Please Stop lol! now that you've made that association my dislike for Coates is growing stronger. I read issue #4 today after staring at it for days and man was i pissed. Who is this mofo he is writing? I'm just confused. Was there a point of Hodari briefing T'Challa on the going on in Wakanda after the fact other than making T'Challa look incompetent and out of touch. What's the point of him being BP if he doesn't know what is going on with his own people? Probably this is just my own insanity lol! but the Swahili names for ppl and places are driving me crazy i wish he would stop using them.
Coates has flat out said in his own words that he has nerfed T'challa. Both physically, skill wise and the fact that he would not have plans like Priest. Basically he's Z list African Batman, minus skill with a bootleg Ironman replusor, who doesn't seem to care about or know anything and rules a rape state. Smfh.
When he said "awesome, awesome, awesome" it's clear that he is listening to the wrong perception about "nigh perfect" Panther that has NEVER existed! And hasn't read the books or has some issue with allowing what Emperor Jones talked about. A black hero occupying the space typical held by white male heroes (or white female heroes).
This is why MCU Panther was "so-lit" 4 white guys (CA:CW) understood this. I can't understand why Coates, who is brilliant on these issues doesn't with his own comic.

Cool that Manifold is showing up again. I still sort of wish he was on the Avengers (especially if the teams are somewhat strapped for cash these days since he saves a fortune on quinjets), but at least he's being used. I wonder if he'll stick around as a supporting cast member or if this is just a one time thing.
It is sort of funny how the Dogs or War seemingly were almost running AWAY from the bad guys rather than towards them the minute they ported in the room. I'm sure they were just securing the perimeter and locating the suicide bombers but still, it looked sort of funny.
Anyways, for people that wanted to see a win they seem to be getting it. Given even at the end of the 4th issue Stane indicated T'Challa already had them on the ropes, I almost thing the People really need to turn it up a notch.

The way the story is going so far and these previews reminds me of the first Mad Max. it's like a build up of things going very wrong, and now that T'Challa has reached the "tipping point" now he's a lot more aggressive in taking out his enemies.

Blowing up a guys mother does tend to bring out the aggressiveness in someone.
It's to the point where one of his guys seems to be preventing him from possibly striking a killing blow. Lucky he didn't see T'Challa backhand for that.
The need to get rid of this force push. Its such a lazy concept added to him to make the fights end faster

I'm on the fence about it.
I like that the ability is a logical extension of his existing powerset and gear.
But it also has the net effect of replacing skill with gear. He no longer out fights his opponents because he frankly no longer needs to. And that takes some of the fun out of h2h combat.
More interested in who else might be in this Cabal so far we have Stane, Tetu, Zenzi I'm hoping for one more surprise villain I wonder what Moses Magnum or Malice(1) is up too?

I am glad that the part where T'Challa gets hit is because he is telling them to do it, before the knocks the piss out of them. It makes that Preview A TON better, especially with him saying "Yes", showing he is letting them hit him to show he just don't give a F%#k. I hope Hope HOPE that momentum carries through the issue and through the Arc. It needs to keep going on so we can see some solid wins

To be completely honest, This is how i think it should work. Stelfreeze kinda uses to a little too much, but with this preview here, its more of a supplementary usage of the power, Which is what i was hoping for. More h2h and using the power to just redirect any hits he takes back into the enemy. Because its a cool ability, it just needs to be integrated into his fighting style cleverly like how Priest integrated the Daggers, Claws, Boots and Kimoyo into T'challa's fighting style seamlessly with great H2H.

This preview just continues the general trend of plot induced stupidity that's permeated this series from the start.
Unless T'Challa knew that the Goon Slam affiliate he invited to punch him, didn't stand a gnats chance of hurting him, sticking his chin out to be punched, was the height of stupidity.
But then, I'm not suprised that a writer who's admitted to not "really being up on action stuff" would actually commit this nonsense to paper.
This coupled with the fact that a Hatut Zeraze had to prevent T'Challa from possibly killing a felled foe, said it all about a character utterly fallen from thematic grace.

Yeah the only one T'Challa should let punch him is Shuri. She has a legit beef at this point.
I am more interested in why the Hatut Zeraze are against killing traitors in the first point. I mean sheesh T'Challa has enough power to kill that guy in one punch anyway so needing to finish him when he is down is just dumb. If he wanted Goon Slams Bros to be dead in one punch they would be. Interesting preview. I like Stelfreeze's art but this is a nice change. I like the way T'Challa looks in the Panther habit. I also like seeing him work with Eden. I think he is a cool character and want to see more team-ups between him and T'Challa.

Except I don't think that's why he did it.
It looks to me like he's daring them to hit him so he can charge up the almighty Force Push Of Doom. As opposed to, you know, simplyhitting them first.
Not impressed. Nice art, tho.
Look I don't mind the gadgets. But for godsakes if Coates want to show off such toys put him up against opponents where such toys are actually required. T'Challa shouldn't need any of that to beat up your average Boko Haram Rebel.
Not to mention beating up on a rebel group called the people is not a good look.

I definately think this is at least an improvement as far as action goes. Stelfreezes stuff overall has been amazing, but his action stuff comes off somewhat stiff.

Given that Stane gave Tetu 1000 to 0 odds against Black Panther, I definately think Tetu needs a bit of help. And that's especially true if T'Challa is bringing in some of his super hero buddies.

