Welcome back MoS.

Add a dope writer who actually knows what they're doing and we might have something legit.
Yeah Art Quality is the least of the issues.
Just give Al Ewing both titles. Ultimates may be have been light on action(up 'til now) but the characterization of T'Challa has been spot on.

> Slow clap<!
The problem with Coates isn't the writing. Maybe you could say his pacing is slow but that is general comics problem to me. The narrative choices are the problem. Even Mr. Majestic's Flowery Language above wont make this Simpish Inept T'Challa okay, it wont make him getting beat or voluntarily taking punches better, it wont make him less incompetent, it wont make these Rape Camps disappear, etc. Coates not being a comic book writer is not the issue here. His incessant Character Assasination of T'Challa is, his lack of basic understanding of the character is, his disrespect for continuity is the problem, his Boko Haraming of Wakanda is the problem, His Eurocentric Vision for Wakanda is at fault, and his lack of understanding or believe in Afro-Futurism is at fault. The quality of Prose is irrelevant to me. Color it however you want a crap burger is a crap burger and no amount of Hot Sauce or Ketchup will change that.
JediKage going straight Midnighter on TNC!

I don't think Hudlin would be interested in investing anymore of his time and talent on a BP book only to have his contributions rolled back again.
Ewing hasn't been brutalized by Marvel Editorial yet, so I can definitely see him in a BP solo writing gig.

I find this whole Shuri thing to be a waste of pages and boring jargon tbh.
He should have just said she came back at the end of Secret Wars instead of wasting pages with this shit
I won't be supporting this book. I'm barely bringing myself to read the current panther run. All this book does is solidify Coat's pet heros and give him further reason to not invest in characterizing (properly) Tchalla or the royal family.
If this was a book focusing on Okoye, Nakia, Zuri, Shuri, Vibraxas etc I would buy it but these characters nah.

That wouldn't have helped Coates "inept King of the Wakanda Rape Camp" agenda.
Meh Coates didn't bring Shuri back he wants to make T'Challa look bad. Even though logically it makes zero sense. T'challa reset to the start of the Incursions on 616 which means No Thanos Invasion and thus no Shuri getting killed or beaten up.

The question is what does Coates have planned for her? I can see him having her side with The People against T'Challa.
Why not, he's screwed everything else.

Pretty Dope artwork. Excluding everything else, what Ghost-Ramonda was talking about was kind of deep.

I'd be in favor of this (might help prevent the delays from happening again). I haven't liked Stelfreeze's action much at all (and I'm using the term "action" loosely).

T'Challa's reset didn't mean no incursions, because we still have the Squadron Supreme's and the Makers universes still destroyed. Shuri's death is just one in several pieces of evidence pointing to the incursions still having happened.
But despite the incursion, Coates theoretically could have still brought Shuri back immediately. But he instead chose to give her a story arc independent of what's happening in Wakanda. Personally I don't think tha'ts a bad idea. If the Black Panther mantle and Wakandan throne is taken from her, I think she needs something her own to define her apart from T'Challa. Hopefully the current story arc will give her that.

Though I agree Stelfreeze's action has been on the stiff side, I prefer consistency with the art. I think jumping from one artist to another would be kinda jarring unless there was some sort of logical break you can cut away from one to another (like flash backs or something). I think it would just be weird if they were drawn differently from one page to another.

The cover for a lot of these are so good. Damn you Coates!!! lol
Brings new meaning to never judge a book by its cover. Although Coates is doing the opposite of how that parable is suppose to work.
Welcome back MoS.
And Coates. And makes me wish the Incursion actually hit. That's how whack his run is...

