrations is that he hasn't done anything at all. So to have Storm come in and do something instead of him is even more frustrating. I get where you are coming from and can't argue against that. But it is 16 issues in and the threat is related to weather which is her specialty. I think in this case you should be a little more forgiving because the previous encounters she did nothing.

I don't see Coates rebuilding T'Challas supporting cast by bring back characters like Storm ot Queen Divine Justice or Kasper as lazy. Ignoring them would be the lazy thing. I think the supporting cast has been killed off or relegated to limbo, and an effort is being made to return them to the prominence now that the franchise is getting some spotlight.
Unlike some heroes, his support aren't a bunch of Jimmy Olesons. They can (and arguably should ) contribute. And that's especially true for Storm in this situation. Of he'said dating Storm and Wakanda is having weather related problems of course he's going to think of asking Storm for help. The more obvious question would be why wouldn't he?
I am not understanding this post.
Hey Maj! I'm not sure which part you are talking about so I will try to break this down as best I can first with how Storm's powers work in continuity.
Storm is not simply just a weather manipulator. This is actually one of the biggest misconceptions of her power. She is actually an energy manipulator which manifests itself in the form of different weather phenomenon:

Her powers and how they function were further explained by Claremont when he detailed that she sees the world around her in forms of energy that she can manipulate. This energy ranges from the "flow of electrons leading to a burst of lightning to the glittering cataracts of the nervous system."

So as long as there is some form of energy that she can perceive via her energy sight she can manipulate that energy. That ranges from thermal, electrical, electro-magnetic, radiation, etc. all of which she has manipulated in some form of another since she was introduced as a character back in the 70s.
Writers like Jason Aaron (who wrote the dreadful AvX battle between Storm and BP); however, believe that she needs "weather" to use her powers. When she visited Hell for instance, Aaron had her unable to use her powers there because there was "no weather".

This doesn't make any sense considering Iceman/Firestar's powers worked normally in hell and they were able to breathe. She should at the very least be able to affect the air or thermal energies that both Iceman/Firestar require to use their powers. So moving along to what he wrote in AvX, he applied the same thought process with their battle. He had nanites essentially eat away at the "fuel" required for that storm that was generated. Even if you let that slide (which it shouldn't), what stopped her from manipulating the air pressure in his ears like she did during Xmen World Apart? What is stopping her from flashing freezing him or generating a wind that can keep him grounded much like she did against Johnny Storm during CoC? What is stopping her from flash freezing his body immobilizing him using the moisture that is within the air, or what is stopping her from electrostatically charging the air around him to gently KO him? The nanites in that encounter was used as a plot device to allow them to fight H2H and to "even" the playing field and it was done so utilizing logic that totally contradicts how her powers work in 616 continuity. It was a complete and utter lowballing moment for the character. I would blame it on PIS (which i was wrong to do so initially) it actually is WIS because he used a similar approach to her powers not working much later when he wrote her in hell. I hope this explains whatever wasn't explained as well in my previous post (^_^).

He didn't bring back Kasper and if QDJ didn't have ties to the Doras he wouldn't have bothered with her either
Still doesn't explain why T'Challa is a third class citizen in his own comic or why characters directly tied to him are passed over for a character that belongs to another franchise and his mouthpieces

