Speaking of Hong Kong, is anybody worried about how the Chinese posters will look?

we all know how they are going to look lets not beat around the bush
Probably huge headshots of Bilbo and Gollum with the rest of the cast teeny tiny right below.
from a pure character perspective I think T'Challa was better for it.
Everyone loves the Spider-Man and Batman rogues, but on some level its an indictment on the hero. That the same guy is constantly running free and wreaking havoc. There are some exceptions to this, but I don't see the lack of a huge rogues gallery as a weakness per se.
T'Challa doesn't need a rogues gallery because he deals with his villains outright. This is more endearing to me. He should be taking on organizations and bigger entities than just singular opponents long term anyway.
I agree completely...

I sort of wish people treated Klaw MORE like a Batman villain, meaning giving him deep character-dive arcs. He's the immortal spectre of the man who killed BP's father, his immortality always marks BP's inability to avenge T'chaka's death and in some ways can be used as a way to exploit T'challa's fear of failure. He's also empowered by arguably Wakanda's greatest asset, vibranium. Plus as a smuggler and international criminal he represents the worst aspects of western encroachment.
He's a great mirror villain.

In part T'Calla not having a solo book for so long can partially explain why Klaws isn't as fleshed out a rogue as he should be. But yeah ... I think marvel really dropped the ball with Klaw.
Priest did a pretty descent hob of conveying just how personal things are between them, but in pretty much every other encounter they have Klaw is just some random villain for T'Challa to beat.
T'Challa and Shuri IMO should be borderline obsessed with going after the Klaw. You usually can't even tell this guy muddled their father.
Man can we all just take a minute to admire and appreciate how DOPE these costume designs are? I mean look at that! Its simply a beautiful mix of african culture mixed with Afrofuturism. Appreciate folks, stop hatin on whether Na'Challa is going to be a thing or not (since it is likely it will)
The billion dollar mouse and a proclaimed prestigious black director decided that Wakandan love was best for Black Panther and Nakia was best for T'Challa. And on Valentine's weekend at that.
It was also debunked that T'Challa and T'Chaka don't date Wakandan women. (lol)
I think there's a lot to be appreciative about today.
Only lingering issue remaining is Na'Challa or T'Nakia?
Hmmm...

Na’Challa. It rolls off the tongue better.

I just hope there's a scene that leaves no doubt that Na’Challa is fcking. Like T'challa joking he left his vibranium socks at her place or something.

Thoughtful piece from Rolling Stone on the trailer and movie.

Ok, I'm not gonna lie. What first drew me to BP was the Marvel RPG game from the early 80's and the fact that he was a panther. I love cats. Big cats especially. Alpha predators, grace, and beauty. All that. Anyway, why, when a black panther is nothing more than a black leopard do they keep referring to Killmonger as a golden jaguar. Makes my hackles rise. I bet if I looked at the spots on Killmongets suit they would be leopard spots, not jaguar spots. There is a difference. And by the by, black panthers have spots. It's just that the rest of their hide is so dark you barely see them. Google some pictures. Golden fucking jaguar. It's a leopard FFS.
It also only took a year or so before I realized T'Challa's real importance. I was only 10 years old or so. Same age and time as the kids in Stranger Things. Just darker with curly hair.

For CINEMA as well. I mean I know Blade was "the first" but this just feels different.

Blade is sort of an weird case, because it's not only the first black super hero to get a lead in a movie (to my recollection at least) it's arguably marvels first sucessful comic book movie. But I don't think it got the impact it arguably deserved because it was seen more as a Wesley Snipes action movie than anything else. Average person probably had no clue this was a comic book super hero, because it doesn't wear that on it's sleeve like later super hero movies like X-Men and Spider-Man.
It was a sucessful movie, but it didn't really do anything for the comic book genre, or the character Blade. It ended up being just a very cool Wesley Snipes vehicle. Black Panther, and the current crop of movies in general, seem more about the characters than the actors (with the exception of maybe RDJ).
THough marvel is also marketing and handling things much better than they handled Blade. I'm not sure if they even had a book out at the time.
