Wow was not expecting Ta-Nehisi Coates. Wow
BlackPanther hashtag popped up on twitter so I came here.

I don't know who the hell this guy is but...
I can dig that. Year long story, so guaranteed 12 issues
In Wakanda, so that makes it different
My only problem with this is... once again T'challa is separated from the rest of the MU... Ultimates he is with a bunch of... C list at best characters in space and now his own solo he is isolated in Wakanda.
So, while I am SURE I will love the story... IDK how much T'challas profile is gonna be raised. I guess that can be the movies job...[/QUOTE]
A year long commitment? I definately like the sound of that. Let's face it... in the current market you're lucky to get 6 issues. Knowing we've got 12 issues definately takes some of the worry out of the whole thing..
I just hope Shuri is back at least.
This is exciting but at the same time a little worrisome because we know writers like to add their own things instead of building on what's came before.

Means we are getting a whole story, which is awesome. No "had to cut things short due to book failing" stuff.
That paragraph means more to me than this writer who I don't know lol. year long book, set in Wakanda, new bad guys, art looks good... I can roll with that
This is amazing news.
Given how busy Coles must be right about now, I'm pleased and surprised that we got 12 issues.
The dude's been a cultural critic and entertainment writer for a while now (I first became familar with him from his work on the Village Voice).

yeah... I wonder how much dude read BP. Only mention I saw in there was Hickman which concerns me a bit.

Honestly I'm not familiar with the creative team either... OTHER people seem happy about it though, so I'll take that as a good sign. Good sign from marvel too if they're giving the guy a whole year. That definately shows faith on their part.
Anyone else think the description sounds like Panther's Rage?
That was quick
Didn't know the Panther fans have grown

TO BE FAIR, Amadeus Cho was also trending when he was announced as the new Hulk.
People just tend to get excited over anything announced by Marvel nowadays.

I'm actually really ok with a BP story taking place completely (or mostly) in Wakanda. I generally love reading about the adventures that take place there and to be honest, I feel it's been lacking within the past few years. The last time we ever really had a good solid Wakanda story without T'Challa having to travel all over the place was Priest and McGregor's run. (I ain't counting Maberry)
I have no idea who this guy[Coates] is but I wish him luck as well as hoping that he is a flexible writer; I don't want T'Challa being stagnant or resorting to 90s macho mindset to fill in pages. He can be a rather complex character, but this is usually only shown depending on the setting of the story.

Coates outright examined hyper-masculinity and that macho mindset in his recent book. Trust, as long as the craft is there, this book is in good hands.