Meh I think would probably be fine tbh. They could flow well together. That or Stelfreeze get some lessons from Sprouse on action scenes. Because if they were more fluid from a visual artwork side it would be 12/10

BLACK PANTHER #8
TA-NEHISI COATES (W) • CHRIS SPROUSE (A)
Cover by BRIAN STELFREEZE
Connecting Variant Cover D by ESAD RIBIC
VOYAGE INTO THE DJALIA
• T'Challa's research and technology takes him to a place that not even THE CREW can follow: THE DJALIA, Wakanda's collective memory.
• Just getting there was hard, but finding SHURI across their nation's past, present and future might turn out to be impossible.
• Even so, the strain on his Soul-Stalker abilities might tear him apart before he gets very far...
32 PGS./Rated T ...$3.99
New abilities. New places...new new new but nothing of value.
Remember this guy...

nothing new and techy about that. Just T'challa.
No building just new new new.
T'challa is all over Captain Marvel issue today BTW.
Its mostly them discussing Ulysses back and forth, acting like Adults.

I figured Shuri would find a way out on her own. Maybe Shari's arc will end up as something cool. I am thinking though that Coates is gonna use Shuri as the piece to rally the people of Wakanda

I'm actually curious how the Wakandans view Shuri.
She was technically the one ruling during all the bad stuff that happened under Hickman. Do the Wakandans blame her too, or is their ire more directed solely at T'Challa? I can sort of seeing it go either way. On one hand Shuri was technically the one in change. On the other hand, many can rightfully assume hiding the Avengers in Wakanda was more T'Challa's idea even though Shuri had to authorize it since she was right there when it was happening. And Shuri flat out didn't know about the Cabal stuff.

We haven't even SEEN (on panel) how civilian Wakandan's even feel about T'challa, let alone Shuri.
But, you could argue (I go back and forth) that Shuri not listening to T'challa and counter-attacking Atlantis, thus destroying it, is what lead to Namor sending Proximus to Wakanda for the second invasion. and increased Namor's manufactured hatred of Wakanda, leading to him wanting it blown apart by the Cabal later. Of course, if Shuri had all the available information from T'challa... she might have reconsidered her attack.
But, at the same time, Shuri not mobilizing her army would have meant they may have been caught off guard by Black Dwarfs invasion, and thus not able to push it back.
It can be fun to ponder what would have happened if T'challa acted like himself and bothered to inform his queen and brought her into the Illuminati with him. Oh well.
Here are the relevant scans and spoilers from Captain Marvel #8 by the way

Course, had Shuri had the available information it's entirely possible she would have tried going after Namor sooner (given he was hanging around in Necropolis) and Namor would have had the same issues with her and Wakanda only for different reasons. It's hard to say. Shuri knowing creates a potentially big butterfly effect.
My personal view is the biggest difference maker would be that Shuri wouldn't tolerate working with Namor. And the loss of Namor would mean no one stops the Great Society incursion. But it's hard to say.
I'm hoping the opening arc of Black Panther finishes strong. I find myself losing interest and I came in with an intensity to want to like it.

It's really hard to keep track of who is on whose side in this event. Ms. Marvel seems on Carols side here, and Steve seems to be on Carols side on the cover of this book and in Wolverine at least. But they're on Starks side by the end of CW 4.
T'Challa seems to be one of the more vocal people about questioning Carol... but his concens seem to be relatively satisfied and he stay son her side by the end of CW 4.
I guess a lot of shifting is going on in the tie in books.

That and she would've provoked the ire of the Wakandan government and the Wakandan people. Everyone, from the government to the people, was on board for war. Though she was in favor of it, it was also a very political move.
She already had an opposition within Wakanda that was feeding information to Namor, resulting in the death of several high-level Wakandan troops. Just imagine how big that opposition would've been if she went against going to war without an incredible reason not to.
It can be fun to ponder what would have happened if T'challa acted like himself and bothered to inform his queen and brought her into the Illuminati with him. Oh well.
Indeed. I'm of the opinion that war would've been delayed due to the enormity of the situation. Other say that not much would've changed. Other say that she wouldn't tolerate working with Namor and tried to get him killed as soon as possible. Lots of scenarios if the knowledge of the incursions and/or the illuminati was passed on.
