I see that Coates "T'Challa on his knees" protocols are still in full effect. Lol!
Props to Blind Wedjat, Marvell2100 and Ezyo1000 for keeping it 100% as usual.
You guys totally rock. :)
It's a shame that we even have to callout crap like that BCB.
@Maj
The imagery of the armed uniformed guys unloading firearms on a downed black man, that's the dramatic imagery that makes people stop and look. They have him surrounded and are trying to keep him down. I get that is a heated picture. The thing here is that T'Challa is the hero and we have hope in him that he isn't going to be a part of another sad and unjust scene, that he is going to subvert that idea, break that pattern and show them who they are messing with. At least that is the potential dramatic element and the hope to see in the book either figuratively or literally. Take a heated and important issue, place your hero in it and give him the chance to respresent right and the possibility of a better way, that evil gets punished not innocent/good. At least that is the hope for the issue.
Thanks for getting back to me GH. :)
To me the imagery is unfortunate for a myriad of reasons.
Firstly, the image of one the MU's genius level intellectuals who also happens to be ruler of the most technologically advanced nations in the aforementioned MU, repeatedly being depicted on his knees ad nauseum, has gone beyond being tired at this point.
Tattered suit that's been shown to withstand a veritable hail Storm of bullets both within previous runs as well as Captain America:Civil War isn't as much dramatic to me as it's soul numbingly tone deaf on the part of creative team that conceptualised the cover.
Secondly, the bullets, the Black male protagonist and the shell casings all around him, are equally I'll advised when juxtaposed against the fragility of black lives and the eventual spirit of untimely death that seems to sweep scythe like through so many men of African descents lives is one that cuts deep enough in the real world to such a degree that those of us (regardless of race, ethnicity, gender or background) who would love to enjoy tales set in the realms of the amazing, grow somewhat disillusioned and yearning for something a lot more progressively forward thinking and creative.
Post Priest, Hudlin and Liss, all we've had has been a never ending trudge through wholly depressing landscapes and scenarios for T'Challa with even the briefest rays of sunshine provided by the close of Hickman's Secret Wars dashed to the floor by what's transpired within the pages of T'Challa's current solo.
There comes a point when one comes to terms with the fact that one does not need to put up with such imagery and the feelings of hopelessness that come with continuous exposure to same.
There's been nothing inspiring in T'Challa's portrayal for quite some time now apart from when he's featured outside of his own primary solo book and that's quite unfortunate.
Nonetheless, we at least have Feb 2018 to look forward to as regards the Black Panther movie so it's not all bad.
Peace.

I think this post encompasses the many issues that some have with the image.

It's a never ending trudge.
T'Challa at least has his high profile going for him but characters like Bill Foster and Rhodey get sacrificed on the alter if convenience without a chance in hell of coming back just because....
You miss the point again. I've already said that issue isn't what is inside the book since we haven't read it. The problem is the cover and it's misrepresentation of T'Challa's abilities. We know the habit is bullet proof as evidenced in earlier runs. We know that it takes a lot more than bullets to do any damage to the suit as evidenced in previous runs. We've seen T'Challa fight and disarm several opponents while evading bullets as seen in previous runs.

Regardless of what happens inside the book we know that T'Challa has faced far worse than what is seen on the cover and has barely been affected. The cover is the issue, not what may or may not be inside the book.
I'm not missing tour point at all. You'really saying his costume should protect him, and I'm saying the cover implies he's facing opportunemts that apparently can bypass his protection somehow and that adds an element of danger.
Please, Show me how him kneeling to fodder is drama? Having him fully unharmed, Habit fully intact, Claws drawn in the crouched position ready to launch into action seems a lot more dramatic this is crap of a cover.
Or better yet, why not up the threat to something worthy of him looking a little battered but ready to kick ass.
This looks good, and dramtic

Funny How all of those look dramatic without Making T'Challa look weak at all.

The drama stems from him facing a threat capable of bringing him to his knees.
The story being told in that single picture is they can bring him down, but judging from the expression on his face they're not going to keep him down.
Amd there probably also meta elements at work there.

Which should not happen as we've seen. They are using standard automatic weapons which should have no effect. That doesn't add a level of danger when we've seen T'Challa withstand far worse than gunfire in the suit.

LOL What threat? All these "threats" who have brought Tchalla down to his knees in Coates run have be Redshirt's and z Listers.
Issue 1 Rock to the head, on his knees, issue 2, goons slam Gary and Zenzi put him on his knees, issue 3 goons and Tetu put him on his knees, issue 6 put on his knees in front of Stane now with this cover on his knees surrounded by Redshirt's..
7 Different instances on his knees 5 of which are against Redshirt's.. yea your gonna miss me with that "A threat capable of bringing him to his knees" mess. The real threat is Coates. Hell I'll count 8 times When he had some nobody Redshirt pld lady verbally put him on his knees with his Erza Miller Mary Sue bullshit character. All if it had Been bullshit with no real threat worthy to face Tchalla, just Coates fuckery.

Again, we don't knoe who they are or how they damaged the suit. The single picture doesn't tell us that. It might nit be just the bullets at work here. Something is happening that we don't have a full understanding of ... hence the need to read the actual story rather than judging the book by its cover.

Which you and others have stated may not even be in the issue. I don't give a rat's rear what's inside the cover. There's nothing about that image that leads me to feel any sense of drama or concern for T'Challa when I've already witnessed him withstanding far worse without a flinch.
As far as judging a book by it's cover, if it's a BP book with Coates' name is on it, I've already judged it. Thumbs down.

Hey, art is subjective. Some may feel the cover works and some may not.

And the people who feel that it doesn't work have stated their reasons why.
I thought it WAS McDaniel until I saw the sig.
He (Scott McDaniel) certainly has been around in comics long enough to have guys aping his style.
So I guess he studied McDaniel's book of how to ruin a black character. Her did a good number on Static.
If that was Batman, Superman or WW down on their knees like that-lets just say out rage would be an understatement. I can only image what someone with Photoshop would do to that image.

As for Bishop, he deserves better than the X-books.
