Joker didn't lay hands on Batman and mock him in front of his own ppl before tossing him into a waterfall though. And before you reference comics Killmonger, this clearly wasn't Killmonger from the comics. If US military training is enough to do that then the US has a lot of potential Kings of wakanda running around in camo. No one here is disputing the greatness of the movie. Coogler made a made movie but that....wasn't T'challa. The russo's did much better and will again most likely in Infinity.
What's Killmonger's training in the comics when we meet him in Panther's Rage? Because I don't recall him being anything special other than the Ken Norton to T'Challa's Ali (and that's before we even get into T'Challa having powers in the comics vs in the MCU when they're stripped away). Besides, the film explicitly shows that only the tribes can challenge on Challenge Day, while members of the Royal Family can challenge at other times. Hell, Ramonda tells T'Challa not to honor Killmonger's request, suggesting that he could have rejected the challenge. It's not like anyone can go and challenge the king.
Also, here's Joker laying hands on Batman in what many consider to be the best Batman movie.
Well then Iron Man without his suit. You get the idea
and I don't want articles I want visuals, I want backstory, I wanted T'challa and this character really could have been anyone. That's not due to T'chadwicks performance because I'm a fan, dude is legit in all aspects of acting and can actually do his fight scenes correctly (looking at MBJ and how poor his waterfall fight was because he can't). Can anyone who saw the movie answer ANY of these questions?
How long has T'challa been the Black Panther?
Why did his father give him the mantle and not Shuri who is "leading the nation forward" at the age of 16?
What did T'challa look like as a boy? I know what Michael B Killmonger looked like. I know What schools Michael B Killmonger went to, I know what training Michael B Killmonger had. I don't know ish about T'challa after his debut solo movie other than he's a man his a good heart who listens to advise from others.....why? That's my complaint. Great movie, great message but...Who the hell is this T'challa?
1.) T'Challa's been the Black Panther since Iron Man one as seen in the prequel comics.
2.) The way I read the prequel comics, T'Challa seemed to take the mantle of Black Panther from someone else (before seeing the movie, I thought this might have been N'Jobu), not his father. T'Chaka would still have been quite old at the time. Shuri would have been six going off of ancillary materials (her age isn't stated in the film itself).
3.) They show young T'Challa briefly as he enters the ancestral plane. We see the younger T'Chaka put his hand gently on his son's face and then it jump cuts to the same gesture from Civil War. I'm guessing there's probably cut scenes of him as a young boy that were cut for time.
4.) I don't get this last question? We know he's a hero with strong morals who goes from isolationist to positioning Wakanda as a global superpower. We know he has a great deal of empathy for his foes (M'Baku/Killmonger), but also is capable of being ruthless (Klaue). We know he puts his country before himself (he doesn't risk Wakanda's secrecy for getting revenge on Klaue). Do you just mean background?

So are the kingship and the role of Black Panther separate or did T'Chaka just separate the roles with T'Challa when he got older? I was debating this with a few people when we were discussing who gets the heart shaped herb.
Also what are the good new BP stories right now?

Well T'chaka was both. But I guess he retired from BP as he got older. He was looking pretty old in 1991. lol. Tchalla became it in 2008. So they can be separated when necessary.
Rise of Black Panther is good. Only two issues in so far.

The mantles of king and Black Panther are separate titles, as established in Captain America: Civil War. Killmonger even clarifies that he's challenging for both titles in the throne room. I don't think T'Chaka did this based on T'Challa's dialogue in Civil War, where he refers to the Black Panther as a mantle "passed from warrior to warrior." The way he says it seems to imply that it's been a warrior lineage for awhile. Assuming T'Chaka is in his 40s in 1992 (I'm basing that off of Sterling K. Brown being 41 and the younger brother, but black don't crack so they could both be closer to Atandwa Kani's age of 33), that would make him anywhere between 55 and 70 in Civil War (actor John Kani is 75). So 45-60 at the time T'Challa is beginning as Black Panther. I have a feeling someone would have challenged or been bestowed the mantle in the interim between T'Chaka and T'Challa.
But it's the Black Panther who gets the Heart-shaped herb.

The heart shaped herb is only given to the descendants of Bashenga as established in the intro.

That awkward moment when you realize that the Russo's had Coogler doing BP's fight scene's to keep him consistent with how Coogler wanted to portray him..

No, it's the Royal bloodline, but it's established thst the 5 tribes are all apart of that bloodline so they can akk be King/queen and BP
Yup, so of course they're happy to be able to say stuff like this.
T'Challa was never a Gary Stu. He was a genius (tactical and scientific), king, and superhero. Doesn't make him unstoppable. But people hate to see my guy at his peak.
Crying about black panther getting beat up in a single fight or sharing his genuis trait with his sister is laughable
Nobody hates to see King T'Challa at his peak. I'm just happy he got a damn movie finally. The way some of you act it's like you rather the movie not come out if it's not 100% like Christopher Priest. This isn't 616 idk what's so hard to understand about that.
It reminds me of the Spider-Man only fans after Homecoming released. Complaining about the suit taking away from Peter's intelligence or something. I mean The Winter Solider is looked at as the best MCU movie by alot of people. Cap lost basically every time he fought the Winter Solider and woke up in the hospital after the final fight. It's not the end of the world. Your floppies still exist

I'm curious to see what direction they go with the villain for the next film. I still don't think Killmonger is dead (especially with the whole anti-hero portrayal and Coogler's love for MBJ). However, I think they need to actually have a proper and true villain for the next one. I think it should be Achebe with Mephisto pulling the strings behind the scenes.

Yes and the beginning of the royal bloodline was Bashenga

They took most of T'Challa's traits away and people are arguing a character without flaws isn't compelling. Oddly enough people aren't finding this neutered panther compelling. So what was the point?

Royal bloodline= Bashenga's descendants
No, this is a trait exclusively for Tchalla. Like Anderson Silva and vs Chris Weidman. Killmonger just has his number.
Of course he can beat anyone without super powers too.
I actually love this comparison.

The side characters in Black Panther are getting more praise than
Rhodey, Falcon, Bucky, Black Widow, Thor, Hulk, Hawkeye, Scarlet Witch, or Vision ever got.
Even M'Baku getting more praise than the Avengers members. Think about that for a second.

What’s interesting about so many people in this thread disliking Coates work, is that Priest is a self professed fan of what he’s done, and where he’s going with BP.
