And we get to see his best with East of West. It would have been interesting to see what he could have done with his NA run if left to his own devices.
THe story would still be going on, probably looking at alternate universe number 85, we would have time jumped 8 years to advance the plot, maybe Bucky takes a trip down Time Stone Lane, Hickman would have had Wakanda attacked 5 more times, T'challa would have attempted to kill Namor 6x after 66 threats, failing each time for reasons, Barry would have been back handed 3 more times and possibly be orbiting the Earth right now, Shuri would have eventually stormed necropolis/Basts house nad go "wtf mane?" only for Bast to shrug and go "its been real" and teleport away somewhere to hang with the other pseudogods
Thor and Hyperion would be on buddy cop trip number 10, but thor would be missing an ear, half his hair, one leg, and his left nipple to go along with his detached arm. Black Swan would be someone making vague statments nad chewing up panel time.
Tetu: hey yo, even tho the death and destruction of your way of life is my prerogative... thanks for... yknow... saving all of existence and stuff, that one time. Would've been hard to set up my grand scheme of vengeance without that.
BP: Wow... look man, if i get a phyrric victory over you in which you die horribly... just know that i appreciate the gratitude you've shown. You're the first one to even acknowledge i did that shit... family, avengers and ex-wife included..
THIS THIS THIS
Not even Bast has shown up and gone "well done my child."
Nothing.
It is 100% clear in the ending of SW9 that T'challa knew he did somethinng with the gem to restore shit. He needs to put that on a billboard or something.

I actually like Achebe and think he is one of the villains with good potentials. Just don't see Michael B. Jordan playing him.

He isn't my favorite, not even close
he is... different. And I think someone with talent could adapt him to the big screen well and he could stand out with limited screen time.
i'd settle for Killmonger and Malice lol
I'm sure marvel didn't say to Hickman"Hey before T'Challa kicks ass have the Wakandas youth all die first, when he beats black dwarf (off panel) have him make a comment that he basically won by sheer luck, have him make a promise to kill a character then continue to make it then ultimately fail to do so then become bff with said character and squash the beef off panel in a random time skip." Those were Hickman's ideas. It's not like he couldn't have given T'Challa 1 solid no strings attached win that didn't precede or follow a bumbling moment

Those no name wakandan youths were Hickman creations that were interesting and yes killed in the vein of most no name new side characters. We do know who else all died in this event right (Thor, strange, Cap, iron and pretty much99% of the marvel universes). Hickman wisely placed those cool and interesting wakandan youths back into the mythos to be used in future stories (looking at you coats if the rapists weren't taking up so much panel space) so I'm still failing to see the problem. And I'm also still waiting for someone to tell me exactly what they expected Tchalla (or anyone) to do that wouldn't be pretty ridiculous considering the scope of the problem. Then....please name three characters that came out of this event looking better than Tchalla. Namor is the only logical complaint I've heard launched at "Hickman's" Tchalla.
When this event is made into either a game, cartoon or movie and a lot of these fights and action scenes that didn't have space to be included Are, then Tchalla will look even that much more a threat and major player in marvel that Hickman made him out to be. The Mayberry comparison is outright laughable and reaching.
A different spin on What exactly?
I don't like that sort of talk. Coogler and his friend better stay on script
Just about every single MCU movie has had some notable divergence from the source material. If anyone is going into this movie expecting a 100 percent straight off the page adaptation, they're gonna walk away disappointed. We already have at least one big notable difference regarding T'Challa's origin.

