Don't agree, Eric is a hero. Chadwick and Ryan said he was a hero. that's fact. The writer and main actor statements mean more then our opinions, because that's canon.
He's certainly sympathetic but he just casually murders people without hesitation and is ready to start a war where hundreds of thousands if not millions could die.
He's setting himself up to be a dictator.
I can't classify him as a hero.

I think they both said Monger is a hero in his own story. As most people don't see themselves a villains.

That's true of virtually every villain who isn't the Operative, lol

BTW, Erik, not Eric.
Or N'Jadaka.

In theory, all characters in fiction should be the heroes of their own story. I'm sure every remedial college creative writing teacher will tell you that.
In Killmongers case though, the movie definitely does go out of its way to allow you to see that.

True, but there are exceptions to every rule.
The canon Red Skull is evil, and knows it. The fun with him is seeing his scheme unfold, and then watching as he gets his ass kicked.
In Serenity, for instance, the main villain openly states that he's a monster. A needed one, but a monster all the same.
In an excellent webcomic Order of the Stick, Xykon openly refers to himself as a villain, and while he isn't compelling, he is hilarious.
But those exceptions be few and far between

Chiwetel Ejiofor would have made a truly compelling T'Challa.
Marvel totally wasted his considerable talent in Dr Strange as frak'ing Baron Mordo.
Chadwick was totally beta- as T'Challa.
Word to Killmonger.

Sorry brotha Maj but T'chadwick Will always be my Tchalla. The man was born to play the King and the way he Carries himself inside and outside the movie is inspiring

Why do people on Twitter keep insisting that Teyana Taylor play Madam Slay? Lmao.

He might have been excellent, I agree. We'll sadly never know. His character in Serenity was everything I would have wanted from a Priest inspired T'Challa.
But Chadwick was excellent, that we do know, and he was a perfect MU T'Challa.
-
I don't remember looking at the credits, but was Killmonger's girlfriend ever named?

Why not lmao. She’s fine, assertive, and seems like she could channel that energy. If they make her a third-string villain or something like Crossbones in Captain America it would be a dope appearance.

Chadwick pretty much had that role in the bag when he played in 42 as Jackie Robinson. Disney likes to keep a lot of their "top" talent employed by them.
In saying that I'm not a 100% sure who would have made a better BP. But I do agree that Chiwetel could have done a good job in the role.
Overall, I hope in the next film Marvel/Disney does a better job with T'Challa as a character in general.
(For those of you who will be instantly defensive of my statement.....I loved the movie and rank it in my top 5 fav's. Also bite me ;):o:p)

To be frank I don't see how Chiwetel would have done THAT much better of a job as playing T'Challa than Chadwick. To be quite frank, neither of them exactly LOOK or SOUND like what I'd expect T'Challa to look or sound like in real life, so it's not about that. They do have a bit of a similar in my opinion. I do think Chadwick has exactly the right kind of presence of T'Challa though, and he pulled off the role excellently, even though he's not MU/Priest T'Challa exactly. I've always accepted the MCU as another universe within the larger MU so I'm fine with changes. What matters to me most is that the character is compelling, well written, has good character arcs, and at least channels the spirit of the source material. Chadwick's T'Challa does all of that while bringing in different things.
One has to remember that Feige, Ryan and the Russo's had a vision of what they wanted their Black Panther to be, so the character is written a certain way and not everything is Chadwick's doing. Therefore I don't see how Chiwetel would have been that much better (even though he has had the opportunities to prove himself as a better actor than Chadwick) in the role.
