You can disagree all you want, but I saw a ton of excitement from Coates in the build up - particularly during the map making stuff.
Oh yeah I saw excitement too.. none of that was directed at elevating Tchalla at all. Thats the difference between them and Coates. The interview shows clearly they care about Tchalla the character
Not what agenda they can use his mythos as a mouth piece for. He does seem to get some sort of enjoyment out of stereotypical Africa and deflated Tchalla so... Good for him?
FF yes but he has zero ties to the X-Men even after funding them the X-Writers couldn’t even make him a honorary one over crapping on him. Next you’ll say Sleepwalker has strong ties to the X-Men
Given Storm is T'Challas present love interest, creating ties between him and the X-Men is simple enough. Simply have Storm show up in his movie, even as a flash back and they can have a team up down the line.
It's a shared universe, and having characters show up in each others movies is a big part of the appeal. T'Challas connection with Storm is an obvious option.

It was a "shared universe" when some cited Storm and T'Challa hailing from "different franchises" as justification for "problems" acknowleding/depicting their marriage on the part of the X-Office.
I wasn't aware of any changes in terms of an alleged "schism" (on your part) between said franchises.
But according to some, Coates is doing a "stellar" job.
If you mean with Storm- yes.
If you mean with Black Panther himself-NO.
If you mean with black characters-NO. Showering a black character in trope and getting praise for it (because you got too many thirsty folks) and sales-gets you in many cases the same mess in other black lead books.
I actually have no issues with BP and Storm being together. Storm under the right pen can be a beast for T'Challa and the perfect duo. The thing is writers make the coupling a match made in hell with radical fans making it worse when this couple should be PERFECT on paper.
That is the issue. As with Hudlin & McDuffie-they had no issue with writing the couple, everyone ELSE did. And where allowed to get away with it.
A little food for thought on the Storm & her "A list" status is the main reason for BP's success.
Black Panther
39 trades
188 solo issues
50 Black Panther action figures
1 solo movie
1 solo novel
1 ultimate guide
2 BP chapter book
2 kid's book
1 Black Panther reader for little kids
1 tv showish
1 soundtrack
Under his watch we have Midnight Angels, Vibraxus, Man Ape & others to form his OWN universe. Black males who can boast that? Spawn, Blade & Static.
Storm
3 trades
21 solo issues
At least 12
If she is so A List to get BP that? Where is it for HER? She would have all that too. If this was Peter Parker and Miles or Spider-Gwen-I could see that. Because Peter has it all.
The CREDIT for Black Panther's success after much RESPECT to his creators is PRIEST and those 62 solo issues. He planted that seed that lead to 11 years of a Black Panther solo run. The longest run for a black superhero lead NOT named Al Simmons.
Instead of trying to claim FALSE credit-maybe Storm and even X-Men fans need to ask where is that for HER? Maybe instead of tossing shade on BP-efforts should have been done to build her up along side him in the X-verse.

agreed. once this deal happens everything will fall into place hopefully. I'm excited to potentially she a flash back to him recounting his time with goddess of the skies. oooh that would be EPIC!!!

You are neglecting all comic book issue appearances whatsoever in which case, Storm beats Black Panther by far.
On top of that, you've completely ignored that Storm has appeared in more TV shows and video games than he has. Not to mention the variety of action figures she has had in her whole existence compared to Panther's.
Of course T'Challa will look better off if you just pick and choose items from when he is at his most popular, and Ororo is most starved of attention and respect. Compare their whole careers and look who has been most consistently on top.

Do people go to shows to see Beyoncé or her backup dancers? Cause those dancers generally shuffle around between artists and do more shows in the long run too. Guess they're the real stars.

You might want to pick that mic back up. When the real star shows up and sees you throwing around his stuff he's going to toss you off the tour.

I think the reason Hudlin married them in the first place was, because they are both stars. That's what made them a power couple. They were the highest profile black male and female characters at marvel. Hudlin didn't pick Storm to be a back up dancer ... he picked her to be his partner to perform on tour together.
The beauty of that relationship was that it was a marriage of equals .. something T'Challa likely could never have with anyone else.

Nah, it's more like a marriage of Matt Damon and that waitress. But I guess the heart wants what it wants.

I'm playing. But seriously, y'all are crazy if you think Storm generates or has ever generated anything close to the level of hype Panther is seeing right now.
It's not even in the same galaxy let alone the same ballpark.
People we're crying when they saw the trailer for Black Panther. Grown adults and children alike.
The only thing Storm has generated in audiences is a facepalm when Halle said that dumb Toad line.

I guess I'm in the minority but I would rather see Monica show up and see how the Nakia thing plays out than seeing Storm.
I still think she's a bad fit for in the bp world. It just doesn't work.

In this thread you are in the consensus opinion. There are only a few voices that are adamant about Storm being tied to BP.
Wonder why that is?
Must be because SHE's so popular.
