If BP holds well this weekend, it will be <400K from becoming the 3rd movie all time to reach $700 million domestic.
Now it all depends on Disney when they decide to pull the movie if it will hit that landmark.
It's not entirely up to Disney how long it stays in theaters. That's sort of up to the theaters.
That said, if Disney really wanted it to hit the landmark, it probably should have deleyed releasing the BP movie on DVD/Blue Ray. A lot of people are less likely to see the movie in theaters again if they own a copy.
Mr. MajestiK,
Would you feel me less a man if I admit reading this put a lump in my throat?
Thank you for the kind words, it makes me wish I spent more time here when my eldest DD was around.
After finally finishing all 5000+ pages of this thread I truly think you and the Flex person are like the God Fathers of this thread /no offense to the other wonderful fine young gentlemen and gentleladies/, I look forward to your posts and his. You are both like EF Hutton! :)
Aw shucks,.
I'm feeling all bashful now.
Mantis was one of the coolest posters to grace this (and the Namor) thread and she always used to talk about how you introduced her to the wonderful world of mainstream comic books.
It goes without saying that it's a real honor to have you amongst us here.
Flex-Hectic hasn't posted in awhile but when he does, it's usually a riot of laffs.
Its hard to say how long it can maintain, it would really just be easier if Disney did a little push to get it over
The movie did what it did as far as smashing box office records against negative/low expectations.
I'm more invested in how well the sequel will do.

It's good to have peeps like, MoS, EZ, Cville, butterflykyss Mike_Murdock and the rest to keep the thread going.

I definitely miss the the absent folks you mentioned too.
They really made BP appreciation a troll free joy.
Nowadays, with the exception of a few instances, this thread has become more of a chore with all of the discussion of peripheral characters and villains from another franchise that have ZERO relevance to the forward progression of T'challa and Wakanda.

Black Panther 1 is off to a very nice start. Obviously those are inflated numbers as it's an issue one and there were a bunch of varients, and the second issue will drop like a rock. But it's still a nice start.

Wow, I loved this a whole lot! Christopher seems like a truly genuine man and I really enjoyed the last few minutes when he talked about T'Challa.
Conclusions; he is super modest about his impact on the Panther becoming iconic. It was very noble of him to give credit to all the BP writers from Stan to the current writer. I know many on this thread don't like the current direction of the comics, or all the runs in between FF #52 and present (myself included), but listening to Christopher makes me want to be the "bigger man" and see something special that all of the writers have done for this great, great hero that has made him what his is today; "An Icon"!
Looking back, it is hard to imagine his run having hate mail. Maybe 10 years from now we will be shocked that people hate the current direction? Christopher, as he said, went back to the "Stan Bible", and that was really neat how he pointed out so many things from each writer that appeared in the movie.
Lastly; Christopher with the other writers all at the premiere together, as one, to see the opening show. Wow, I would of loved to be sitting right behind them! :)
Thank you Surf for posting this; going forward I am going to try and be "more Priest" in my attitudes towards the current writer, and any who follow.

It was nice that he gave props to the other BP writers. Super classy guy. But I especially like that he gave props to McGregor. I thonk he says 85% of what you see I'd from him. McGregor contributed so much to the mythos, but do many probably never even heard of him or his run. So it's nice that he's getting his well deserved props.

I agree it's selling pretty solidly, but why not just let Evans write another mini or spinoff book? My biggest issue with the mini is it didn't really have a ton of focus. It would be much better if he got to write another story set in a concrete period in T'Challa's life without requiring him to shoe-horn in a lot of different disparate elements.

I certainly agree with you XPac. McGregor's run in Jungle Action was when I became a Panther fan.
I enjoyed him in the early FF issues, but I read those as back issues. I really liked him from the time I started reading the Avengers off the rack (issue #115), but the Jungle Action comics is really were I said to myself; This is a hero! I could follow this guy, I could read about him every day, I don't care that he does not look like me; he is simply too cool to not love. That early love for T'Challa is something I will never forget.
Memories, especially ones from our child hood are very powerful. Jungle action will always be my "first love", even though I have moved on to love others.

Why though? Rise was selling good m let it continue. The problem with a mini is it's just that.
Give Rise another 12 issue's and let him Craft s full story like Coates gets tod do and in sure it would sell consistent as it's been clearly showing
-
The reason to not let it continue is that it already concluded and I frankly thought it was losing cohesion with that last part, which I didn't think was anywhere near as strong as the others. On top of that, it could get a new #1 boost if it started over - it could even be an ongoing if they could come up with a premise. I'd rather not a reimagining of Black Panther continuity, I'd rather it just tell a story.

I say give it one more 6 issue mini to see how well that sells. if it does well then let it continue as an ongoing. If sales drop significantly(remember WoW and BP & The Crew) then it's a mini and it doesn't hurt long term.