I personally expected T'challa to act like T'challa.
1. Threatened to kill Namor. Didn't succeed. Resolved off panel.
2. Tried to kill Namor. Failed because he wanted to pseudobrag, which is 100% out of character.
3. Couldn't pull the trigger when blowing up the world (which is fine). Got mad at Namor because he could (which isn't fine). Despite the fact he is the one that brought Namor into this.
4. Lied to Shuri. Over and over. For no good reason stated on panel. Oh, this was solved... off panel... in a time jump.
5. Said Illuminati is stupid earlier. Brought in Illuminati because, reasons.
6. Stored Thanos and Co in Wakanda. Left a dude named Maximus THE MAD to stay and watch over them.
7. Kept it so vague at what the Gem (THEY COULDNT EVEN CHOOSE A GEM) did that no one is 100% sure what the hell T'challa actually did with it.
1. Reed. 2. Doom. 3. Strange. 4. Any of the new AIM group that tried to solve the problem and sacrificed themselves to do it.
-
This is. Waste of time. Hickman's Panther had some great things, but he really dropped the ball HARD. Everything Mind and Maj mentioned is 100% true.
But there needs to be some consistency. If you are bashing Hickman, you can't be riding to Coates "Goon Slammed, DO nothing Panther, who is far worst and not approach hypocrisy. Jason Aaron wrote T'challa in three issues, and it was clear after two that it was a classic Panther Story.
On Michael B. His kilmonger will have shad of grey or he's a race bent Hunter.

1 and 2 are easily justified. Revenge can lead to mistakes. It did for Namor, it did for T'Challa equally. They had a lot to mutually understand (including the deaths of their people), so it made sense for them to resolve their differences. Should have happened on panel.
3 was just T'Challa losing all his cool. Circumstances justify it, as unfortunate as it was to see.
4 was mostly because of Namor's involvement and general Illuminati policy. A deal with the devil he knew would go wrong but thought the incursion was a big enough situation to justify it. He was wrong like the rest of the Illuminati. And c'mon, a former king trying to handle everything himself is ooc? T'Challa of all people trying to do it all himself is OOC? He was wrong and messed up, but that alone doesn't make it ooc.
5, Incursion. Everyone was trying to justify dumb stuff because of it. Which brings to 6. That's on Black Bolt primarily. And the storage of Thanos, I still haven't heard a decent alternative to that yet. Not that Necropolis was a decent choice.
7... Yeah, Hickman and Marvel royally f'd up there.
As for that list, hell no to Reed, Doom, and Strange. Strange got a lot of people killed with his magic and the Ebony Kings. He only redeemed himself defying Doom.
Reed and Doom's collective egos got in the way of fixing the problem time and time again. Reed is the flagbearer of the, "don't tell anyone" rule as much as Tony, to the point where he excluded the guy with the answers, Doom.
Doom, the guy with all the answers, couldn't let his ego go for a second, creating a bigger mess than the end of the multiverse. The only person who screwed up worse than Doom is Tony Stark. And that's by personal action. Scale wise, nobody surpasses Doom.
I get that Hickman's T'Challa was FAR from ideal (that was the point, for all characters involved). But Priest Panther would have underminded the entire premise.

He said "better" not "good."
Reed got to fix everything. In the end, he is with his family, creating universes.
Doom saved evertyhing, kinda. Without him, the life raft is just floating in... nothingness? And, in the end, he is smiling, face renewed.
Strange first save dthe planet by whiping out Not Justice League, and then helped save things with Doom, and then sacrificed himself to save the Life Raft people WHILE starting the revolution by sending people where they need to go (and by hoarding the IG).
and Re: do it himself... he didn't. He brought in the Illuminati. If he was just doing it purely by himself, i could see him being secretive with everyone (bc thats in character). But he didn't... he brought in the group he detested and then lied about it over and over.
JMO. It wasn't the worst T'challa portrayal ever. Definitely wasn't the best. Sucked it was the most widely seen version though, one that Coates loves and could very well be the "tchalla" that is used from here on out
EDT #2: and, just to clarify, i don't hate the portrayal. Kill namor and show the Black Dwarf fight on panel and I would like it a ton mor elol

But, anyway, this is what hapepns when issues get pushed back and there is nothing else to talk about. You get storm, hickman, and its abotu time for a Shuri argument right about now hahahaha
