I am actually rooting (if not actively reading) for Namor and his Cabal, going forward. All grand pronouncements about morality, gods and monsters, right to choose and wot-not is just empty air, considering they are at the very same spot they were when issue one started...twenty-three issues ago. The Illuminati have proven themselves pointless and ineffective.
But the Cabal are just as useless, but doing even worse things. They are only delaying what is very much inevitable (as the Three Kangs stated recently), and murdering billions to do so. Because they aren't searching for the Great Destroyer; they're just following Black Swan's game.
The Illuminati are useless for now, but the fact that the Avengers will be hunting them down AND they'll figure out that Namor is killing worlds with Thanos and co. means they have no choice BUT to be active.
And I think T'Challa will lead the front on that. Because Tony won't be able to soon.

The Cabal seem to REALLY enjoy thier work.

Namor and the Cabal are delaying the inevitable at the cost of slaughtering billions. There is no nobility in what they do, they embrace the darkness and justifying their actions as necessary.

And they are alive to do all that solely because of Namor.

And Namor is in a losing fight without the Illuminati...
Or Doom I guess, but I doubt it. Point is, it's gonna take a yin/yang for this to work. Or the world getting involved.

But which should be lauded?
The one who does something...as atrocious (and self-serving) as it is...ensuring the survival of all.
The one who sits and does nothing while we all die (despite coming together for expressed purpose of not letting that happen).
As hypocritical as it sounds, I am backing the one who will do the unthinkable to ensure me and my loved ones are alive.

None, because they both made fatal errors. I'm sorry, I don't cheer for people who destroy entire planets worth of innocents.
But I'm not going to act like one side isn't necessary to solve the problem.

I think Namor and Captain America both know they aren't gonna be the ones that'll realise how to fix the incursion problem. They're there to make sure the big brains do. Namor thinks that means buying time, no matter what, even if the others don't wanna play anymore. Rogers thinks that means not letting them stoop to "the easy way out".

I dont think it has anything to do with what namor does..i think he just has fans no matter what. he drowns Wakanda and is applauded. he destroys a planet and he is applauded.
Everything that Namor has done would be called out as evil and treacherous if done by anyone else. If Bishop did it..he would be called a mass murderer. Especially if Black Panther did it. ( prior to him holding the bomb he was called a murderer if he used it)
I now know it has nothing to do with motive....Namor flat out said he wanted to kill MORE Wakandans...for his own pleasure. No " hey that was out of line" by Namor fans.
So I am at a loss as to why his behavior is acceptable but if others do it..its bad.
I agree with this. Shuri doesnt really need the title of the Black Panther. Being Queen Shuri is more than enough. Let TChalla be the symbol and Shuri be the leader.
Except that the Black Panther gig is a seamless combination of symbol and leader.
As Queen, Shuri is the leader and physical embodiment of Wakanda.
T'Challa is the King of the Dead and as such, has no rulership authority in Wakanda.
Interesting you see I am of the position that comics are fairly irrelevant when it comes to building a franchise powerhouse at least as it pertains to the Big 2. A few good runs sure but sustained momentum to shot a character to the top done by comics alone? Impossible in my book. Still I do prefer a more deadly T'Challa who is two steps ahead and more Machivellian myself but then again you also have to realize that all the hates would use nuking worlds to drag T'Challa through the mud while they celebrate Namor because hypocrisy. Of course, that might not matter to some but to garner sustained momentum u got build a fanbase and I am not sure ruthlessly destroying worlds is the way to go.
Agreed 100%.

I am not comparing his actions to those of others "should positions be reversed". That's not wot this is is about. At least not for me.
I am simply taking the character and the circumstance in and of itself, as the story dictates.
In context of how T'Challa is written...I sincerely wished he had the fortitude to destroy that other world (not without self-damning remorse, of course). His ancestors were right. From the perspective that "It takes more to do the unthinkable, knowing fully well it goes against every high-principle you hold yourself to." At that point, you are being singularly selfish because at all costs...an entire planet worth of lives...you want to adhere to your principles. That's why it fell to Namor to pull the trigger/release Thanos/form the Cabal...because he is not a man of many "high-principles", perhaps.
Like I said, I thought it was rather poorly written, overall.
If nothing else...Namor doing nothing (just like the rest of the illuminati) could certainly make for an interesting "What If...?"
-
Oh no this is turning into a classic "Namor" NA thread... ABORT ABORT WE DON'T NEED ANOTHER
(on the subject though, Hickman has pretty much set up at this point that everyone is wrong... illuminati, Namor, and Cap)
Anyway... back to BP stuff...
I am not sure how I would feel about a Shuri solo. I don't know how interesting it would be considering she has become kind of one note lately (which is great for a supporting cast but kind of 'meh' for a solo character on there own IMO). I mean, I would definitely read it but I doubt it would be on the top of my list of things to read each week.
Don't mean some writer can't come along and make her more interesting but as of right now... eh
won't matter because T'challa is getting a solo out of this
(thats right, riding the positive train right now... ALL ABOARD)

I do like him in OS. Only one not letting Fury's mountain of bullcrap divert his attention.

yeah...I beg pardon for the unintentional derailment. :D
