Except it wasn't see storm and die. Its a Bo story and storm was a supporting cast member. Your not gonna have storm perform this mega fest like soloing the skrulls in a BP book, unless the strategy was to hold the skrulls off till storm could gather enough power to one shot them. So if storm is "nerfed" in a Bp book, yet still getting s good showing then it's okay
Sure. As I said a couple of times I understand why they didn't have Storm just end the fight in two panels even if she likely could have. It ruins the story about Wakanda fighting the Skulls. Despite being a bit of a plot hole I don't think it's necessarily a big deal... I just don't qualify it as a feat on Storms part. She didn't really do anything. That could have been a random Dora and the story would have been exactly the same. It's not much of a Storm feat if Storm could literally be interchangable with anyone else on the battle field. Not for one of the most powerful beings on the planet.
But I'll repeat that this is still my all time favorite BP story. I'm not really knocking it. Just disagreeing with the notion on what sort of a showing this was for Storm in particular. It's like saying Black Panther in Civil War 2 this week was a feat. It really wasn't. It wasn't a bad showing per say... but he was just kinda there. It's fairly neutral.
Brother Marvell you're forgetting that when in a X-Men comic it's ok that she get nerfed as you can hear the crickets chirping when it happens and the audience shows their approval of it with their silence but the second it happens outside of the X-Books then there's problems and folks rise up with cries of Marvel hates the X-Men and this is why they need to stay in the X-Verse and other key moves in mental gymnastics
And I say this as someone who hates Storm but is well aware of the double standards people have with her
Truthfully when you are as powerful as Storm, you are often not written to your full potential. There are occasions where Storm if written to her full potential can end a given conlict in seconds... she's potentially that powerful. But like many powerful characters (Superman being the posterboy of it, but it certainly applies to a lot of other people), they are written below their potential.
So no... Storm being neutered a bit isn't something new. In this case being completely powerless is still arguably one of the more extreme instances of that, but nonetheless it was necessary to tell the story the writer wanted to tell. The fact that Storm could likely ended the conflict in 2 panels is preceisely why the writer wouldn't want her to. Having a character like Storm in a story can be a logistical problem in a story, and not every writer can handle that sort of thing as well as some fans might like.

There's a history of that with Storm and there are some fans who are starting to show their disapproval. But yeah, there is that mentality among some who say it's all good as long as she's appearing in an X-book. That mentality doesn't do anything for her and it's the reason why you have vocal fans in the BP thread(you can find the same kind of fans in the Namor thread too). Not all of us are going to accept things just because BP has a solo book. Some of us are going to question things that we find unacceptable, whether we are in the majority or in the minority.
Synergy with the comics, perhaps?
Haven't seen the episode yet, but I'm surprised they went with Aneka, being that Okoye will be the leader in the MCU.
I think at one point Boseman said Coates run would influence everything Black Panther.
Not that Boseman is necessarily in a position to know that, at least on the animated side of things.... but it makes sense. I'm sure the people making the cartoons are at least familiar with the comic. And if Coates is influencing the movie, he'll likely be influencing the cartoons because odds are the cartoons are influenced by the movies.
So overall I do think a synergy of sorts is being created. And down the line the movies and cartoon may well influence Coates. Probably not NOW since Coates first year is already in the can. But a year from now or whatever, it's a possibility.
Omg u guyz
That was so awesome when in civil war 2 issue 5 bendis had panther hold iron man so carol could punch him super hard!
Thanks for the update FriendRoss. I'm not following the event so it good to see that Bendis hasn't "Bendisized" T'Challa yet.

The Coates run is already influencing the movie, apparently. Coogler mentioned it in a recent interview. Chadwick said he's been reading it too.

So I'm not the only one who hasn't read a single issue of CW II, then lol

Ha! All I needed to know was two words -"Bendis" and "event".
That was more than enough reason for me not to pick this up.

Hopefully in a not what to do method.
Be a real shame for that woke brother Coogler to frak this up when the two White Dudes got the Character Right.

Judging from some of Coogler's comments, he appears to be a fan of Coates work. Though I'm doubtful it'll be any sort of direct translation of his work onto the movie.

In Feige I Trust
I don't care who the writers are, director, composer, ect
As long as Feige is around, and until he messes up, I can count on, at a minimum, an above average action movie with the focus on the lead hero + some comedy.
So... the exact opposite of Coates run.
I ain't worried one bit.
Re: CWII
T'challa is just pure background. In fact, everyone but Stark and Carol have been pretty much background or used as story telling devices (Hulk, Clint, now Miles).
The Avengers episode today was fantastic. As perfect of an introduction as you could give to BP. The spirit of T'Chadwick was strong in that one.
Interesting that they chose Aneka, as opposed to Okoye. Also the subtle re-purposing of the doras that they implied at the end.
Once again they made Klaw formidable and someone that needs a big team up to take down.
Been waiting for months for this one episode, and about damn time. It'll be interesting next when he's interacting with vision, captain marvel, ms marvel and the rest of the new squad.
Yeah it was awesome. I can't wait to see more

I think being background in events like Civil War is the least awful thing that can happen to you.

I'm confident it won't be a direct translation. At best, it'll be just as we've all expected concerning the other runs: the movie will take bits and pieces of various runs and use them to fit the overall story.
Speaking of runs influencing the MCU, here's what we have so far:
-Stan and Jack = T'Challa, T'Chaka, Klaw, and Wakanda.
-McGregor = Killmonger.
-Priest = Nakia, Okoye, Everett Ross, and the Dora Mijale.
-Hudlin = The Doras as a unit (implied, so far).
We haven't heard of/seen stuff from Mayberry and Hickman run. I suspect we'll see something resembling the KOTD ability of seeing the previous panthers. I'm not sure yet what Mayberry stuff we'll see. Perhaps Aneka will make a quick appearance.

True, it could've been worse.
