Unfortunately, it was never explained.
But that's what happens when the writer of the characters solo book can't be bothered to build up said character thus leaving it to the likes of the vastly superior Al Ewing to fill in the gaps.
that would have been really cool to see. I must say it's a very impressive feat (considering it's a god that was defeated). I don't recall reading any stories about the tiger god but based upon what you or others may know how do you think tchalla would have defeated the him?
Bro, I hear what you're saying but here's the thing.
Okoye had much more solid fight choreography on display than T'Challa in the Black Panther movie whereas the BP on display in CA:CW was pure fire and completely in control of every fight sequence he was depicted in that movie both in and out of ceremonial garb.
Though wracked with grief and a desire for revenge against whoever was responsible for his Father's murder, T'Challa showed a steely determination and pragmatic approach to tracking down his prey and in the end, preventing said prey from taking the cowards way out.
I saw the BP movie twice on the big screen and will pick up the blu-ray no doubt, but I know that I felt underwhelmed by most the post M'Baku fight scenes featuring T'Challa most especially the CGI laden final battle with Killmonger.
Doesn't make me a "hater" or detractor.
amAt the sane time, Okoye only fought goons save the 5 on 1 vs Erik. And by all means I believe she is the greatest non powered Wakandan ( or tied with M'Baku) I still found T'Challa to be the better, more nuanced fighter. His use of weaving between h2h, and weapons and acrobatics was more exciting to me.
Of course I know your not a hater or detractor as that message wasn't directed at you. I've been around long enough to know that you are the furthest from that:cool:

I can only surmise that T'challa was able to best the ancient Tiger diety with whatever mental, physical and spiritual enhancements he was endowed with by Bast as her chosen Champion.

I think it was BoG who pointed out a lot of subtlety to that scene in regards to the torch and fear.
T'challa likely beat him by being 100% respectfully unafraid of him

This is all my own head canon here, so take it with a massive grain of salt...
But I sort of interpreted it almost less as a real fight and more almost as a test of his worthiness. Almost similar to what we saw with Doom and Bast back in Doom War. I think if T'Challa showed no fear whatsoever, Tiger God had no power over him since he was the first thing men feared. Similar to the Tiger God/T'Challa fight against Legos later on, I think combat was almost more a metaphor rather than real combat. And I think that's why it wasn't really shown no panel or anything. I think it was more of a spiritual thing rather than a real fight.
Or at least that's what I think happened. Then again, maybe he just chucked his spirit spear at him and called it a day. That might work too.

T'Challa had some iconic moments in CW...that overshadowed how silly he looked in that movie at times.
They gave him the the scratching of the shield and the I don't care moments, but overall I was disappointed with his effort in the airport battle.
Not to mention how silly it was when he was taken down by Black Widow.
Again, I give credit to the Russos, they know how to give characters their moment that stands out so you can overlook whatever flaws.
I also think as great as Chadwicke is he's not the greatest at selling a fight (out of costume). Not that he's bad, but he's better if you're using quick cuts instead of old school drawn out/clear fighting.
Russos used a lot of quick cuts/clear stunt double to help really sell this fight.

You compare that to the Casino scene. Boseman does a decent job, but the traditional in camera fight style doesn't benefit him as much.

Re-watched Creed the other day and man we could have used the showmanship/tension build up in Black Panther.
Those two ring entrances were breathtaking. Its proof that the longer Coogler waits to cut the better. We got it early with M'Baku in BP though. However, I totally expected more detailed and beautifully built up fighting environment like Creed at the end of BP.
BP in comparison seemed a bit rushed at the end. Gotta believe they cut some footage to save on time. There were rumors on other boards (I think NeoGaf?) that one of the issues was that the fights were too long in the editing room. Better to cut down on the fights than the character moments so I understand.
However, when you think of the 3rd act with M'Baku's arrival, W'Kabi kneel, Killmonger's final words, etc all those moments pay off even more if the final battles were of a higher quality. Its why the beats in Creed were so great at the end.

In all fairness, he wasn't taken down by Black Widow. She just slowed him down enough to buy Steve time to escape.

He scratched Caps shield and knocked him on his ass, he completely dominated Bucky and the only reason Bucky didn't die was because Scarlet witch literally saved him at the last second andflung Tchalla through a terminal, abd widow merely slowed him down and he still almost got ahold of the plane.
I think Boseman does a fine job. But I'm most impressed with his weapons skill

yea it would have to been as such. its undoubtedly a great fit and shows that his adversaries ahouldnt sleep on him or underestimate his abilities.

ok I actually love all of this. what you mentioned kinda reminded me of ororo getting favor from bast. it was a test of worthiness versus an epic battle. I can see both what you mentioned and maj's example. Either way if it was a test of worthiness or an actual fight the feat is very impressive.

I think if you watch every fight scene in every marvel movie enough you can start to pick it apart piece by piece. Whether it is CGI, editing, quick cuts, obviously stunt doubles (coughscarletcough), ect.

What issues exactly did T'Challa fight the Tiger God in? I would be interested to see that.
And, by the way, why is the forum moving slow as mud? Is it me, or is it the forum?

I gets someone got the memo folks want some more Black Panther stuff.
Unmasked Killmonger & Ross pack is actually in stock at Target! Not 1-2 set but at least 6. And interesting enough the Winter Soldier & Falcon two pack is not.
Oh and for Butterflykyss- Storm in her Mohawk MIGHT be in stores as the set with her is also at Target now.
So yes you can have Nakia versus Storm in toy form now.