There's a reason Hudlin thought nothing of offing half of T'Challa's supporting cast and it's the same reason Mayberry wiped out the other half.
T'Challa's supporting cast ain't all that great, tbh.
Ross and Monica Lynn are probably the best of the lot since they actually are archetypal trouble magnets that drive stories forward. But they are civvies so
Wednesday warriors don't care about any of them (with the notable exception of Mary Jane).
So yanking known costumed characters from other books to populate the book isn't lazy, its revamp 101. Bendis does that stuff all the time and nobody makes a peep about it( see Luke Cage showing up in damn near everything Bendis writes).
So Storm can serve a narrative purpose here and has name recognition that Monica Lynn or Photon don't have.
That has nothing to do with peeps wanting Storm to lead the Xmen some more after 5 years of leading it in 5 books at the same time or why
Storm leading the Xmen yet again even should be a thing at this point. Coates doesn't write the Xbooks (yet) and can't control how she is used there.
Seriously, Storm's been the leader of at least one Xteam and usually several at once since Schism. Let Kitty get her turn already, it's only 15 years overdue.
If this book is going to be Wakanda based (and if it were up to me it wouldn't be) the book is gonna is going to need credible internal conflict
and an ensemble cast beyond a group of proud, noble, non-power having redshirts.
So I'm fine with all this.
Given Storm is T'Challas ex wife, who he is currently dating again, I think you can credibly argue she is as tied to T'Challa as almost anyone. The fact that she is well equipped to deal with the situation probably helps justify using her too.
I'm not a mind reader, so I can't say for certain whether or not he would Queen Divine Justice or not if she wasn't connected to the Doras. But she is a supporting cast member that he has brought of limbo, and I believe that's what needs to happen. Too many of the Priests characters in particular have need neglected by BP writers for decades. Hell, we're even seeing ones from tell Hunt being brought in, and how many people even actually read that?
Its awkward and frustrating when entering the black panther thread and the dicussion is all about his lois lane and jimmy olsen. I... never thought about but much but... Storm is a distraction to the black panther mythos.
Its parasitic the people who are fans of T'challa first
Sigh... Storm is nobody Lois Lane. She was very much established and doing her thing well before THEY became a thing.
And she is only a distraction for those who can't move beyond what happened in the past. Coates seemingly is trying to fix that. I don't see anything wrong with that.
Furthermore, there are posters who are fans of both the characters. Like it or not they are both very much tied to each others mythos. As such, those fans will continue to express said support when appropriate.
Storm has been featured in maybe two or three issues out of 16 thus far. How does this then become a Storm book?
Goodness this "Fake Comicbook News" is too much this early in the morning.
Then tell the writer to do his JOB.
His job is to sell Black Panther not Midnight Angels nor Misty nor Storm.
Yet the number one complaint everyone has is why is this book not about him? Even folks who hate him are asking that.
When this would not be allowed to happen to Batman-he can't even have Duke Thomas make a one page cameo without folks raising heck.
If Cotes want to split the book-go for it or 4 page backups go for it. But lets not forget the job he was hired to do.
If he wants a Storm book-pitch one and be ready to get the same bashing Bendis and Moon Girl's writer gets. If he is that talented make that book so good that it sells and forces Marvel to fight harder to get her film rights back. Since Fox is doing nothing with her.
DO a good enough book with Midnight Angels or Storm that does what Motor Crush-a book a lot of stores REFUSED to sell because it was about a black lesbian-did last month-a top seller who beat every Rebirth & Marvel trade.
But don't do it at the expense of Black Panther's book-we got a movie coming. With this being the most recent run-you sell an incompetent BP-you wasted a shot to get more readers into comics or at least trades.

Its parasitic... in some way the people who are fans of T'challa first and primarilly end up sharing his appreciation thread with fans who are primary fans of Storm... I guess cause it is their hope or observation that she gets better treatment in Black Panther than she does in the X-Men.
However it seems like that's a bad deal for tchalla if his role with her is more gynocentric simp behavior than supes and lois.
He needs a need a new Goddess or the avatar of several chosen ones or sonething.

And those guys had powers.
You would think they are supposed to matter more, by definition.

I will ask you the same thing I have asked everyone else who has been doing this "fake comicbook news": at what point before issue 16 did Storm do anything noteworthy that took the spotlight away from Tchalla and help correct the troubles of Wakanda?
Again, I see people are frustrated because he isn't doing much in his solo; however, that is not Storm or Misty's fault. If anything it is a result of him trying to give meat to supporting characters within his book. Whether you agree with that approach or not is one thing, but to blame it Storm is not true. It's simply a false narrative. I have been following this run of BP and she hasn't done anything really of consequence up to this point.

Unfortunately, for those who don't want to see Storm (who is not his LOIS LANE BY ANY STRETCH of the standard) in his thread she is featured right now in the BP book. After this next issue, I don't believe she will be making much if any further appearances. That said, Storm is very much a part of the BP mythos whether his fans want to accept that or not. I am definitely a fan of Storm first and foremost but I love them together. So any attempt to repair their relationship I stand behind it 110%. To expect fans of her character (when she is featured) not to express joy and happiness when she is done correctly is simply not based in reality. That said, I understand his fans wanting him to be treated better but again her being a part of this book is not the reason he isn't doing what you all are calling for him to do. Storm hasn't done anything in this run of bp so again, I don't see how that is a distraction other than people just not wanting her there to begin with.