I assume the force push works by applying force to the vibranium in his suit, not his naked jaw.

I think T'Challa, apart from venting his anger, was using some psychological tactics in that fight.
If you give your opponent a free shot and they can't do jack, then they know the fight is essentially over. It essentially kills any fighting spirit they may have. Course, there's also an inherent risk in giving ANYONE a free shot regardless of your opinion of them. There's always a David out there for every Goliath, so it's not necessarily smart strategy BUT nonetheless I don't believe it's out of character for him either.
For what it's worth, I actually liked the scene. It was a nice way of showing him struggle against his own internal rage (and maybe even guilt) over what's going on. This isn't just him doing his job... on many levels it's very personal and it shows.

I like the preview for the most part, but that guy should have gotten the backhand of doom for that. If it was one of T'challa's oldest friends staying his hand that's one thing but some random subordinate needs to know his role.
I think it's more so the fact that he is pissed, is s is no different then when T'Challa told the goon in Priest's run he would let him get one free hit on him when he tried to stab him with the knife.
Having T'Challa offer a knife wielding goon a one shot chance at incapacitating him in the full knowledge that the knife had a 0% chance of penetrating his Vibranium weaved armor is a far cry from deactivating said armor, and then going on to stupidly stick your chin out on some fired up bravado BS not knowing whether your opponents actual strength levels or abilities.
It was a tactically unsound action written by a writer who really has no understanding of hand-hand-combat.

Did I say at any point, that this is the first time T'Challa been depicted being pulled off of an enemy?
I referenced the Hatut Zeraze physically preventing T'Challa from carring out the Kings justice on the rebel for the simple fact that it further illustrates how far from grace he has fallen for one of the secret police that he had such disdain for, had to remind him of his own humanity.
T'Challa as King, had every right to end that rebel there and then.
Can you imagine any of Namor's troops intervening if the Atlantean monarch was in a similar scenario?
Also as regards Priest's run, T'Challa was actually pulled off of Klaw and not Kraven. (if memory serves correct.)

Your average comic artist has a real hard time drawing realistic looking automatic weapons. Or even combat knives.
Half the time the HZ are SUPPOSED to have standard assault weapons they just don't look like it.
Its easier for some artists to just draw zap guns. You don't need to photo reference those.
Sal Buscema was like that, God rest him.

T'Challa has tanked hits from Namor, Terrax, Ironman, Iron fist etc etc, plus he has been fighting these goons for a long awhile, im sure he knows that they aren't going to actually do any damage to him. Hell we have been debating it here the issue of them NOT being powered and the gripes about it, so he knows they aren't meta human, so for him to tell them to back up their big boy bravdo, isn't really that off, I mean yea its not the most sound thing, but he is pissed and knew they couldn't actually hurt him, while else would be being saying Yes like that? he knows they are gnats compared to him. Its comics there are going to be things that doing makes alot of sense to do yet it looks cool so its done. Like how T'Challa got punched in the face by Ross yet he was able to effortlessly avoid attacks made by IF, Sometimes its just for effect.
I didn't really see anything wrong in the preview tbh. Thats my opinion. He has every right to kill them, but he can also spare them so that they can face the maximum Wakandan justice.
And i believe both Klaw and Kraven has to be saved by others. Just like Namor in NA.

Historically, that's the way he's been portrayed as being hands on , heck that's how all BPs have been shown as dealing with threats

The threat level is pretty minimal ... hence him giving them free shots. Had he been throwing down with say the Juggernaut, I'm certain he would have handled it a bit differently.
But it's not that different from Captain America fighting Hydra goons or whatever... occasionally in their occupation you deal with some canon fodder.
That said, I wouldn't be object at all if Stane didn't bring some higher level threats into the mix. We know T'Challa is calling in some of his super powered buddies to help out, so a few super villains coming in might not be a bad idea.

Not necessarily rival but you know you have your friends and then you have your close friends. I expect certain hero's to clique up more than others because of background and interests. Rival as in antagonist was the wrong term
To expand on the idea the best I can come up with is like college fraternities and sororities if that makes any sense. You come up with certain people and I feel like BP, Cage, Misty, Sam and Storm have the Harlem connection. I feel like it was kinda touched on briefly in Captain America where Sam mentioned he liked Rhodey but didn't know him as well as other heros.

I always thought the closest in personality, style, etc. of Don McGregor's Black Panther was Daredevil. I think Coates's version is probably best described as African Daredevil meets something high tech (take your pick of Iron Man or Batman, I don't want to imply the robotic aspects of the former or the non-technology aspect of the latter).

In Priest's run, he let random American gangsters shoot or stab him. Would the same logic apply (that he shouldn't let them shoot him unless he knows there's no chance of being hurt)?
I definately think this is at least an improvement as far as action goes. Stelfreezes stuff overall has been amazing, but his action stuff comes off somewhat stiff.
I'll wait for the issue to come out to fully judge it, but from first appearances, I agree.
I like the concept of the force push, but it has been used too much already on negligible threats. The energy the vibranium absorbs could be used for so much more; short speed or strength boosts, powering the energy daggers he no longer seems to use, the unwieldy pink/purple force gloves that should be visually streamlined down to energy trails, etc. And I agree it should be used on opponents worthy of T'Challa's best efforts.
