Because T'Challa's never prideful or manipulative???
When is he ever prideful? Over the years he has got himself into bad positions because he didn't just stand up and say "hey i am the king not you follow my orders or else". T'challa may play political games but he does not generally manipulate people he is friends with/ working with.
Emma Frost... when she was a Villian she had like grand schemes and designs to her manipulations and generally she was just an abused person trying to hurt others when she became a hero she started getting written as a "diva" type character that has this "i got to be on top" mentality and running all sorts of manipulations to get herself there.
LOL this has me thinking of how many actual friends among the X-men Emma actually has outside of Cyclops I cant really think of any even the cuckoos are more like her underlings than friends.

In Priest run I'd argue he manipulated people he worked with and friends quite a bit actually. I'd say calling T'Challa prideful and manipulative is fair.
But really, I think those are good traits for the character. We don't want everyone being a Peter Parker. With the right writer, those elements actually make him fun. And truthfully I'd say the same for Emma.

THIS! (and thank-you :) ). One of my favourite elements of Emma is you never know what she'll do, since she (unlike many heroes) will delve into that darker side to get the result she wants.

How so? Also "when" she became a hero she was written as a diva? Gurrrrrrrl, Emma's been Queen B since long before her hero days ;)

Banshee, Beast, Wolverine and Kitty would be Emma's major friendships outside of Scott (the Cuckoos are more mother/daughter in relationship). Magik is probably rising up there, too; and Namor (while more a romantic interest), they are arguably nonetheless friends.

as far as i remember he did some political stuff in Priests run some that iron man helped him with but that was political gamesmanship rather than manipulation other than the revelation that he joined the Avengers to spy on them there was not anything you can call manipulative. He even trusted Ross and let him do his job instead of feeding him disinformation to trick the us government.
And seriously when has T'challa been prideful? being prideful is different from being proud or having self confidence. The prideful person believes them self to be above others. Even when he was "king" he would let the advisors be outright hostile to him a prideful person would have had them silenced. if he had got rid of the grumbling advisors incidents like Monica lane getting framed for murder would not have happened.
T'challa has always been straight forward, noble, and traditionalist type character that why he plays the "moral compass" role on teams and stuff. sometimes it seems like he goes out of his way to help people like the collectors in the original brass frogs story and he didn't even like the collectors.

Just as an example... I thought T'Challa was a bit too prideful when he got mad at Storm for saving him in his fights against Doom and Kraven.
It's a flaw on his part. Which again isn't a bad thing at all. Feet of clay... that's how marvel likes them. Too much pride is practically a pre-requisite to get into the Illuminati club he's presently serving in.

I have never seen Banshee and Emma interact. Emma does not like Beast and the feeling is mutual, even now that Kitty and Emma are on the same team they hardly interact and even before chism they hardly ever did. Emma manipulated Namor because he liked her and used the rivalry that created with Scott to motivate Namor to do stuff she wanted. Magick and Emma have not had a meaningful conversation since they went rogue with Cyclops Magic has been keeping to herself. i view the cuckoos as Emma's underlings even with their new individualist and alleged hatred of her at first they have fallen back to doing her bidding as they always have. the most Wolverine did with Emma was send her nasty thoughts they never had any real interaction outside that. for me friends are the character the character interacts with on non hero stuff or banters with in a personal way during the hero stuff.
I find Emma quite straight forward she will do what is best for her and turn the situation into one that benefits her. Before Emma was a hero she was written as a megalomaniac especially in how she treated the hellfire grunts. now she does not have the delusions of grandeur she had then.

Since this is just an Emma post, we should continue this via PM (it is a BP thread, after all). Though you should pick up Generation X, Morrison's New X-men and Whedon's Astonishing X-men if you've never read them they're really good. :)

I backed Midnight Tiger on kickstarter. Issue #1 was pretty good, kind of had a Static feel to it more so that anything BP related.
Are we really going to do this in a thread about T'Challa, King of planning? ;) He's hardly "trustworthy" in that regard either (and I mean that in the best possible way, he plans how to take out his friends at a moments notice). Both understand that sometimes you need to break the rules or "not play fair" to get things done. They "get" that hard choices happen and it's not a perfect world. They'd be a very dangerous couple indeed, both willing to go to whatever lengths are needed to protect their own. Could be an epic new power couple?
Let's also not forget: while possessed by the phoenix.
Ugh. I've been away for too long. So much to catch up on.
Now are people actually shipping BP and the woman who was instrumental (the Phoenix just amplifies existing feelings and isn't mind control, btw) in Wakanda's destruction? As someone who's been a fan of Emma, starting back when she was a main X-villain, that's a terrible pairing. Why not ship Red Skull and Kitty Pryde while we're at it?

Give it about 30 issues and Emma will grow on you too! ;)
(Runs out of thread swiftly short range teleporting with much haste)
