I REALLY HOPE NOT!!!! I trying to keep hope alive. Also I can live without the KOTD title. I don't think its stupid I think it served it's purpose for the storyline. So restoring him to King of Wakanda with the powers and abilities than he gained as KOTD is perfect for new and more interesting stories and to add to the BP mythology. Want do you guys think?
I meant in regard sto the movie

I think it highly likely that, like most of the throwaway concepts Hickman came up with, the KOTD mantle and powers will never be brought up again. Hickman never really explained what they were, and it feels like the only reason they ever existed is so the Panthers of the past could scold T'Challa like a truant child.
I totally agree I think it would be a total waste to completely get rid of the abilities BP received as KOTD. However one major problem is we have never seen the BP use the abilities offensively or defensively. They have not done a good job at all highlighting the KOTD powers and it would be a tragedy to just write these abilities off. Think about BP ability to summon the knowledge of all previous BPs the combat, the battle strategy, the mystic knowledge. I think for comic and movie purposes it would make BP that more interesting and continue to establish BP as that GUY!!!! That is what Marvel is attempting to do right????
I am very interested in how they will portray BP in new CA movie in 2016; because let's face it CA, Winter Solider and Iron man should not be able to hold a candle to a royal warrior born and bred since birth in the most technology advanced nation on earth with super human strength, speed, agility, reaction, senses, master of all forms of martial art known and unknown with the ability to draw knowledge and strength from centuries of previous BPs while already being a Super genius, one of the 7 smartest people in the world. (I personally rank him and Reed Richards as a tie given the area in question, but that's just me). Now Marvel if you want a the fans to love BP, see great numbers when his solo title debuts in Feb 2016 and have record breaking numbers at the Box office when his movie debuts in 2018 go with that characterization and you be WINNING!!!!!!
I don't think he'll be written to the point where Stark won't be able to hold a candle to him.. but I certainly think T'Challa will end up looking pretty darn awesome in the movie. He has his own movie coming down the pike, so I certainly think they're going to want to show him being someone that's worth the attention.

I think a big part of it was just getting T'Challa back things he lost without taking anything away from Shuri. He lost his powers and title as King to Shuri, so KotD essentially repowered him and allowed him to go around calling himself a king again.
I think the only real add on to what he previously had was the ability to talk to dead kings, which seemingly was to get that scene with his dad scolding him. That said, it's still a potentially interesting power to play with if they want to down the line if he still has it. Though if he doesn't I'm not sure it's a huge loss.

The thing about King of the Dead is that it was mostly there was a place holder. They needed a way to get T'Challa his powers and suit back without contradicting what was going on with Shuri at the time, so they just pulled out this idea that allowed him to become a second Black Panther even though Wakanda had one already at the time. If they're simplifying things and making him king again then it's not needed.

They're definitely not using King of the Dead in the movie. That's not a knock against the concept but it's a fairly recent development and the movies aren't big on magic anyway. **** we had them saying Thor is basically an alien not a real magical god.
And they are not gonna have him outshining and humiliating Captain America and Iron Man in their own movie. Or at least not to the degree people seem to be hoping for. I have no idea why people keep bringing this up.

Considering his appearance in Civil War will be promo for his solo film, T'Challa has to have a good showing. No questions about it. That doesn't mean he has to chump out the title character, but he has to do some cool and impressive stuff that intrigues people. Showcase his abilities and his intelligence.

Sure. But there's good ways to show that and give him a good showing other than what the poster described as "Showing that Captain America, Iron Man, and the Avengers are no match for him whatsoever and can't hold a candle to him."
No matter how good they're going to want him to come across to set up his spin-off, they're not gonna do so at the cost of the characters people are actually paying to see.
I'm confident he'll get a good showing but the people thinking we're gonna get two hours of T'Challa beating up Iron Man and Cap while they sob on the ground and beg for mercy are gonna be disappointed.

Indeed. He'll get a good to great showing but flat out beating up Cap or Tony? In this movie? Helll naw. Let's not get our hopes up that high.

This.
The best we can expect to see is him and Cap having a h2h fight and he stalemates cap in terms of fighting prowess, and against tony (if they do fight) would be him getting a good shot on him and damaging his armor. Expecting anything else is more likely to disappoint fans.
As for KotD in the ANAD line up. If people have an issue with that title it can easily be change to something else. his titles could read "The King of Wakanda" "The Black Panther" and "Baast's Champion" that last signifying that he still has the KotD powers granted to him. Its a good concept that didn't get explored at all and thats simply a waste, writers don't necessarily have to pick up where one writer left off, but they also shouldn't completely disregard everything the previous write applied. Thats where we get inconsistencies on what BP's standard gear is.

it was never explored so there is nothing to "leave behind" other than the talking to Force Ghost stuff, which can easily be changed as something a Black Panther cna do in Necropolis
It was an empty title to this point that served its purpse (giving T'challa powers back) but as a title, there is nothing there (unless the last few issues of SW change that)

Again there is also the fact that it was shown in the ANAD preview line up that he would have Vibranium weapons and KotD powers. It didn't say the title so maybe we will see writers apply the knowledge and powers of the Panthers and kinda integrate that into being the BP in general. Either option works, i just think it would be cool and also ensure that BP not only takes on cosmic threats with his always prepared characteristics. but if he has to trade blows he has a way to even the odds

eh, vibranium has popped up here and there under hickman, its been back for all intensive purposes.

Right and Vibranium will definitely help, but i think he will need a little bit more incase he has to go toe to toe with a cosmic level threat. again
