Do people actually care all that much about these awards to huff over losing?
YES
When it's THAT movie. They will be out in force along with ed2929's OTHER friend-who screamed this movie was going to destroy Marvel Studios (now he's saying it's Carol, Miles, Khan & Riri who will do it).
Anyone else noticed who was NOT nominated? Justice League. I am sure someone at Dc notices.
Wait till the awards shows were the public can vote start up-don't let this movie clean house at the 2019 Nickelodeon Kids or Teen Choice Awards.

T'chadwick was overshadowed by his cast! He wasn't interesting at all! Come one MoS you should know this by now...

meh. Id argue Thanos was better, but that's a matter of opinion. Killmonger is by no means a bad choice. Same with Best movie category. Good for them though.
I was gonna say chadwick didn't deserve best performance because he was kind of bland, but he had NO competition in that category lol.

For a guy you wanna tag as bland to make such a classy move to share the spotlight with the esteem Mr. Shaw, well give us more of that dude please! Cause that is the type of character Hollywood and the world needs.

I said I thought his performance was bland, that doesn't reflect on him as a person. I commend him for giving the prize away. Also, I'd like to say while I did find his performance bland, I think that's more because of the script/director. I enjoyed his performance more in civil war.

not entirely sure what this comment means...Also didn't know Chadwick was African.

Though I won't go so far as to say his performance was blamd, I will say that there's often potential for his character and characters like him (in more on the serious side) to he overshadowed by more colorful over the top characters. Happens all the time with Batman.

BLACK PANTHER #4
TA-NEHISI COATES (W) • DANIEL ACUñA (A)
Cover by PAOLO RIVERA
COSMIC GHOST RIDER VS. variant cover by Pasqual Ferry
“THE INTERGALACTIC EMPIRE OF WAKANDA” CONTINUES!
Rebellion among the rebels! When M’Baku rises to lead the Nameless, he’ll advocate for a new strategy in their war against the Empire — one that goes against everything T’Challa believes. But M’Baku’s plan could save lives. And without his mantle, what power does T’Challa have to fight for what he knows is right?

This seems infinitely more interesting than anything coates has done before.

I'm very curious if they'll explain how T'Challa is in space and on Earth at some point (even if they just establish when he disappeared and when he returned). I no longer expect other people to be careful about a writer's continuity, but this is inter-continuity so it should be a bit tighter.

I definitely am glad we're seeing some Cap/BP team ups under Coates. I was always a fan of their friendship, but in recent years that has sort of been strained.

We're still not 100% sure it's even T'Challa in space though. Granted the Storm visions make it highly lilely it's either him or someone connected to him somehow.

The solicit for #4 implies its a man who was a Black Panther and seems to have his memory back. It could be one of those return from the same point you left regardless of how long you have been gone.
Which if true, would confirm my theory of how hacky it is. lol

I didn't see that at all from this solicit. There's not any hints that T'Challa isn't T'Challa here (although, of course, we don't know for a fact who he is).

Were you possibly thrown off by the use of the word "The Nameless"? That's the name of all the rebels/workers, iirc.

Few things to discuss today.
Last night /due to the post on here/, I actually watched the MTV music awards. What Chadwick did for that "real hero" was really special. I am so glad he did that. Can you imagine him down at the local barber shop the next time he swings by? That guy is going to be a super hero to everyone in his town, what a special night for a special hero.
Was super glad that Killmonger won the best villain. Thanos was very good, but he did not have as "much to say" as Killmonger did. Killmonger was a far better written character than Thanos was /at least in the movie/. Killmonger's last couple of sentences about; "Bury me in the ocean", gave me shivers! I am "super white" by the way, but I could feel the power of his spoken words. Many cultures have taken slaves to sell after battle. My ancestors took many slaves from England, Ireland, etc. African's also captured slaves as well. This is part of our world's history unfortunately. But, to hear Killmonger touch on the horror of slavery that happened only a few generations ago, it struck a very deep nerve in many that heard what he had to say. Hopefully, we continue to evolve as a race /the human race/, and do everything we can to make all slavery a thing of the distant past.
Lastly, I just finished Hudlin's run. Really, really enjoyed the Skrull story. How could they cancel a comic after that? Looking forward to reading about Shuri in his next arc.

this looks like it will be an epic issue!! I'm wondering how long it takes for these rebels to regain their memories and how will that impact their interactions with one another.

Yeah. Just want nore if Evans Rise series. It's been a great read. Marvel should definitely support it. The book has fine slot better then many otherse and gas stayed consistent. That should mean something. And he did it with limited promotion, and having to correct every idiot who said and thought Coates was writing this book. heck, maybe Tchalla will have the wakandans worship Cap into a God-like state so that he can save both them and America!

The irony here being that some will accuse you of being cynical for saying this.
Coates has been nothing but a blight to the BP mythos since day one of his tenure writing the book.

The never ending persecution complex that obtains in the X-verse continues as usual.
No surprises with this beyond lame premise at this point. :smh:

It actually would be pretty useful if Wakandans could theoretically use that trick with just anyone. Doubt that's the case though.

Yeah no, that completely shits all over the Wakandan patheon to then point of insult. "Oh those Savage Wakandans will believe anybody is a god with their backwards ways"... No thanks. This whole change is already stupid as hell and needs to be retconned immediately

Like I said, I doubt that's the case.
Kind of works for Storm, because she's been implied as a goddess for a long long time. But I'm doubtful it would work for Steve. But we'll see.
I'm sorry what happened? Steve is a god now? did I miss something?
No, someone was merely suggesting that in Coates Captain America book, Wakandans might worship Steve to turn him into a god like they did Storm.
I was just saying it probably only works for characters like Storm who are sort of divine anyways. I sort of doubt anyone off the street can be turned into a god if Wakandans start worshiping them.

Yeah except Tchalla also called Monica a goddess too but we know that isn't the case. Storm isn't s goddess. The change and butchery of the Wakandan pantheon was completely unnecessary and damaging all for a character that belongs to a different franchise entirely

I'm not surprised this ridiculous premise is still rearing its head in this thread but suffice it to say that Coates departure from writing duties on BP will be greatly appreciated by actual fans of the mythos.
Until then, most of us will continue to enjoy the gloriously mutant free Black Panther movie.
